My interest in Nintendo has hit near rock bottom over the past year. At this point my Switch is just there, lying dormant, until I get to play SMTV and BotW2 in 2023 or so.
So yeah, that's a grand two games I want to play on the system that I can't get elsewhere, we don't have release dates for them or anything but teasers, and one isn't even first party. (And I guess MP4 is a thing, but I might be too old and feeble to hold a controller by the time that's done)
This is my roundabout way of saying that most of Nintendo's IPs are, indeed, stale and boring. You couldn't pay me to play another Mario or Kirby just to name a couple, and Pokemon's been on my ***** list for over a decade.
Can't blame people for outright believing that at this point. It is crazy enough that I'd fact check it first, but I wouldn't have even been surprised had it turned out to be true.
The experience described in this review is pretty much what I expected from this game - which is sad, because Super Meat Boy is my favorite platformer ever.
It'll probably be a while before I try it out myself, because autorunners and procedurals are both very high on the not-my-cup-of-tea list.
"Geno's Mii Fighter costume made a return to the Smash Bros. series this week, and although it's a bit of a letdown for some - as we've already said this weekend, it's arguably better than nothing."
Is it? Not a Geno fan myself, but I'd rather Lloyd not be featured at all than reappear with his terrible Mii Costume.
@Ryu_Niiyama A better question would be why the ring was in reach, since that's an actual (choking) hazard for a child. Messing up a device is a small problem in comparison.
I expected something far, faaar worse when I clicked on that video. Is there some extra context I'm missing here that makes the joke actually racist? Because all I'm seeing is some dumb wordplay.
The level seems to be extremely long. I saw what I assume was his most recent segmented run and stopped watching at 6:00 (video was like 14 minutes long). And while all parts of what I saw are beyond technically impressive, some are veeery dull to watch even just one time, so I can't imagine going through them for thousands of hours.
The level starts off with a Panga-like bang and I wish it were much shorter but a lot more consistently like that. But hey, it's his level, so whatever floats his boat. Hope he'll get the clear eventually.
This is amazing, actually. The CD-i emulators are a massive pain to set up properly, so this might be my one actual option to play these. Greatly appreciated.
"Dubbed "Operation Midnight Shipping", the plan was concocted by Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi and his right-hand man Hiroshi Imanishi after the former got wind that the Yakuza were planning to steal shipments of the Super Famicom before they reached stores."
So this is what Majima was up to shortly after the events of Yakuza 0.
I'll buy a PS5 eventually, but not now. No point to when both the system and its games are at their most expensive, there's not much to choose from and I've got a lot of stuff to play in my recently purchased PS4.
"(...) because online play was only made available to paying Patreon supporters, yuzu goes from being a freely-distributed piece of code to a paid service – which would place it firmly in the sights of Nintendo's legal team."
They could just make the feature available for everyone if that was the fear. I doubt they couldn't afford the increased server capacity when they're earning (just checked) upwards of 13,000€ a month in Patreon subscriptions.
"Receiving a full visual overhaul, local multiplayer, expanded difficulty choices, rebalanced weapons system and more, it begs the question: why Nintendo didn’t use this version for the Switch?"
... Because it's the first game's 30th Anniversary, not the eleventh's?
If the point was simply to present Marth's story, Mystery of the Emblem would have been the best choice, but that's not what they're doing here.
I'm sure every reader here was worried out of their mind about having to buy a second hard drive to store an NES game, so this should put them at ease.
@Thirteen1355 Being a whiny manchild for years about a game not being localized is pretty damn pathetic, yes. Especially when there's an absolutely fantastic fan translation for said game.
Anyone who still hasn't played Mother 3 yet endlessly begs for a localization (particularly in totally unrelated news) has no real interest in the game. And if someone has played it and still can't get over the fact it will never be oficially translated, then that's even worse.
And for the record, I dislike most of Nintendo's practices. Doesn't make you bandwagon nutjobs any less absurd.
@dugan It's a gacha system where you roll for new characters, who are rated according to rarity (five stars, four stars and so on).
It remains to be seen how generous or restrictive they'll be with the freely obtainable premium currency needed to roll for characters, or how unlikely you'll be to get anything good with free attempts.
Good thing is, though, that as far as I can tell you don't need those extra characters at all to progress through the story, explore and so on. It's at least worth a try, I guess.
It really works very differently, if you bother to actually watch any video showcasing combat or other activities.
Not sure if it'll be any good, but calling it a clone is just part of the noxious culture of pitting everything against the one popular thing that came before - just like this site does with Pokemon and any new RPG that involves monster taming.
"We have almost complete creative control. Oh, also we have to pass a strict IP check which won't allow us to create new characters whatsoever, but no biggie"
Inherited his design philosophy from Miyamoto... Yup, the IP is doomed for anyone who wants something akin to the older games. Kind of relieved I never got into it, but I feel bad for my friends who are fans.
Ah, of course. Recruit your legion of eight-year-olds boycotting the online stores so that you won't have to spend much in legal action to work out a problem you created yourself.

Re: Dev Explains Why Nintendo Made Mario's Anniversary Games Limited-Time
Oh wow, thank goodness Mr Dev's here to drop those truth bombs. I would have never seen the hilariously blatant FOMO ploy otherwise.
Really, for whom is this news? Fanboys in extreme denial?

Re: Tales Of Symphonia Is The Best-Selling Entry In The Series' 25-Year History
Symphonia is my all-time favorite game, so that's nice to hear.
Re: Poll: What Other Nintendo Franchise Would You Like To See Niantic Work On?
"None, please" would be my option.
Re: Sony And RTS Jointly Acquire Fighting Game Tournament EVO, Nintendo Responds
@Narrator1 Is that your childish view of what a company is? Two dudes? Hilarious.
Re: Sony And RTS Jointly Acquire Fighting Game Tournament EVO, Nintendo Responds
After shutting down fan-organized tournaments for stupid reasons, it's only karma that Nintendo get kicked out of official tournaments as well.

So no actual perseverance.

Higher than the chance of games coming out, that's for sure.
