Re: Feature: Best Kirby Games Of All Time

Krisi

@Aerona I guess the original in 1993 was a more influential and better game than the remakes/ports were years later.

Edit: It's like... Kirby's Adventure is easily a 10/10 NES game. Nightmare in Dream Land is not necessarily a 10/10 GBA game, though.

Re: Feature: Best Kirby Games Of All Time

Krisi

@Solomon18 Well, there's Kirby Super Star on Switch you can play.

By the way, Super Star, Air Ride, and Dream Course are too low. And while Robobot is great, Super Star Ultra is easily the best one, come on.

Re: Soapbox: It’s Time For A Pokémon Trading Card Game Reboot On Switch

Krisi

Yes.
I'm afraid it won't happen because of TCG Online, but somehow Yu-Gi-Oh can do the two things at the same time successfully.
The original on GBC is very good, and the second, Japanese-only one is absolutely fantastic, it's my second favorite Pokémon spinoff after Mystery Dungeon 2 (it was also one of the first games I played in Japanese, back when I knew close to nothing in the language other than reading kana).

So yeah. If they released something like that new Yu-Gi-Oh game with the Pokémon TCG that included all of the previous cards ever made, or even just a good chunk of them, I would play that a ton. Even though I haven't kept up with the actual TCG for over 10 years now.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Kirby Game?

Krisi

@Aerona Star Allies heavily relies on multiplayer, and encourages you to have up to 3 partners with you at all times, and it can become very chaotic and not really fun due to that. But if you choose not to have any partners or one at maximum (except when you need more for puzzles), it's honestly great, if a bit short. It has some pretty cool other modes as well, and the Boss Rush is by far the best one the series has ever seen.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Kirby Game?

Krisi

I own and played every single Kirby game, except for Fighters 2 (but I will definitely get it, I just think it's a bit too expensive), and I think the clear best is Kirby Super Star Ultra. And of course the original Super Star, but Ultra has everything that one had and then some more similarly awesome content.

Re: Rumour: Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remakes Will Be Revealed For Switch Next Month

Krisi

@Supadav03 I don't understand why people would want this. It doesn't really add anything, and actually takes away stuff: it can't look as good because the system has to render more stuff, the linear parts of the game would look more confining, and it would just be much easier to get lost that way. I hardly ever knew where anything was in the Sw/Sh DLC as well. But then again, most places looked really similar to each other, which might be part of the problem.

Re: Feature: Best Super Nintendo (SNES) Games

Krisi

Not a bad list, but Kirby Super Star is so, so much better than that. It's definitely better than Secret of Mana, for example. I mean, it's a good game, but it's just that, it has far too many problems for it to be one of the best.

Re: Nintendo Wants To Know Whether You Prefer 2D Or 3D Zelda Games

Krisi

It's kind of a hard question. Majora's Mask is probably my favorite Zelda, but I think I overall like the 2D style better. 2D Zeldas are usually more tightly designed, more action-packed, and it's much harder to get lost in them. 3D Zeldas usually have a stronger atmosphere and make a stronger impression, however.
I still think the 2D style is a bit better, but I honestly love both so much.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Wii Games

Krisi

It's nice to see Rhythm Heaven Fever relatively up there, it's an amazing game.

Mega Man 9 is a lot better than that, though, but it's still nice to see on the list.

Re: Fangamer Has Just Launched A Range Of Goemon Merchandise

Krisi

This is just awesome, it's one of the coolest game series out there. I especially love the shirt they're offering, but everything is a bit too expensive for me.
Between this and Good-Feel's next game, it's a great time to be a Goemon fan. Now we only need a game collection for Switch and Goemon as part of Smash's second Fighters Pass, and it will be perfect.

Re: Yoshi's Crafted World Studio Good-Feel's Next Game Is Giving Us Serious Goemon Vibes

Krisi

YES! YES! This is pretty much EXACTLY what I wanted.

I absolutely love the Goemon series (I have all ~30 games!), but Konami doesn't care about the series since 2005, or when Etsunobu Ebisu left them, so I was saying for years that Nintendo should just buy the Goemon brand and let Good-Feel handle the next title, and we'll no doubt get a fantastic new game. Well, it's pretty much the same, except for the licensing part.

Definitely going to keep an eye on this.

Re: Soapbox: 10 Years On, Kirby's Epic Yarn Is Still The Pink Puffball's Finest Outing

Krisi

Okay. You don't like Kirby games, so your favorite is the one that originally wasn't a Kirby game. Makes sense.

For me though, nothing comes close to Super Star (and of course it's fantastic remake, Super Star Ultra). I love the Kirby series, it's actually one of my top favorites, but Super Star is just something else. I genuinely think that that game is Sakurai's finest work, even though I think Smash Ultimate is the best game of this entire console generation.

Re: Professor Layton Dev Level-5 Has No Plans For Future Games Outside Of Japan, Says Report

Krisi

Aww, but they are a good developer.

And yes, we were promised a localization of Yo-kai Watch 4, but it seems less and less likely. I mean sure, it only came out over a year ago in Japan, and Yo-kai Watch 1 for example was localized over 2 years after it came out in Japan, but you pretty much don't hear about the series anymore, and as far as I know, it's not as popular in Japan as it once was either. It's a shame though, it's a charming, fun series.

Re: How Well Do You Know Minecraft?

Krisi

12/15. I knew some, some were random guesses, but most were educated guesses.

I've never really played Minecraft other than the few times my little cousin forced me to.

Re: Oops! Nintendo Seems To Have Accidentally Revealed Kirby Fighters 2

Krisi

Meh.
I mean... I liked the first one. The Kirby formula lends itself to a fun fighting game. That's why Smash is pretty much already that.
But I didn't really have anyone to play the first one with, so I put it down soon after I unlocked everything. And 20 bucks seems a bit steep if all this adds is a few new stages and characters. I'm hoping for some new game modes, and something like the collectible trophies in Smash.

I mean I will definitely get this, because the Kirby series is one of my absolute favorites, and I already have every single Kirby game (and I mean it: even stuff like the Japan-only extremely rare Super Famicom version of Star Stacker, the Anniversary Collection, both versions of Epic Yarn, and all the digital-only games), but I hope I will get enough enjoyment out of my money. I mean it costs the third of a completely new game! It's the same amount of money as one of the 3D Mario games from 3D All-Stars! It's more expensive than Undertale, the retro-styled Bloodstained games, the Mega Man Legacy Collections, Blaster Master Zero, or many other great, content-filled games.

Re: Poll: So, What Was Nintendo's Best Year Ever?

Krisi

I voted 2001, so many amazing games.
I would count the original releases for every game, though. Pokémon Red/Green was released in 1996, not 1998, and Gold/Silver was released in 1999, not 2000, among others. Zelda was 86, Zelda 2 was 87, Wind Waker was 2002, etc.
