Anyone who has read Reggie's autobiography might remember how he had to fight to have Wii Sports packed in with the Wii, and how Miyamoto said "We do not give away our software."

It really feels like that mentality has won out even when it's clear that it shouldn't. 1,2,Switch should have been a Switch pack in and this should be a Switch 2 pack in.

The only use I could see is for purchasing a game as a gift for someone who only wants the digital version. I doubt this was a big enough issue though to necessitate this "innovation."

When they said it was a paid software I actually laughed out loud.

This is great, I own almost all my games digitally (since it's a mobile system, I like not having to lug around game cards). Now I can share games with my brother.

This reminds me of the Smash Dojo blog that Sakurai ran before Brawl came out. Everyday we'd log on to see what exciting news he had to share.

The fact that we have two directs a week apart with April Fool's Day in the middle is hilarious to me.

Obviously Nintendo could Shadow drop anything tomorrow, but I imagine we might see the zelda ports finally. I wouldn't mind Metroid 2 and 3 remaster but I'm not holding my breath.

As for third party games? FF Tactics and Chrono Trigger remakes are always a favorite of mine, as well as something really off the wall like a Skies of Arcadia Remake.

Oh, and Silksong.

I'm actually a little baffled. Unless it's 30 minutes of Metroid Prime 4, there have to be a few surprises in this since we don't have many other games on the docket.

I hope this isn't like the Earthbound/Mother anniversary where they gave us everything BUT a new game.

@sanderev Then it wouldn't be for you, but some people do use their Switch as a home console. So not exactly 0 reason.

If you're into the battling side of Pokemon, it was pretty good. If you're just someone who mainly likes catching and collecting, it kind of sucked. If you are in to both, you probably thought it was just okay.

Just let me play the classic games on NSO. It's not complicated!

I think Megaman is a game that lends itself to iterative sequels. The gameplay is usually shaken up by new weapons, platforming challenges, and bosses. A new Assassin's Creed is going to have you fighting nameless guards using mostly the same equipment, with very little challenge in the climbing and exploration mechanics. It's not about changing what works, it's about re-inventing it so that's it's interesting again.

I'm guessing they'll roll out something new for the Switch 2. We had club Nintendo points for a while which were replaced with the gold coin system, so I'm sure another new thing is around the corner to help with getting rewarded for purchases.

Didn't the "of quality" part of the "official nintendo seal" get dropped in the wii era? I thought the image on the right was the current version.

@EarthboundBenjy You beat me only on time. I had to stop on the Troupe Leader's Mask because I second guessed that it might be the Gorman Mask. Got it right though.

The modern conveniences of the 3DS version sadly do not offset the killing of a lot of what made the N64 version so memorable.

Just give me the ability to use it in portrait mode so that I can play DS games on it.

I almost never felt like my OG Switch was hard to see or that I needed a better screen. I could have upgraded but it wasn't necessary.

@danzoEX I've never played these games, is there another RPG you could compare them too so I could understand what to expect?

@AnnoyingFrenzy Occasionally I scroll the deals page, just in case there's a diamond in the rough, but outside of that not really.

They said that DQ3 HD-2D exceeded expectations so I'm sure it's still in development.

As you might guess from my picture…this pleases me.

The biggest hangup for me on a lot of these is the fact that split/shared screen co-op has a lot of interruptions in these games. Secret of Mana has to pause the game anytime either player opens the menu. Diablo doesn't pause, but it's hard for other players to see what's happening when I'm opening the menu to change my gear. I'd love to have more games like these, but they need to make sure the game menus work around the co-op, rather than in spite of it.

I get the desire to make the cases more uniform with PS5 and Xbox cases, but there's no other reason to make them this big.

As someone who is outside of the Monster Hunter fandom, how many games and expansions are there? I feel like EVERY Nintendo Direct has some new MH news.

I woudl like to see transforming vehicles since the Sonic racing games seem to have abandoned it.

I'm glad to see love for 3D Land in here. I remember it fondly as one of my favorite Mario games but I was surprised to find it scoring lower on a lot of lists.

I'll be honest, that headline was bananas. It took me a few tries to understand what I was reading. Not trying to be unconstructive, I just think it could be worded a little more clearly. Then again, I'm not a journalist.
