Spike Chunsoft has revealed that Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate - try saying that five times fast - will be launching on Switch in the west later this year.
The news comes from yesterday's New Game+ Expo livestream, which showcased the trailer you can find above. It'll be available on Switch and PC across Europe and North America.
The Tower of Fortune and The Dice of Fate is the fifth main entry in the Shiren the Wanderer series and actually first appeared on the DS back in 2010 as a Japanese exclusive. The upcoming Switch version is based on an expanded release of the game that appeared on the PS Vita:

Finally, an actual roguelike
Excellent. I've wanted to try a Shiren game for a while now. Although I heard of Shiren the Wanderer when it was released, I wasn't into roguelikes at the time. Hopefully this is more like Alchemic Dungeons DX - ie. slower-paced, strategic and accessible-but-complex - than the faster-paced, action-based roguelikes that seem to be most popular these days.
Wow, awesome!
I only played the remake of the first game for the DS from this series, but that one is nothing short of a masterpiece.
I don't have a Vita, so I'll love this, I'm sore.
For those that like difficult and rewarding games, get it.
I skip it because this version has nothing I need above the Vita one I got few years ago, but it is worth a buy for those that like such games.
Shiren The Wanderer: The Tower Of Dice.
There.. fixed the name of the game already! lol!
I have nearly bought this on Vita many times but never pulled the trigger as I so infrequently play the thing these days. Now I'm glad I waited.
I really liked the Wii game a lot. I'm glad they are going for a more colorful and pixelated style. This looks great, can't wait to get my hands on it.
Hell yeah.
This is going to be great.
This game was great on Vita!
"Legend has it..." You can LITERALLY see the tower and all the floaty stuff... Quite certain it's not a legend.
Never been a fan of Shiren or Shiren-likes, but I dig the pixel art on this one a lot.
I still have a PS Vita copy, but I'll gladly double-dip for a Switch physical copy. I hope Spike Chunsoft is considering giving this a collector edition as they do for so many of their releases.
More Mystery Dungeon is always good but I have two I've yet to play and two others I haven't beaten yet so I'm good for now.
You had my curiosity at "Shiren"
But after seeing the spritework I know I must play this!
Looks like a Super NES style action RPG, may pick it up if the price is right.
This is one of the best games I have ever played, no exaggeration.
Hundreds of hours of gameplay at least, absolutely beautiful art, fantastic music and a real sense of achievement when you finally make progress.
I would recommend it to any gamer who enjoys a challenge.
The sprite work is amazing.
Geeze, that name is a mouthful. It doesn't look too bad either, but with all the other quality games on Nintendo Switch, I can't see myself biting.
Oh neat, they have a rescue system! I love those.
I haven't played a good roguelike like this in awhile. Made me reminisce about Azure Dreams on the PS1, hah. Wish it was handheld, though, this is the kind of thing I'd like to putter on in bed each night, and holding the Switch while lying down quickly gives me cramps.
I've literally just gone back to this on my Vita.
@FantasiaWHT Ahhh Azure Dreams. What a wonderful game that was.
Same graffix as the DS version!
Ohh yeah must buy for me
Double dip. Absolutely loved this game.
This looks really good. I still haven’t given my copy of Etrian Mystery Dungeon a try yet though.
Woo hoo! I haven't been able to play a shiren game since DS
Looks like a winner for sure. Can't wait.
