The biggest hangup for me on a lot of these is the fact that split/shared screen co-op has a lot of interruptions in these games. Secret of Mana has to pause the game anytime either player opens the menu. Diablo doesn't pause, but it's hard for other players to see what's happening when I'm opening the menu to change my gear. I'd love to have more games like these, but they need to make sure the game menus work around the co-op, rather than in spite of it.
As someone who is outside of the Monster Hunter fandom, how many games and expansions are there? I feel like EVERY Nintendo Direct has some new MH news.
I'm glad to see love for 3D Land in here. I remember it fondly as one of my favorite Mario games but I was surprised to find it scoring lower on a lot of lists.
I'll be honest, that headline was bananas. It took me a few tries to understand what I was reading. Not trying to be unconstructive, I just think it could be worded a little more clearly. Then again, I'm not a journalist.
@Zadaris I've been hurt too many times before. Even if I saw a new trailer during the direct, I still wouldn't be convinced until I'm actually playing it.
This 100% gets the axe from Nintendo. Sadly, I think that will discourage people form backing the Kickstarter, which means this likely won't even get a start. Probably would be better to make a movie "Inspired by Zelda" but with its own characters and story (even if it involves a green-clad elf boy on an adventure).
I sunk a lot of time into the GBA app this year (Golden Sun and Golden Sun 2 finally came out). My biggest ACTUAL game was the Grandia HD Collection.
Metroid Prime HD also took up some time because of multiple playthroughs, but I expect Balatro will be my most played by End of December. I scoffed at that game when I heard it was nominated for GOTY but it really deserves it.
I wasn't going to get this considering I have both the Wii and 3DS version. But I started playing Tropical Freeze again a few weeks ago, and I definitely caught the DKC bug.
I'm not counting an announcement out, but I have a feeling that unless it's a big crossover thing with another company, Nintendo likes to keep stuff to their own events.
I recently replayed it with the Switch Kongs anywhere mod. Even with it....it's not aged well in a lot of ways. I'd rather see a spiritual sequel with some more thought out level design. Maybe a remake with the right tweaks, but if we get the vanilla version on NSO, I'll probably skip it.
If Nintendo had more to show they'd have done it before Black Friday. They've shown us what they've got for this year, and anything else to show for next year would cut into Christmas sales.
Time travel was the perfect power to integrate the story with the gameplay. I was really hoping it would be used again here, but they dug HARD into the alternate universe power, and frankly it's just uninteresting. It makes for a few good puzzles but it's not used effectively for the narrative. I'm sad because I do like Max as a character, but this did not get met back into the series.
Tate mode makes the most sense for handheld, but how about a way to stream what would be the lower screen onto your phone while you are playing on the TV? It seems like a really obvious solution to the problem.
Always happy for releases on more systems, but I have it on both my laptop and my iPad, so I don't feel the need to pick it up on Switch. Happy for those excited for it though!
Here's hoping it helps with a smooth launch. I'm hoping to buy one at launch but I need to see the damn thing first, and that's probably not going to happen until after Christmas.
Why not just make a new category for best remaster/remake, and best DLC/New Season? Then we could see things like Metroid Prime: Remastered up for best remake, and Splatoon 3: Side Order as best expansion.
Why are we missing so many songs? I understand the slow rollout of games because of having to test the emulation and whatnot. There is no reason this shouldn't have music from every first and second party Nintendo game right off the bat.
I won't lie, that price tag is pretty steep for a game that doesn't offer any variety between characters. Shredder's Revenge was $10 cheaper and felt different to play with each character you unlocked. I might have to wait for a sale.
I've tried so hard to get into the Xenoblade games with no success, so I probably won't be getting this one. But I'm happy for fans of the series who have been clamoring for it!
I just cannot justify buying an upgraded version of a game that I can still play on my computer now. I know they added some stuff but the core problems (like the level size) are still going to be there.
I do want this to do well because I think a true Yooka-Laylee 2 could fix a lot of the issues with the first, and I want Playtonic to get that chance. Even so, I can't justify buying this again.
I loved It Takes Two. Looking forward to what the dev has next. They announced that game at the Game Awards so I wouldn't be surprised if this gets revealed then too.

As a Golden Sun fan who has continually seen the Golden Sun trademark get renewed with no new game in sight…I’ll believe it when I see it.
