Re: Review: Golden Sun - A Radiant RPG, Once It Gets Going

Kazman2007

Something I think a lot of people forget about Golden Sun is that in terms of RPGs, it was a huge step into the RPG genre for kids of a certain age raised on Nintendo. You’d been through two generations of Pokemon on game boy and were probably growing out of it. The N64 didn’t have much in the way of RPGs (at least nothing noteworthy). Golden Sun dropped at the right time for those kids looking for something to take them deeper down the RPG rabbit hole.

I loved the mailbag sections of magazines so thank you for bringing this back.

In regards to the indies, I just recently read blood sweat and pixels, and with the amount of work that indie developers put into their game, I would understand if they didn’t want to do a sequel. They also may just not have any more ideas for another game, as they put everything they had into the first.

In regards to N64 sports games. To me, that was the golden age of sports games. NFL Blitz, Wayne Gretzky 3D Hockey, etc. Unfortunately, around the turn of the millennium, publishers started to use “fun” and “realistic” interchangeably, and outside of a few outliers, we’ve lost that over the top arcade action that I loved.

Re: Feature: So, Which Zelda Games Aren't On Switch Yet?

I feel like you could solve the Four Swords Adventure coop issue with splitscreen as well. HD widescreen displays would allow them to put 4 GBA sized screens vertically stacked alongside the 4:3 display of Four Swords Adventure onto the switch without any compromises in gameplay.

@tektite_captain Libraries usually try to sell the books they don't rent out. They don't just throw them away. However, they do this because space is a concern when it comes to physical media. The nice thing with things going digital is it's possible to save things without needing a large physical space to store it all. Games preserved digitally are the same way, they don't have to get rid of less popular things to make room for new things.

Re: Poll: Which Was Your First 'Final Fantasy'?

Owned the first one on NES but we had no idea how to play it. Never had a SNES (Parents said we "already have a Nintendo"). Was a Nintendo kid for years, so I missed out on most of the games. I ended up getting a SNES classic when they came out and tried out FF6, ended up loving it and when COVID happened I played through the whole series. FFI will always hold a place in my heart though.
