Re: Electronic Arts Is Bringing Zoink's Fe To Switch In 2018

IronMan28

@kobashi100 I hope it does sell well, I'm just saying I can't picture that scenario. And if it does, great, more variety is never a bad thing. But you have to admit EA hinging its hopes on one franchise that sells well in one market and "okay" in another is not a smart move, not for gauging demand of EA games on Switch.

Re: Playtonic Gives Update On Yooka-Laylee For Switch

IronMan28

@Equinox The only excuse most devs have is they lacked a dev kit soon enough to start making games in year one. And with how poorly Wii U sold, I don't think most of them would've had confidence in the Switch at launch. I'd argue that the time when they shouldn't have confidence has passed, but I'm still not expecting anything to really get going until year 2.

Re: Nintendo Download: 10th August (North America)

IronMan28

I'm busy with Retro City Rampage, Splatoon 2, and still need to finish BotW so Sonic Mania will wait, so will Mario + Rabbids. Also, throw in ARMS and MK8 DX, I have too much going on right now with current software. It's amazing how much better the first few months of Switch are compared to pretty much every console on the market in the same time period from their respective launches. There is no comparison between Switch and Wii U in the first few months in terms of quality and cadence, Switch puts Wii U to shame.

Re: Take-Two "Very Optimistic" About Switch, Expects Sales To "Continue To Be Great"

IronMan28

If they hadn't announced more games for it by now, I'd feel less optimistic about what anyone from Take Two has to say. However, the recent announcements make me less uneasy about their support. Do I expect GTA or RDR 2? Not really, but the 2K sports games are at least reasonable enough to consider Switch-bound for a while, especially since they're filling the void that a certain other sports-video gamepublishing company is leaving open on Switch.

Re: Feature: Just How Hard Is It To Buy A Nintendo Switch In Japan?

IronMan28

I think at this point it's undeniable Switch is doing well in Japan and fairly well in US. Although PS4 outsold Switch in June, apparently the latter drove up hardware sales in terms of revenue. That indicates Switch is still selling and expanding the market. On a related note, I've seen Switch once in stores around my area after launch. Haven't seen one since.

Re: Nintendo's Market Capitalisation Overtakes Sony's Following Switch Success

IronMan28

@Anti-Matter I'm not sure I understand the question, but I'll give it a shot.
Sony's been bleeding cash as a company for a while now, and PS has been keeping it afloat since about 2010. It's recovered some, but there was a five year span where the company lost money. Nobody emphasizes that on gaming sites because it pertains to the parent company and not the PS brand. But before the PS3's turnaround and the PS4, Sony was doing pretty badly. I believe they've recovered decently, but they're still not in great shape overall.

In short, yes.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Surge Past A Million In Japan

IronMan28

@alasdair91 No, people aren't forgetting that, I mentioned it in my first post and I'm sure someone did before me. People here get that it actually could have sold a million faster if it weren't for the March launch. Also, I'm not sure about the last part of your post...

Re: Nintendo's Market Capitalisation Overtakes Sony's Following Switch Success

IronMan28

@Spoony_Tech Sony's only business that's consistently performed well in a while is its video game sector. I've read in many of my business school books that Sony is largely a fading brand, which is true for the most part. PlayStation has carried that sinking ship for a while.

Regardless, I wouldn't read too much into this, all the stock price indicates is that the market believes management is running the company well. While that's probably true right now, it's largely based on gut feelings, which is why I hate the stock market.

Re: Nintendo Switch Sales Surge Pass A Million In Japan

IronMan28

Switch's price will certainly decrease once they sell more, but I feel like for Japan, the reason Switch just hit 1 mil is because of shortages and when it was launched. Those 2 factors are why Switch hasn't beaten Wii in Japan for the same period. Plus, we can't really compare Switch directly with any mass manufactured gaming device before it. So that makes direct comparisons unfair in all cases. With Wii U, Nintendo also never had a shortage, so that's a good indicator that it's at least in demand compared to (one of) its ill-fated predecessor.

Nintendo fighting for components from considerably larger companies also doesn't help matters, that's why there is still a shortage. And once Splatoon 2 hits, the Japanese will go even crazier for the console. I can't wait for that, only because it means finding matches in Splatoon 2 will be extremely easy from launch.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aimé Defends Nintendo's Indie Support and AM2R Policy

IronMan28

This was an excellent interview. Reggie usually gives the responses that he's allowed. Anyone who thinks he'll give anything but PR responses is kidding themselves, and there is nothing wrong with what he does. Frankly, I can appreciate the reasoning for pretty much everything E3-related. I'm also eager to hear about more 2018 games that are unannounced for Switch.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Went Its Own Way at E3 2017, and It Mostly Worked

IronMan28

It was a good E3 for me, I would be more upset if they spent time talking about apps like Netflix on Switch than games for the console. They can save announcements like that for PR releases on a random Tuesday for all I care. Yeah, some of the games they announced (and showed) are a ways out, but Switch is new. If you're expecting everything year one, I don't know what to tell you because that is not the goal for any console on the market (and it shouldn't be).
