Re: Soapbox: Super Metroid Showed Me I Had The Right To Exist

Great article. Samus being female probably seems so normal to people today. It's hard to overstate how much of a shock it was finding it out way back when. The industry really was dominated by male characters at that time, with females often in support/ damsel-in-distress roles.

It's up for debate how much that has really changed but it's great seeing more female main characters in games.

Re: Here's How Nintendo Is Improving Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Over The Wii Original

@zool I have read it again. Wasn't a suggestion. You literally told people not to 'fall into a trap'. This is the opposite of a trap. It's a known quantity. We know how much content is in the game and the changes. If you do not think it is worth the money (as many here do) that's fair enough. Don't preach and tell people what they should or shouldn't buy.

Re: Here's How Nintendo Is Improving Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Over The Wii Original

@zool Don't tell people what to buy or not buy. People work hard for their money and can choose to do with it as they wish. Why is the Internet so seemingly obsessed with value and preaching to others about it? Perception of value is intrinsic to the person choosing whether or not to buy.

Also, you have no idea as to people's financial situations. If they can afford to buy it and want to, then who the hell is anyone to say that they shouldn't?

Re: Back Page: The Ten Best Crabs On The Nintendo Switch

Jey887

I am appalled beyond belief that the crabs from Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom have not made it onto this list. Your journalistic integrity has been brought into question and you shall no longer be receiving my custom. Good day!

Or maybe it's just because I'm playing it at the moment...

Re: Review: Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights - A Metroidvania With A Stunning World To Discover

It's crazy to think that not so long ago lots of people (me included) were bemoaning the fact that Metroidvanias were being neglected (with both Metroid and Castlevania MIA). I love the renaissance the genre is going through. Loads of great modern options. I agree with Roy130; more quality games can never be a bad thing. If this isn't for you then just skip it and play something else.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 26th)

A mixture of Yakuza 7 and Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition on PC, and Monster Boy and the the Cursed Kingdom on Switch. So far I am enjoying all three of them immensely. At some point I will start Mass Effect 2 after finishing the first in the Legendary Edition last week. Oh, and I need to start Trails in the Sky SC at some point. So many RPGs, so little time....

My most anticipated game this year.

I love the new Commander models/ animations. Also, the way the whole environment looks like a board game is awesome. It reminds me of the Links Awakening remake, everything is very toy-like (which I loved). However, I can take or leave the new unit models. I don't dislike them. They are just a bit bland.

Re: Video: Let's Dissect Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2's E3 Direct Trailer

Jey887

@thechetearly Might be a little premature to judge the game based on that. It's a mainline Zelda game that will have taken over 5 years to develop by the time it comes out. I doubt it's as simple as using the same map and adding some floating bits.

The most striking thing to me about the trailer was how much better it looked than Breath of the Wild graphically. It's partly expected due to the extra amount of time they have had with the hardware but it looks to be a pretty significant leap to me.

Re: Nintendo Set To License All IP to Mobile Publisher DeNA

@Artwark

All we have is a codename though. If they aren't going to release any details until next year then it could still be 2-3 years until it's release. That will mean the 3DS is 6-7 years old. Sounds realistic to me.

Also with the Wii U they have already started winding down. Expect it's life cycle to be shorter than consoles that have come before it, especially if the next console combines portable and home.

@Barely_Able

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification.

For anyone declaring this is the end for Nintendo; take a deep breath and think before posting. A lot of you want to see Nintendo competing with the big two again. There is no way this will happen without making moves like this. The market has changed immeasurably in the last decade or so and Nintendo hasn't moved with it. If we all still want to be playing new Nintendo games in twenty, ten or even five years then something has to change.

Re: Nintendo Set To License All IP to Mobile Publisher DeNA

About time. A market with basically unlimited potential for them. It makes perfect business sense to go into it and I'm surprised it hasn't happened earlier.

No need to panic. It's not as if the next main series Zelda or Mario is going to be on android/ iPhone. It'll be games like Pokemon shuffle and other small puzzle games using Nintendo IP. More money to develop the games we want can't be a bad thing.
