I played through The Great Ace Attorney earlier this year and have just finished part 1 of the original trilogy. I now see why the series is so beloved.
The characters, the writing, the insanely rewarding payoffs at the end of each game (seriously, the ending of GAA2 might be the most satisfying ending to a game I've ever played). I'm definitely going to play the whole series.
Ocarina of Time is peak nostalgia for me. Everything about it makes me feel like I'm 11 years old again, especially the music. Time to dust off the ol' 3DS and play it for the one hundredth time. Happy 25th birthday.
I've never seen a comment section so universally full of praise. For a kids TV show at that!
Bluey is incredible. We all watch it as a family and I'm taking the kids to see Bluey live in February. I think I'm more excited about it than they are.
@Rainz Makes you wonder why more companies don't follow suit. They do not know how to manage hype at all. Starfield is a prime example of this. Great game buckling under the pressure of its own expectations.
Wonder looks wonderful. Will be a great co op game to play with the kids in the Xmas period.
Can't wait. Own it on Xbox but will play it so much more on Switch. Glad to hear performance is generally ok. For 6 quid with the DLC this is the best value game on the market.
@RobynAlecksys Nah, I love fun. Can't get enough of it. The 'New' series of 2D Mario stopped being fun for me a while ago. It's fine though, we don't all have to love everything.
@FishyS Don't worry about that. I had similar feelings but it's not complicated at all. It's actually super intuitive. There are a limited amount of tools so it's never overwhelming.
The sheer audacity of the white text on a solid black background to introduce the game is great. It's them saying "We know what we have made here, and it's a bloody masterpiece".
@Cashews I was in agreement with you when looking at the promo and pre release stuff, but after getting my hands on it, it's a really fun ability to use. They have already shown some creative ways of using it for puzzles.
I'm only a few hours in so it remains to be seen whether it will trivialise some things, but so far its a really good addition.
@Cashews Fair enough. The constant praise of Valve/ worship of Gabe on places like Reddit can get a bit irritating.
We will have to agree to disagree on your point though. I agree that PC gaming is in no way niche, however I think a dedicated handheld for it is. I would imagine the Deck is already turning a profit for them and they are designing the successor.
I don't see the deck as a Switch competitor. They are aiming for entirely different markets and the difference in sales figures show that. As I said in my previous comment, simplicity is key for most mainstream gamers.
@Cashews I would say the Deck has been a relative success. It was always going to be a niche handheld device that doesn't need to sell 100 million to be considered worthwhile. I don't have one as I barely have time to play my Switch as it is.
There is something to the simplicity of the Switch that is really appealing. Pop in a game and play. No tweaking of settings or having to fiddle about downloading drivers etc. There will always be a market for that, regardless of how underpowered it may be. Convenience trumps power for a lot of people.
I wish they would release the old games on Switch (and not as part of a subscription service). A Fire Emblem collection of the NES/ SNES games I would be extremely interested in.
I didn't get into the series until Awakening so would love a convenient way to play the older games handheld (that isn't my phone).
@FishyS It's the framerate more than the graphics. I'm playing my 3DS as I type this so graphics don't bother me. I'm not a framerate snob either - 30fps is fine. I just can't handle inconsistent frame rates.
I might just start playing and see how it is. It'll likely take me a few months to complete anyway so the patch will be released while I'm playing.
@TrickySx4 They will give it similar treatment as the Tactics Ogre remaster. A HD lick of paint, performance enhancements, some balance tweaks and a new VO. And I shall be right there ready to purchase it.
I own Pokemon Violet (bought as my son's Xmas present) but I've been waiting for the performance patch before starting it. Does anyone more in the know have any more information on when it's happening? Or have they been radio silent?
Wow, they did loads to it. It looks so much better now. Baffles me that some people think the Gamecube graphics hold up. That resolution on modern 4k TVs is really hard to look at.

In my top 10 games of all time.
Re: Soapbox: Ocarina Of Time's Deku Tree Dungeon Is Still My All-Time Top Gaming Moment
Great introductory dungeon to 3D Zelda. Although, in my opinion, surpassed several times later within the same game.

Easily Goss Harag.
Re: Talking Point: Going Home - Ocarina Of Time's Best Locales

Re: Action RPG With 'Overwhelmingly Positive' Reception Launches On Switch This Week
Game looks like it could be decent but that first screenshot is so off putting.
Re: Xbox Developer Open To A Switch Release Of Pentiment
You can keep your Elden Rings and God of Wars, Pentiment was my game of the year in 2022. It would be great if more people got to play it.

Re: Review: F-Zero 99 - A Brilliant Battle-Royale Revival That Plays To The Series' Strengths
It's fantastic. I'm not a huge F Zero guy but I love it. I really hope they continue to support it.

Re: Steamworld Build Plasters Up A December Release Date On Switch
2023 just won't let up. It's crazy how good this year has been for games. I just wish I had time to play them all.
All the Steamworld games have been great so far. There is a demo for this on Steam if anyone is interested. Seems cool.
Re: Retro RPG 'Sea Of Stars' Approaches Release With Another Stunning Trailer
Looks brilliant. Going to play it on Gamepass and pick up the Switch physical next year.
Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Technical Analysis Of Red Dead Redemption On Switch
I'll buy the physical once I see it sub-£30. That's the magic price for me for most games.
Re: Review: Vampire Survivors - Kiss Healthy Sleep Goodbye With This Must-Play Roguelike

Re: Red Dead Redemption's Estimated File Size Revealed On The Switch eShop
@citizenerased I find it really difficult to compare the two. They are intentionally such different games. Both have their strengths and weaknesses.
If I was asked to pick my favourite, I'd probably say the first one (just!).
Re: Baldur's Gate 3 Surpasses Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom As 2023's Highest-Rated Game "So Far"
@Wheatly Let's hope we get a third with Starfield.

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Has Been Rated For Nintendo Switch
@Wheatly I had the opposite reaction. 2D Mario has been so stale and formulaic that I had no interest in anything new.
This looks different and exciting. The art style is gorgeous. Fingers crossed the rest of the game feels just as fresh.
Re: The Next Pokémon Presents Could Be Soon, According To A New Datamine
Next game in the Legends series please. I loved Arceus.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Can Still Be Enjoyed By New Players
Just had my copy shipped by shopto.net. hopefully I'll get it in Thursday (possibly tomorrow).
I don't tend to get too hyped for games these days but BOTW is my favourite game and that last trailer really did it for me. Can't wait.

@Dom_31 Hollow Knight looks incredible on the OLED handheld.
Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of The New Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Font?
It's way better. That original font is fugly. It perhaps could have been bolder in certain places but it's more than adequate.
Re: Keiji Inafune Is The Producer Of Level-5's New Fantasy Life Game On Switch
If this doesn't turn out to be good then I'll be crying like an anime fan on prom night.

I love my Split Pad Pro but really wish it had rumble.
Re: Talking Point: Should Link Have Voice Acting In The Next Zelda Game?
Nah, I think that ship sailed with Breath of the Wild. If there was ever a time to give him a voice it would have been then.
Re: Tin Hearts, The Toy-Sized Lemmings-Alike, Is Now A Timed-Exclusive On Switch
Wonder what the story is here. Surely Nintendo wouldn't pay for a month of exclusivity? Game looks decent, hope it turns out well.

Re: Metroid Prime Remastered Physical Pre-Purchase Live On Nintendo Store (US)
PSA for anyone in the UK. Shopto still have the game up for preorder for £29.85.
Re: UK Charts: Pokémon Scarlet And Violet Fall Out Of The Top Ten In A Week Of Stiff Competition

Re: Video: Metroid Prime Remastered - Switch Vs. GameCube Comparison
@RubyCarbuncle That's fair enough. Something I never thought about. I would imagine the majority of people do not have older TV sets.
