@UmbreonsPapa 15 hours and a bit more to find? I've been playing it for over 70 hours now, and I still have tons to find! I haven't found every Pokémon, interaction and secret path, and actually could only do just over half of the requests.
I'm really happy for it. New Pokémon Snap is really an amazing game, made by people who really understood the original. It's easily one of the most lovingly crafted Pokémon games, and I think is in strong contrast with Sword/Shield, or any Pokémon game for Switch, really.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi Outsource Goemon to Good-Feel. That's where many of the brains behind the series went. But then again, they are currently working on a Goemon-like game, which is good enough I guess.
@SkullDragr Avatar is absolutely my favorite thing in media that's not a video game. And I can't really say I grew up with it. It's just a wonderfully written, wonderfully told, wonderfully imaginative story with wonderful characters and settings. Everyone should see it at least once. I made several of my friends (grown men that don't really watch cartoon series) huge fans.
@DomGC Okay then, please provide a list of free to play mobile games by big companies that don't try to take away all your time or money. The only one I could think of that's a Nintendo license is Mario Run, but that's not free to play.
Please don't. Mobile games are usually very horrible. Not necessarily because they are quickly put together or anything, but they are absolutely designed to leech on your time or your money, depending on which one is less precious to you, while usually providing less actual gameplay or diversity than any "normal" game, while tricking you into thinking that they provide so much. Please stop this trend.
@westman98 And it's well earned. I haven't finished it yet, but it's easily one of the very best Pokémon spinoffs ever, and probably the best looking game in the entire series.
@Guybrush20X6 I'm working at a game store (in Hungary, though), and GTA5 is probably still our best selling game. Sure, when something big comes out, it might take over for a few days or weeks, but GTA5 is consistently a best seller. We probably sold more copies of GTA5 for the X360 last year than copies of The Last of Us Part II or something.
It's weird how each cover has a missing starter, and it's different on each one. The American one only has Squirtle and Bulbasaur, the European one only has Squirtle and Charmander, and the Japanese one only has Bulbasaur and Charmander.
@Alienfreaks04 Someone else already replied, but it can't be said enough: the previous games had pretty much multiple times the content at launch compared to New Horizons. Sure, it added cool stuff like terraforming and the ability to place furniture outside, but that's it. It's missing multiple features, characters, furniture, clothes, and stuff like that. Even the crafting system feels motly like added busywork. It also seems like there are many more options for clothes, but it's actually just that they added some new colors to existing clothes. Sure, they re-added some features and items in the past year, but to be honest, if the game came out like this, it would feel a bit lacking compared to New Leaf.
I think 9 is easily the best. It's not one that's really nostalgic for me, or one that I grew up with, or one of my first ones - it's really just is the best in my opinion without any biases.
I read the word Mystical and thought we were up for some Goemon news. Even though the picture had nothing to do with it. I'm desparate for a new Goemon game, or even a collection, okay?
Simply amazing. I find the Famicom inmeasurably more fun to collect for than the NES (more games, many of which are amazing, some games have a better version on Famicom like Contra of Castlevania III, it's much cheaper, and the cartridges are varied and fun), and seeing a complete collection with all the boxes and manuals is just awesome.
the original, and this just looks awesome. It's definitely not a remake, though, it doesn't seem to have anything in common with the original, except for the main character and the final boss, plus the game being a sidescroller.
It depends. For DS, 3DS, Switch, and disc-based games, I only go for CIB copies. For other things, like NES, SNES, N64, Game Boy/Color/Advance, I prefer to have a box and manual, but I will absolutely take loose carts if they are much cheaper.
@NDragon1412 Well then the problem might partially be with me, but when the game constantly keeps telling me that "here's this content that might not return ever or at least not for a long time when it will rotate out of the meta anyway" I don't want to miss it. And I'm pretty sure they know that many people are like that. The comment about stuff rotating out of the meta only applies to certain games obviously, Pokémon Shuffle is one that immediately comes to mind.
Mario Kart did have new tracks every tour at first, but it got to a point where we got like a single new stage every few tours, the rest was just recycled content. Sure, sometimes you had to go backwards, or there was more stuff on the road, but it didn't change the fact that you were playing the same track for literally the hundredth time disguised as something new. The new characters were kind of exciting at first as well, but then they started adding pretty much only different costumes to Mario, Peach, and the others, with most of them having special items that existed before, and all of them being rare or very rare drops, meaning you wouldn't be able to get them if you weren't grinding. Because if you took your time collecting enough resources to even get a chance at pulling a new character, then the set would rotate and the new pool might have characters you don't want, or just have already.
Daily rewards are pretty much just something to keep you coming back every day. They are not true rewards in a sense that you truly get something new to do every time, just usually a little of something you have to collect tons of to have any effect at all. They are pretty much just there to trick you to come back every day, or at least more times than you would want to.
As I said, I've played a fair amount of freemium games, and letting them go was pretty hard sometimes, and I kind of missed them after that, but later on, I absolutely realized how much time I saved by not playing them. Sure, if you truly have fun with them, that's awesome, but for me, when I really thought about it, I was mostly playing for the almost non-existent rewards, and they started to feel more and more like chores. And even if you only play 10-15 minutes a day with each, it does add up.
Again, if you truly enjoy yourself while playing these, then I'm really happy for you, but I think that for most people, they really have to think about why they play these games, because for most, they are truly horrible in the long run. I don't think I'll play any freemium games ever again, and I've never spent a penny on any of them. Some people can't resist doing so, and it can be really dangerous, as they sometimes pay incredible sums to get stuff, and usually to get a lesser experience than if they just bought a regular game.
@NDragon1412 I've played many freemium games, including Mario Kart Tour. I liked it, and didn't spend a penny, but then I realized that they just repeat courses over and over again, and if you want the rewards every week, you need to grind over and over for points and coins and whatnot. Yes, it's hours of gameplay for free, but is it truly enjoyable? I've come to realize that it was not much more than wasted time, as I wasn't really enjoying it, and I could've done so much more with that time - such as play a game that constantly gives me new experiences, or learn a new language.
As for Fire Emblem Heroes - it was fun, but I felt that the battles themselves weren't even the focus later on anymore. If I recall, there was even an option for auto-battling. If you take away the only gameplay from the game, then it just becomes a fancy way to watch numbers go up, and it's not truly a good or even rewarding experience, it just gives the illusion of one.
For people who say their favorite thing in gaming ever is grinding levels in RPGs, these games are great. For everyone else, believe me, you could spend your time much better.
None. As much as Pokémon Go was a creative idea, and a Pikmin game definitely sounds cute, freemium games are the second coming of satan. They pull you in, make you play multiple times the amount you should be playing, with extreme amounts of recycled content, and you must pay tons of money if you don't want to waste away your life playing the game while keeping up with other people. Sure, some games do this better, and some do it worse, but overall it's a very, very toxic trend in my opinion.
The placement of the Mega Man Zero games is pretty interesting, as I thought that each entry was clearly better than the previous ones, with Zero 1 starting out as one with great potential but incredibly huge flaws, and Zero 4 pretty much perfecting everything.
And I don't know what Sonic Advance 2 is doing on this list, it's a pretty bad game. Horrible level design with tons of leaps of faith and enemy placements you can't see in advance (no pun intended), plus the bosses are all pretty same-y and not really fun. Sure, you can memorize the level designs and blaze through the game, but that doesn't make it any better.
Pokémon Dash is not just easily the worst Pokémon game ever made, it's easily one of the worst games I've ever played, period. And I've played some bad games.
@Beatrice I kind of agree. I mean it has great art and music, and I think it has a pretty charming atmosphere, but it has so many problems it's not even funny.
No. The underground was great, but it wasn't the game's greatest contribution to the series. It was stuff like the physical-special split and the online.
@GravyThief Yeah, N64 carts use either batteries or the Controller Pak to save. Do any GBA games use battery saves though? I thought they all have flash memory. Some of them do have batteries inside, like some Pokémon games, but they only use them for the in-game clock, and not for actual saving. Most counterfeit GBA games save with batteries, but that's a different matter. I've even seen a fake Professor Layton for the DS that had a battery in it.

@TheFrenchiestFry Nintendo Land is awesome, just like Splatoon, Super Mario Maker, and Smash 4 (which have exclusive content over the Switch versions), and Kirby and the Rainbow Curse is fun. Plus it has the only English version of Mother 1, and the best version of Super Mario Bros. 3. And the NES Remix games are fun as well.
Good. They made pretty much all the bad/very mediocre Pokémon games. Including Pokémon Dash, which is not just the worst Pokémon game by far, I'm pretty certain it's one of the absolute worst games ever by a major publisher.
The Panasonic Q is great, but out of the standard ones, I think the Orange one is the coolest - even if it's nowhere near my favorite color. I have a controller like that, and I love it.
This would be cool, but some of the first forms are too large. If you look at some sprites of smaller Pokémon in actual Game Boy titles, they take up much less space than larger Pokémon, which actually told you how big they were compared to each other (roughly).
Yes. I'm afraid it won't happen because of TCG Online, but somehow Yu-Gi-Oh can do the two things at the same time successfully. The original on GBC is very good, and the second, Japanese-only one is absolutely fantastic, it's my second favorite Pokémon spinoff after Mystery Dungeon 2 (it was also one of the first games I played in Japanese, back when I knew close to nothing in the language other than reading kana).
So yeah. If they released something like that new Yu-Gi-Oh game with the Pokémon TCG that included all of the previous cards ever made, or even just a good chunk of them, I would play that a ton. Even though I haven't kept up with the actual TCG for over 10 years now.
@Aerona Star Allies heavily relies on multiplayer, and encourages you to have up to 3 partners with you at all times, and it can become very chaotic and not really fun due to that. But if you choose not to have any partners or one at maximum (except when you need more for puzzles), it's honestly great, if a bit short. It has some pretty cool other modes as well, and the Boss Rush is by far the best one the series has ever seen.
I own and played every single Kirby game, except for Fighters 2 (but I will definitely get it, I just think it's a bit too expensive), and I think the clear best is Kirby Super Star Ultra. And of course the original Super Star, but Ultra has everything that one had and then some more similarly awesome content.

@Aerona I guess the original in 1993 was a more influential and better game than the remakes/ports were years later.
