@tektite_captain And there are still copied of The Hobbit being printed and sold by the publisher today, but that doesn't stop your local library from having it available for you to check out. Preservation keeps things available to everyone.
I have tried going back to HM/SoS since playing Stardew but the problem is the QoL features of Stardew have spoiled me, and even the nostalgia I have for the old games isn't enough to keep me playing.
This seems like peak Yamauchi-era Nintendo. They did so many things that shot themselves in the foot in the name of "protecting" their games.
This was the same time the N64 came out and they insisted on using cartridges instead of CDs to avoid piracy, which caused a lot of devs to jump ship including Square Enix.
Owned the first one on NES but we had no idea how to play it. Never had a SNES (Parents said we "already have a Nintendo"). Was a Nintendo kid for years, so I missed out on most of the games. I ended up getting a SNES classic when they came out and tried out FF6, ended up loving it and when COVID happened I played through the whole series. FFI will always hold a place in my heart though.
@Doctor-Moo There's a 3D PC version that is essentially an enhanced port of the DS version. It's also on mobile with controller compatibility if you're into that.
Eh, so I never finished the Trial of the Master Sword, but after those stupid bokoblins sniped me with their bows from 6 stories up, 1 KM away, I got fed up and stopped trying. I've got other things to do besides this.
One thing I would love to see on a new switch is where the joy-cons (or whatever the new controllers are called) could attach both on the sides of the screen, as well as the top and bottom, to allow the tablet to be oriented vertically, allowing for it to play DS games in the manner in which they were designed (and possibly 3DS games)
I started reading the headline and got so panicked in the half second it took me to finish reading it. Congratulations though, and Happy Birthday to a legend!
I remember buying a book called Final Fantasy: Memory of Herores, that was supposed to be an adaptation of the first 3 final fantasy games. These games are pretty sparse on lore and details, so I was really looking forward to a book that fleshed out the details of the stories. I would have even settled for a straight adaptation of the games. Instead, it cuts OUT details from the game, telling a bare bones story that reads more like a book report from the game, rather than an adaptation. The first game is told over about 20 pages, the second is a little longer. The third one has the most, but still cuts out most events from the game. I'd really like to see some of these older games MORE fleshed out in book form, as they could really expand the lore of what was possible in the early days of gaming.
I see these all over the shelves at my local stores (for perspective, Harry Potter and Star Wars sets are usually in limited stock. I guess I want them to stop with Mario and release the Zelda sets!
@Bunkerneath Look I'm not going to pretend there's not shovelware on the Switch, but its been a problem since the Wii. It's just more noticeable now because all digital games are in one place on the Switch, rather than being broken up by Virtual Console and Wiiware.
Yoshi’s Cookie doesn’t get enough love because most people just played the single player. I stand by that it had one of the best two player modes of any puzzle game of the era.
Given that it’s unlikely they’ll remake FFVI again so soon after the pixel remaster, then I would definitely say Chrono Trigger. There is already an amazing mock-up on YouTube of what the Magus fight could look like in HD-2D.
I remember reading somewhere that SE wanted to put FFXIV on Switch and Xbox, but Square said no to crossplay, even though it’s what Square wants to do.
I feel like once when Square was working closely with a company, and that company was refusing to listen to their advice, Square walked away and found another company to work with. Maybe they should do that again 🤔
I'm glad to hear this. The speed of the clock and the time it took to do everything was one of my biggest gripes. I also died twice in the demo due to not realizing how low my health was so I'm glad to have an indication.
I have a first world problem that I cannot go back to the classic Harvest Moon/SoS games because Stardew was TOO good, and now I can't play without the Quality of Life features that Stardew has.
Wait, wait, wait... You're telling me the 5 year old console isn't beating the newer more powerful system that is just starting to be able to catch up with demand?
Never thought I'd see the day something like this happened.
I was just telling my fiance, that Square Enix is going to be getting a lot of my money in the next 6 months. It doesn't help that now that summer is over, I just started getting back into FFXIV!
Maybe I'm expecting too much from a franchise that is primarily multiplayer, but I keep hoping for a single player mode that is more than just a series of missions, and would actually let me explore the badlands outside of Inkopolis. Don't tell me that wouldn't have been really interesting to see.
I just told a friend, that this new Splatoon feels like a new Call of Duty. More of the same, and I'm just not interested in the same. If there was a new story based single player campaign or a co-op campaign with friends, I'd be way more interested, but otherwise, I'm indifferent.
I really wish Nintendo would offer demos for their games. I don't want to pay $60 for this only to find I don't like it, as I've been burned too many times in the past. I get it's objectively good, but I did not enjoy playing Xenoblades 1 due to its combat feeling uninteresting. If you say this one has the best combat, I'm willing to give it another try, but not for $60.
As someone who knows NOTHING about persona, I was very confused on the difference between Persona 4 Golden and Persona 4 Royale. Pretty sure you meant Persona 5 Royale.

Still waiting for a port/remake of Yoshi's Cookie.
Re: Feature: 17 Reasons To Be Excited About The Super Mario RPG Remake
I really hope Culex makes it back. Hell they could add Culex as a bonus boss in FFXIV as a cross-promotion!
Re: Nintendo May Be Heading To A City Near You In The 'Summer Of Play' Tour (US)
@lemjor Everything is Detroit if it's in southeast Michigan. If it's southwest Michigan it's Grand Rapids. If it's neither, it's "up north".

Re: Review: Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster - A Beautiful And Faithful Reimagining Of The Classics
@NintendoLife I think there may be an error/update to the game. You can actually change the EXP modifier to x0.5 in all six games.

Mia is wielding a sword in the art in both. In the game she can only wield staves and maces. Worst boxart ever.
