@Jayofmaya It's not that random. The spirit was previously available if you played the DQ11 Demo, and now they added it as a normal spirit. They did stuff like this before with other event-exclusive spirits or the ones you could only get with a Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu or Eevee save file.
This reminds me, Nintendo should add some spooky games to the NES and/or SNES apps for Halloween. Even if it's just one per console. Like Monster Party or Ghosts and Goblins or Gargoyle's Quest 2 for the NES, and Zombies Ate My Neighbors for the SNES. I would've also said maybe Clock Tower for the SNES, but we know it's not happening because of multiple reasons.
The Japanese version is the best, but the European box art is nice as well. Konami had much better boxarts in the N64 days in Europe than it did in the US. I mean, have you seen the Castlevania 64 covers?
Anyway, Goemon for Smash, Goemon collection for the Switch, a new game, etc etc. I mean Goemon is my favorite non-Nintendo series, and I think it deserves much more love than it has right now, even if it does have a cult following.
But I was always more of a Konami guy. Now imagine a new Goemon game. Or Getsu Fuuma Den. Or Parodius. Or TwinBee. Or even something like a Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa sequel would be cool.
@Broosh I actually found the very beginning a bit boring, and the overall opening act a bit underwhelming as well, but I really got into it after that. It was kind of the same with Twilight Princess as well. Which is funny, because both are games with a very similar formula from 2006, and with wolves as the main characters.
I gotta go with America this time. Japan has some goofy faces, and while I prefer the no silver border version of Europe, you can't really see Sypha or Grant on it, and multiple playable characters were a big selling point of the game.
@TheLightSpirit But the on-rails part is what made Snap interesting, challenging, and fast-paced. I'd take skill based, fast paced gameplay where you have to look for opportunities and adjust to situations any day over being able to go anywhere anytime and have to potentially wait around for something to show up.
Well, this is sad. But not thatc surprising. The two remakes they put out were pretty pointless, especially Bowser's Inside Story. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but when you can play the exact game same on the same system just with a slightly lower resolution and a slightly different spritework, what's even the point?
Anyway, let's look at the bright side: Nintendo said they were keeping the Paper Mario series as experimental games, because why have two different Mario RPG series' at the same time? Now we have a chance to finally get a real sequel to the first two Paper Mario games, which are absolutely some of the best games ever created, no questions asked. The first one is easily the best game on the N64, and the second one is the best game on the GameCube. In my opinion, at least.
It's cool andall, buk straight up disgusting. Very much akin to some RPG maker fan projects you could download for free off the Internet 20 years ago. If there was an option for NES/SNES/GBC graphics, I would bite in a heartbeat. But like this... I'll pass.
I love how Metal Gear itself is not on the Japanese boxart, yet it is on the MSX version - just like how the mech doesn't appear in the Famicom/NES versions. It does look cooler with it, so the Western versions win.
Awesome game though, but I only played the MSX version. Truly ahead of its time.
@RushDawg No way. Prime had some things over Prime 2, but I felt that 2 was much more coherent and interesting. Not to mention first person platforming is just the worst thing ever, and Prime 2 has much less of it, and even then, you get the Space Jump MUCH sooner, making it much more manageable.
Pikmin 2 is great, and just like in the previous case, it definitely has stuff that's better than in the first game, but I feel that Pikmin 1 has much better level design and a better atmosphere. It's kind of a quality versus quantity case for me, as Pikmin 2 has much more content, but what 1 has is comparatively better and more interesting in my opinion.
But when the physical version costs literally 10 times more (or 20 times more when the digital is on sale), you've got to REALLY like both the game and phisical releases to buy one of these. And even then, you're buying a game you already have.
Stone me or anything, but I think F-Zero is a better, more fun game than F-Zero X on the N64.
Also, Kirby's Dream Course is underrated. It's an absolute masterpiece, and pretty much a one of a kind experience. It looks like a minigolf game or whatever, but it's actually a really challenging action-puzzle game with tons of content, really creative challenges, and a brilliant two-player mode.
Yeah, I came here to comment about card draws being too random as well... I just don't get it. There are tons of cards for getting exactly what you want, and you can build your deck in such a way so you can use the cards together pretty much no matter what your hand is, so what's the problem?
Anyway, while I like Yu-Gi-Oh enough (I learned to play like 12 years ago and completed some older games for the Game Boy and the GBA), I would kill for something similar with Pokémon TCG. I used to play that quite a lot (even though not quite on a tournament level), and I was addicted to both the first version on the GBC and the Japan-only sequel, I stopped collecting the actual cards many years ago, and I haven't really played TCG online either, not to mention I couldn't really keep up with the changes and power creep of the new cards... But a game where all the cards would be available right from Base Set; that would be the coolest thing ever.
Anyway, a more interesting poll would've been the box art for the original Mega Man. I just LOVE the European version. It really has that old school theme of not following the source material exactly, but at the same time it's still as accurate as you can get, and the art overall looks amazing.
Gonna be awesome. Pirate's Curse is my favorite game of the franchise, but I do like the transformations as well, so I'm glad we're getting a new game that includes both the (best version of) old-school Shantae Metroidvania action and the thing that makes her stand out.
And all the other features listed here like the animated cutscenes. I'm a bit worried how much it will cost, though.
I love Gradius, but as other said, pretty much the same version is already available for free on the NES app. But speaking of old Konami arcade games... Release. Mister. Freaking. Goemon. Already! It's already on PS4! And also on X360! Goemon is traditionally a franchise closely tied to Nintendo, and the first game in the series should be on a Nintendo console. So please Konami and Hamster, just release it already. ...And a Goemon Anniversary Collection would be nice. With stuff like Goemon 1 and 2 on the Famicom, Legend of the Mystical Ninja, Goemon 2, and Boku ga Dancer ni Natta Wake on the SNES, and maybe Uchuu Kaizoku Akogingu, Ooedo Daikaiten, and Shin Sedai Shuumei on the PS1. That would be awesome. Maybe even put Sarawareta Ebisumaru in there as well for the Game Boy, as it's pretty much the best one with the Famicom Goemon formula, even though it lacks the two-player mode of the second Famicom game. Just stay away from Kurofune, the one we got on the Game Boy as Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon, that game is garbage.
Your description of why Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Darkness/Time/Sky is so liked is pretty vague and misses the point entirely in my opinion. Sure, it is kind of a cute dungeon crawler, but there is a reason the other entries in the series aren't nearly as popular, while they have the same basic gameplay. This one easily has the best written story of the entire franchise (okay, Pokémon is not exactly famous for it's gripping story, but still, this one is legit great), has incredibly deep underlying systems, and has an amazing amount of content and variety, even with its randomly generated, somewhat repetitive nature. I don't really enjoy grinding in RPGs, but this one is one of my absolute favorites.
Is this the same game that was on the 3DS? Because it was a bit underwhelming, if you ask me. It wasn't so bad, (nothing exciting, though), but if I remember correctly, the level design was overall a bit boring, and I especially remember that the last stage (or the last few stages?) was like five times longer than it needed to be, and it became icredibly boring. And there were quite some unreasonable challenges if I'm not mistaken. Not a bad game, but I was expecting more.
@Anti-Matter That's the one you like? I mean sure, it's pretty and all, but my motto is that you can never go wrong with lime green. Plus white gets dirty much more easily. Trust be, been there.
Well, while both games are classics and I personally enjoy them both, this month is easily the most disappointing one yet. I was hoping that Japan got Goemon or something as a third game, but nothing.
The rewind feature doesn't really interest me at all, though.
But it would be awesome, though. She's the most deserving indie in my opinion, having a long history from Nintendo, starting out in 2002 (before most characters people would call indie), having 5 of her own games (including this fifth one that's coming out) and her moveset is quite unique.
I don't get why you all need this so much. It's regular bubble tea in plastic cups you'll throw away after you're finished.
It's like the different mineral water bottles with Mickey Mouse and whatever on them I used to see when I was a kid - they are pretty much there only to trick kids into wanting to drink something they usually wouldn't want. I get that these might have special flavors and what not, but would you still be this excited for it if some random café or something announced that they would carry melon soda flavored bubble tea from now on?
@Scottwood101 @gloom Interesting. I finished Slime-san collecting all the apples and coins, and played some of the DLCs, but it just didn't grab me that much. I also found that sometimes I wasn't in complete control of my character even towards the end, and the art style became somewhat tedious after a while. I didn't really enjoy some of the level designs either. I mean it's a fine game, and it does offer quite a lot of content for your money, but I just don't see why so many people think it's amazing. And I really like platformers AND hard games, so that's not it.
