Soedesco and developer PixelHive have today announced Kaze and the Wild Masks for Nintendo Switch.
The game has had a console release in mind since early development, and PixelHive CEO, André Schaan, says that "both the Steam and console versions will truly complement the game in their own way." It features hand-animated pixel-art graphics, side-scrolling action, and a rabbit protagonist who can run, jump, and utilise powers granted by wearable masks.
In Kaze and the Wild Masks, you journey through the Crystal Islands in 90’s classics platformer style. Play as Kaze and save your friend Hogo from a curse that spread chaos around the islands. Face enraged living vegetables by invoking the powers of the Wild Masks. Pounce ferociously like a tiger, soar through the sky like an eagle, sprint fiercely like a lizard and rule the sea like a shark.
Here's a feature list for you:
- Unleash the skills of the wild masks to get powers from the tiger, eagle, lizard and shark
- Uncover the secrets of the Crystal Islands in 30+ levels with over 50 bonus levels
- Relive your childhood memories of classic platformers with high quality frame by frame pixel art
- Pave your way through a satisfyingly smooth, but challenging platformer
- Refresh your ears with 25+ tracks inspired by the musical themes of the 16-bit era
There's no specific release date for this one just yet, but we do know that both digital and physical versions are in the works.

Looks lovely. I will check this one up, I can't hace enough 90s inspired platformers.
SHARK BUNNY is my new spirit animal!
Looks pretty good, a bit like Donkey Kong Country with a bit of Freedom Planet mixed in.
The cover art isn't great though, it makes the character look like a human child dressing up like a rabbit, rather than an actual rabbit.
Trailer is great, really good music. Platformers aren't exactly my go-to genre anymore but nonetheless I am slightly intrigued.
90's inspired? They surely meant to say Donkey Kong Country inspired.
Huh neat. Looks like something that would've given Sonic a run for its money on Genesis in the 90's. Might need to scoop this up.
Looks very Wonder Boy / Monster Boy, and that's a good thing
Looks like a competent DKC-inspired platformer. I'll keep my eye on it.
Looks generic but fun!
Reminds me a lot of Donkey Kong!
People really like the Sonic design pretty much.
Looks cute & fun. Maybe i’ll pick it up eventually
Looks pretty solid. I'll have to keep an eye on it.
Reminds me so much of the classic 2D Rayman and Donkey Kong Country games in terms of challenge, collectibles, and obstacles. Definitely checking it out soon.
Looks ok but that run animation is kinda weird.
Nice trailer. Might be worth downloading sometime.
It looks supercool! I loved the power-ups.

Looks pretty good, definitely seems like a game I would enjoy playing.
