Nintendo Switch Sports has been a constant for many during the past few months, and with five sports already included in the game, fans have been waiting eagerly for an update that's been due on the fairways for a little while.
During today's Nintendo Direct, we now know that golf — which will be added as a free update — will be landing a little later than expected. Originally set to tee off this Fall, Nintendo revealed that it will be loading up the clubs for the courses just in time for the Holiday season instead. But we do know what to expect when we can don our golfing gear later in the year.
21 courses from previous Wii Sports games will be available from the start, as well as an eight-player online mode called 'Survival Golf', where the player with the most strokes will be booted out! Wow, who knew golf could be that brutal?
Let us know if you're looking forward to Switch Golf in the comments!

Huh delaying a update. At least they’re giving a bit more polish.
This better be the most polished golf game of all time.
Wake me up when this has a farming mode
It is troubling that development is taking so long to add golf… and still haven’t provided a date
Usually I'm all for delays when it'll make the final product even better, but when it's for an update that was announced before the game even came out? Ehhhhhhhhh, it's a harder pill to swallow if you ask me.
Battle Royale Golf is brilliant though.
This is just embarassing lol. This game is already severely lacking content and was pushed as an update focused game. Now it's taking almost a year for the first major update to come out. Imagine if this had been launched as a complete game like Wii Sports Resort? 🤔
I watched the jpn direct and I could’ve sworn they had a golf game that looked like the sims in theirs. Not sure if we will get this or not
Still no Boxing ? 🤨
I was thinking of buying this game when the golf was added because I thought it would have new courses, so it's a bit disappointing it's just the same ones from Wii Sports Resort. Admittedly the new backgrounds look good and the survival mode is probably fun but when I've still got my Wii plugged in this doesn't really seem worth buying.
21 holes... not 21 courses. So just a tad over 1 course. it's graphically so basic looking, surely adding another couple of courses wouldn't have been that much extra effort?
I want this to be good, but i expect it to be rubbish...
Honestly, Nintendo Switch Sports needs more sports .
Maybe this is why Nintendo of America didn't include the new Clap Hanz Golf game in today's Direct even though it was in Japan's. It's available now on the US eShop for $19.99. I absolutely love this series and it's especially important now since the latest Mario Golf was so lackluster.
@Gofixmeaplate Yes! It's called Easy Come Easy Golf and it's available NOW for $19.99.

Mindblowing that Nintendo of America chose to skip these and show a bunch of delayed or 2023 games.
This is my favorite Nintendo sports title, so glad it's getting some more polish.
yeah, i kinda gave up on this game a while ago ngl
it gets repetitive imo
I think they straight up forgot they had to work on it. You had me excited about 21 courses but as someone mentioned, it's 21 holes, which is a weird number considering one course is 18 holes, and odder still that they needed a delay for 21 basic looking holes that a college student could design in his sleep, but whatever.
Something is off or missing from this edition of Wii/Switch Sports (and it isn't just Golf). I really think they should have included all the sports from the previous 2 Wii Sports games + more for a new entry so many years later... not just 6 sports and a couple others down the line. Happens too often it seems this gen with some games seemingly being the right idea, but then too light on content.
Also, I kinda miss the Mii craze and the MiiVerse / Mii Plaza of DS & Wii era. Lots of creative creations with limited tools. And they were easier to transfer and share then. Think the Miis are something they should've integrated & expanded more on and kept it going on Switch! Glad they aren't fully forgotten. Bring those communities and the Mii Craze back! That would've added a lot more character & charm to this game.
That being said, I'm all for more sports games on Switch! Still hoping for a new:
.. think it's also time for a Mario (American) Football Game
... Wun can only hope.
Glad I skipped this game on release because it was incomplete. I might buy it in a few years when it’s complete on cart and on sale.
@ohithere How good are the motion controls?
I thought I was going to buy this game like 1.5-2 years after release and they would’ve maybe had 10 sports. But at this pace I doubt we’ll see much more. I can’t believe it’s taking this long to remake old courses, like at that point at least make some new ones, nobody cares about the graphics compared to restort if it’s still the same golf
@SpaceboyScreams There are 3 special holes in Wii Sports Resort, so it is possible the extra 3 holes here are the same as those.
@Nintendo_Thumb So far I've only played a single round of 9 holes using three button click controller style. The actual golf feels great to me, though the trappings feel a bit rough compared to past games IMO.
21 holes is not the same thing as 21 courses
@ohithere okay, but how were the motion controls? Does it feel like you're golfing when you swing the controller or not? Because if not, who cares? People don't buy Switch Sports so they can sit on a couch and push buttons. If that's all this is, then I'm not sure why you'd even bring it up.
I don't play golfing games with motion controls, sorry. I love the 3 click style.
