Re: Interview: Learning More About the Adventure in Wii U Exclusive Twisted Fusion

IronMan28

@rjejr As much as I hope they do make Switch their sole platform (more games on it for me) I don't think they'll do that. So, there is hope for dual screen gameplay, just not on the console side of the equation. And let's be honest, you spent $350 because you felt it was worth it, as did I, and it turned out to be a bad investment. Life is full of bad investments.

@rjejr " Oops, I forgot, no dual screen play for Switch and Wii U has been abandoned after only 4 years, never-mind. "

Come on, as much as I liked the Wii U, it didn't sell well. We all know it, and it's a shame Nintendo has to change things up. But the Switch appeals to me.

Regardless, this game does look like it could be good, although it looks like it's very zoomed out.

Re: Talking Point: Imagining a Future Nintendo Switch Budget Spin-Off - A Non-Switching Microconsole

IronMan28

Honestly, I see Switch being a console with a Scorpio or "Pro" like upgrade down the line. Iwata said Nintendo wanted to do something like smartphones with its future devices, and I can see that coming true with Switch. Pricing and timing will be a factor, of course. Scorpio seems like it will be a worthy upgrade because it will be long enough after initial launch for the product to seem worthwhile. Hopefully Switch gets to the point where Nintendo can produce upgrades because that would be an awesome way to leverage it.

Re: Talking Point: The Problems With My Nintendo So Far, and Why All's Not Lost

IronMan28

@yomanation Honestly, they have to get more consistent and up-to-date software to improve. I say that because they have plenty of games on eShop, but often the games release on Steam much sooner, giving many people less of a reason to purchase those games on Nintendo devices. And yes, even the bundles could be better, but again, a higher volume would help alleviate that issue. Notice I am making no excuses for Nintendo, just stating the current situation...

Re: Talking Point: The Problems With My Nintendo So Far, and Why All's Not Lost

IronMan28

@yomanation I purposely buy Indie and the (few) third-party games available on Wii U since it shows that there are users who want to play those games on Nintendo devices. People who buy those games elsewhere are entitled to do so, but that is my stance on Indies and third-parties, I want to be part of what I feel is the solution so I buy the content I want on Nintendo systems.

Re: Talking Point: The Problems With My Nintendo So Far, and Why All's Not Lost

IronMan28

@yomanation You make very valid points about settling for less. We do not have to settle for less. I'm just saying that on a general level they can't compete for the same market as the other big players. They do need to improve it, how they'll do that exactly isn't very easy. Offering more free games would go a long way, and the humble bundles they had were a good idea for people unlike me (and probably you) who buy pretty much every Indie game at launch anyway. Sadly, it doesn't help people who are truly loyal to Nintendo and its partners. They should just go back to mixing physical and digital rewards like in Club Nintendo. I could have sworn Reggie or some other executive from Nintendo said they would consider physical rewards for My Nintendo members, but I could also be remembering that wrong, lol.

Re: Talking Point: The Problems With My Nintendo So Far, and Why All's Not Lost

IronMan28

@yomanation Nintendo is a much smaller company than either Sony or MS, both in terms of people employed and the amount of money they earn. Plus, they lack the same resources as either competitor. If you think Nintendo targeting casuals during the Wii era was an accident, you're wrong. They assumed they could compete directly with Sony and MS in the current generation, which was wrong. If they could have, Wii U would not be where it is today.

Re: Talking Point: The Problems With My Nintendo So Far, and Why All's Not Lost

IronMan28

Okay, anyone who thinks Nintendo has the capacity to offer the same caliber of rewards as Sony or MS is delusional. Now that that's out of the way, Nintendo could still improve their customer loyalty program substantially. I think most people are missing the point that they're trying to get people to purchase more third-party content because their rewards are currently only first party offerings. Either way, it's on Nintendo to emphasize buying third-party games is what they want customers to do. My Nintendo needs to improve, and hopefully when NX launches it will follow suit.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Highlights the Allure of a Larger Audience and Reaching Kids With Super Mario Run

IronMan28

As it stands, if the games are like this, MAYBE Nintendo can convince non-gamers into buying their devices again. Pokemon Go brought in a lot of lapsed fans, hopefully Mario run does the same for Mario and Nintendo devices in general. I remain skeptical, but I could be proven incorrect, and I hope I am dead wrong that I believe it honestly won't benefit their consoles to do this.

Re: Bethesda Doesn't Rule Out Nintendo NX Support, But "It's Too Early to Say"

IronMan28

You'd think after so many generations of not getting support from publishers, fans would've realized that they should buy the few offerings from those publishers if they want to see more from them. Yes, power is a factor, but nobody wants to take the blame for not supporting third-parties on Nintendo devices. Of course, there could be more in play, but as fans, all we can (and should) do is whenever a third-party multi-platform game from a large publisher comes to NX, maybe we can buy it. You can scream "but we'll get it cheaper/better/with more DLC somewhere else," but the bottom line is that we aren't helping by complaining about third-parties and not supporting them whenever they do finally show support. While they can be incessantly annoying, they still remain relevant, and not buying a multiplatform game for a Nintendo system is just you saying that you don't want them there.

Re: Celebrate 30 Years of Metroid With The Fan-Made "AM2R"

IronMan28

As much as I love this and the idea, Nintendo doesn't care as much about Metroid as Westerners do. They will probably never put the resources they should into projects like this, and it is pretty sad to me. It would be awesome for Nintendo to hire this team and get them to develop a new Metroid for NX.

Re: Hands On: Painting a Clearer Picture of Paper Mario: Color Splash

IronMan28

Well, looks pretty good to me, the Paper Mario games were more about humor in my view. The battles look improved compared to Sticker Star, where you couldn't target enemies, which was honestly one of my biggest gripes about that game. Color Splash looks like it will be to Sticker Star as 3D World was to 3D Land, which is fine by me.

And no @Grumblevolcano, it won't be hilarious if Nintendo hasn't revealed NX by then, it'll be bizarre and sad.

Re: Nintendo Is Now More Valuable Than Sony Thanks To Pokémon GO

IronMan28

As others have pointed out, this news is virtually meaningless unless you're interested in investing in Nintendo. With the likely nosedive shares will take once NX is announced (it has to blow people's expectations away for Nintendo's share prices to stay where they are) this news will likely matter even less. The market's been asking for mobile Nintendo games for 6 years or so, ANY level of success would have been considered massive. In the age of casino capitalism, where people buy and sell shares quickly, don't read too much into this report.

Re: Pokémon GO is "Something Very Special" as a Staggering $7 Billion is Added to Nintendo's Company Value

IronMan28

I think some people misunderstand what this news really means. Market value is literally the value of shares out there and nothing of profits, and it is no surprise that the release of an oft-requested franchise going mobile garnered the response it did from the market. Simply put, investors have been asking for Pokemon mobile for a while, and any level of success would've led to improved share value. The market got what it wanted, and it insists that Nintendo's management knows what it is doing as a result. That's literally all this means.

@gatorboi352 "Nintendo of the future should focus on home console work (NX) and mobile."

It's odd that you say the opposite of what most people believe is right for the Big N. What's weirder is I agree with you to an extent.
