Got a copy coming from Shopto.net for 42 quid. I can afford it and want to play it, so I'm happy to pay it. I bet it will look fantastic on the Switch Lite screen.
@RupeeClock Cheers. So there is some form of progression then. I've never played any of these but have always had an interest in them. Will pick this up for the me and the kids if the reviews are favourable.
Great article. Samus being female probably seems so normal to people today. It's hard to overstate how much of a shock it was finding it out way back when. The industry really was dominated by male characters at that time, with females often in support/ damsel-in-distress roles.
It's up for debate how much that has really changed but it's great seeing more female main characters in games.
@John_Deacon No arguments from me. It's a phenomenal game and up there with the best. Funnily enough, I remember arguments over whether that game was worth the money at the time as people claimed it was a "rehashed version of ALTTP".
@zool I have read it again. Wasn't a suggestion. You literally told people not to 'fall into a trap'. This is the opposite of a trap. It's a known quantity. We know how much content is in the game and the changes. If you do not think it is worth the money (as many here do) that's fair enough. Don't preach and tell people what they should or shouldn't buy.
@zool Don't tell people what to buy or not buy. People work hard for their money and can choose to do with it as they wish. Why is the Internet so seemingly obsessed with value and preaching to others about it? Perception of value is intrinsic to the person choosing whether or not to buy.
Also, you have no idea as to people's financial situations. If they can afford to buy it and want to, then who the hell is anyone to say that they shouldn't?
@Max_the_German ah yes, I forgot about the Links Awakening remake. I guess that is 60fps... sometimes. Let's hope Skyward Sword is an improvement on that effort.
They have actually done a ton of work to this. 1080p 60fps is massive. I'm struggling to think of any Zelda game that has been 60fps...? Help me out. The QoL changes will streamline the game a lot as well. This trailer has tipped me over the edge to get it day one.
I am appalled beyond belief that the crabs from Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom have not made it onto this list. Your journalistic integrity has been brought into question and you shall no longer be receiving my custom. Good day!
Or maybe it's just because I'm playing it at the moment...
It's crazy to think that not so long ago lots of people (me included) were bemoaning the fact that Metroidvanias were being neglected (with both Metroid and Castlevania MIA). I love the renaissance the genre is going through. Loads of great modern options. I agree with Roy130; more quality games can never be a bad thing. If this isn't for you then just skip it and play something else.
Great interview. Other than the occasional frame drop in docked mode MHR runs a treat. It looks amazing as well. It's up there with BOTW as one of the best looking games on Switch in my opinion. It seems that Capcom have a great tool on their hands with the RE engine.
A mixture of Yakuza 7 and Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition on PC, and Monster Boy and the the Cursed Kingdom on Switch. So far I am enjoying all three of them immensely. At some point I will start Mass Effect 2 after finishing the first in the Legendary Edition last week. Oh, and I need to start Trails in the Sky SC at some point. So many RPGs, so little time....
Awesome news. I finished Trails in the Sky FC last weekend. Its a slow burn with a great pay off and I hear the series gets better as it goes along. Playing these on the Switch will be great.
Real glad that this is getting a demo. Monster Hunter has been my second favourite franchise for over a decade. I never played the first one so the demo will help determine if this is for me. On paper it sounds perfect but I'm still not sold on the battle system. For anyone that played the first one; is it more engaging/ difficult than modern Pokemon?
@1UP_MARIO It's literally because it now runs in HD. It never did on the Wii. Its a shame they haven't put a bit more work into textures. etc. However, I adore the art style of SS. I remember playing it on the Wii back in the day and imagining what it would look like in HD. Same as Mario Galaxy.
So many good games coming out this year. I have a list of about 12 I'm going to buy day one. Cannot remember the last time that happened (across all consoles).
@SnobbyLuigi Ah, that's a shame. It's a cracking game. I played it on PC as I've heard middling things about the performance on Switch. How far did you get? It really started to hook me once I got onto the train level. I thought it was such a creative idea and something I have never seen in a 3D platformer before.
@outsider83 Ha! No disrespect taken. My kids are a bit too young to understand most board games to be fair, so hopefully the time will come. My wife isn't the biggest board game fan but that might change once the kids are more interested. Plenty of good times to come!
Looks neat. Didn't play the first YL, but very much enjoyed The Impossible Lair. I'm always tempted to buy board games like these. If only my wife/ kids would show any interest in playing them...
I love the new Commander models/ animations. Also, the way the whole environment looks like a board game is awesome. It reminds me of the Links Awakening remake, everything is very toy-like (which I loved). However, I can take or leave the new unit models. I don't dislike them. They are just a bit bland.
I am so excited for this. I'm a little bummed that it's a full priced release, but i'll buy it anyway. The two campaigns together are at least 40 hours of gameplay. I have been gagging for anything Advance Wars related for over a decade at this point...
@thechetearly Might be a little premature to judge the game based on that. It's a mainline Zelda game that will have taken over 5 years to develop by the time it comes out. I doubt it's as simple as using the same map and adding some floating bits.
The most striking thing to me about the trailer was how much better it looked than Breath of the Wild graphically. It's partly expected due to the extra amount of time they have had with the hardware but it looks to be a pretty significant leap to me.
@crzysortagamer The art design and scope of the environments in Xenoblade are some of the best I've ever seen. There are some muddy textures but beauty isn't defined by how many pixels/ polygons you can fit onto the screen.
If you haven't seen this game in motion then you owe it to yourself to give it a chance. I think it's going to look fantastic in 3D.
All we have is a codename though. If they aren't going to release any details until next year then it could still be 2-3 years until it's release. That will mean the 3DS is 6-7 years old. Sounds realistic to me.
Also with the Wii U they have already started winding down. Expect it's life cycle to be shorter than consoles that have come before it, especially if the next console combines portable and home.
For anyone declaring this is the end for Nintendo; take a deep breath and think before posting. A lot of you want to see Nintendo competing with the big two again. There is no way this will happen without making moves like this. The market has changed immeasurably in the last decade or so and Nintendo hasn't moved with it. If we all still want to be playing new Nintendo games in twenty, ten or even five years then something has to change.
Did he use one codename for both consoles? If so then has this been done before or does it indicate that this generation will be a portable/ home console hybrid?
About time. A market with basically unlimited potential for them. It makes perfect business sense to go into it and I'm surprised it hasn't happened earlier.
No need to panic. It's not as if the next main series Zelda or Mario is going to be on android/ iPhone. It'll be games like Pokemon shuffle and other small puzzle games using Nintendo IP. More money to develop the games we want can't be a bad thing.
Another 2 month wait for us Europeans... Probably just as well, I bought Majora's Mask on launch day and haven't touched it due to MH4 stealing all of my spare time.
