Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Might Contain In-Game Purchases

Red flag right there. I was considering a purchase, but now that'll depend on the nature of those purchases as well.

My guess would be the usual Season Pass stuff which Nintendo loves to do so their games will effectively cost above 80€ - but I wouldn't be surprised if it were something... worse.

Hopefully legislators won't stop until they rip the whole lootbox fiasco apart.

I'd say they're as bad as traditional gambling, but I actually think lootboxes are even worse. In regular gambling you're betting real money for the slim chance of getting a bigger return of real money. With lootboxes, you ditch real money into the void for the slim chance to get some digital thingy in a specific game that'll be obsolete in a matter of years or, in the case of FIFA, not even that long. They're just money vacuums in which even when you win, you haven't really won squat.

I just watched the Ring Fit Adventure video expecting absolute cringe, but instead I got... something absolutely standard?

Bar some weird body language, it was mostly just informative and concise. No lame jokes or antics, no screaming, no excessive focus on the presenters. Frankly, I don't see the big deal.

Re: Earthbound Creator Shigesato Itoi Felt 'Indebted' To Nintendo When Pitching Mother

An article on Itoi, a first post begging for another game despite the creator's clear-cut wish to leave the franchise as is. Ahh, never gets old.

Anyway, I always enjoy hearing what this man has to say, and I like the anechdote about him being 'recruited' as the result of a passing comment on a TV show. If he hadn't said that, or had Yamauchi been watching a different program, we wouldn't have some great, quirky games today.

Re: Forget About A Celeste Sequel, It Probably Won't Happen

Very reasonable decision. The game we got is as close to perfection as it gets when it comed to precision platformers, and sometimes when you've got something as beautiful as this IP, it's best to leave its legacy as is.

Interested in whatever they come up with next. Really talented people.

@Preposterous I'd argue she's shown about as much as the other two in terms of actual attacks, if not a bit less. Mostly she made do with regular hits because everyone else was a small fry to her, then you have Prometheus and Zeus with their sun/thunder attacks. Her most relevant techniques shown in the arc were definitely Life or Treat and Ikoku (which will probably be one of her specials). It's a good bunch of stuff but they'll still have to get creative with most of the moveset (which I'm fine with).

Re: Random: Super Mario Maker 2 Player Recreates The "Worst Ever" Level 1-1

Basically a pattern learning exercise with some precision jumping involved. Looks cool to see it being cleared but it's honestly not that big of a deal.

It'd be a lot harder if there wasn't a completion video to use as reference. Then again, having it is only fair because technically the creator also beat it by knowing his own patterns.

"It’s a great shame because we went into it looking for a bit of fun"

Right. I'm sure you were. Definitely not looking to slam another "anime titty game" for them clicks.

These games aren't my cup of tea either, but it's so easy to see where you folks are coming from. And regardless of whether this one's actually that trite or not, there was only one direction this was possibly going towards.
