A week or two ago a Switch 'News' category popped up on the system for forma.8, confirming that the intriguing exploration title that graced the Wii U was coming to the new system. Developer MixedBag has now outlined the release details - it'll arrive on 24th August in North America and Europe priced at $9.99 / €9.99 / £8.99.
Beyond that, MixedBag has also confirmed that it's helping to publish two more games on the system. Details on these (trailers, press release descriptions) are below.
Wheels of Aurelia - Developed by Santa Ragione (October)
A narrative road trip game set in the roaring Italian 70s, it tells the story of Lella, a restless woman driving on the roads of the western coast of Italy, the famous “Via Aurelia”.
This is an interactive fiction game in the shape of an isometric racer and with a focus on replayability: every playthrough lasts about fifteen minutes and there are sixteen different endings to discover.
ATOMINE - Developed by Broken Arms Games (2017)
ATOMINE is a twin stick procedural shooter rogue-lite set in a virtual world with minimalist design, where the player recounts on the screen the real events of STUXNET, the first weapon ever created in the form of computer virus.
In every run the player has to clear the level area from all the enemies in order to unlock the portal to the next level. During the run every killed enemy will leave on the ground XPs, energy and/or weapon modules.
If you're heading to Gamescom next week, meanwhile, forma.8 and Wheels of Aurelia will be playable at the MixedBag booth (Italian pavilion: hall 04.1 booth B014 A013).
More intriguing titles on the way to Switch eShop; what do you think of these ones?

It tends to annoy people if you add nothing to a conversation.
Well. I think it's pretty obvious we'll be seeing frame rate drops for Atomine
Am happy forma.8 is coming to switch as i missed out on it on wii u
Got forma.8 on my iPad - just not played it yet. By all accounts, it's a pretty rad game though. This is precisely the kind of indie I want to see come to Switch from Steam/mobile.
It's so disappointing that you didn't even review the game on WiiU. I loved when you were reviewing every single game for every Nintendo console, you started it all with this goal in mind, didn't you? We're not talking about THATGUY here, plus they're italian so I'm even more disappointed
Hmm... Right on
@Krillin_ It's a fantastic game that I can't imagine trying to play with a virtual analog stick. The movement is very well done but needs the feel of physical control.
Yet another Wii U PORT.........and the world wept with joy.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE while I have zero problem with seeing original efforts on the Switch, I have zero problem as well with any ports that land on the system. A great game is a great game regardless of age or origin. Meanwhile, I applaud your ability to get the hot Switch news that you help bring to this site. Thx, Joe
@SLIGEACH_EIRE You seem to have missed the two new games announced in this article.
@thesilverbrick Did I? I won't miss them as I don't really care from watching their videos. And neither do many others judging by this comment section. Peace!
@SLIGEACH_EIRE So it really is just about the thrill of complaining, then, isn't it?
The twin stick shooter looks cool, and the Forma.8 news makes me happy I skipped out on the Wii U version.
@thesilverbrick So we should sit here in silence and be grateful for games already on Wii U, mickey mouse indie and mobile games? Where's all the big announcements from 3rd party developers?
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I think the idea is that people should probably read/watch everything before complaining about something that was actually addressed in the article.
Sitting in silence is better than coming here everytime an indie announces his plans.
You want the big announcements from third parties. Then go and ask them, mail them, phone them, twitter them, visit them, work for them, be part of their team, and try to bring the game you want to the system you want!
Ranting here almost all the time is lazy and gets you nowhere. And it's disrespectful for the community, for the comment section, and for the indie devs that are covered.
Go to EAs Ubisofts, Activisions, and the rest of your most wanted 3rd parties message boards and try your luck there. It'll do better than coming here vomiting everytime a 2D game is released.
Anyway, FORMA.8 is a good Metroidvania-like action-adventure, but with flying instead of platforming. It was challenging fun and had some great boss fights and set-pieces. However, searching the whole world for 100% got a bit tedious, as you have a rather big world to explore with some sections being huge in an empty-feeling but artsy way. And it seemed to me that you have to grind at every wall to see if there is actually a hidden room or passageway. Finally there are teleports in the game, but I got confused by them as there's some kind of weird teleport hub. I don't think the game explains anything, so you have to find out everything for yourself. Yeah, the game has some little irks, but physics-based puzzles and action were so different that it's still a good, intriguing game in my book. The art style is also good, but like I mentioned before, there's something in the level design that puts me off. It's where you think "There must be something here, this looks fantastic, I'm up to some secret now" and then there's just a wall, and at other times you just find things by pure luck (nothing indicated that there was a secret or a wall you could fly through). It also had a number of little bugs on Wii U, but it's good to see FORMA.8 getting a second chance. I hope MixedBag put a bit of extra work into it to bring Switch players the definitive edition.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I certainly would enjoy some AAA third-party titles, but that's entirely unrelated to a smaller studio re-releasing one of their Wii U titles alongside two new ones. Smaller studios trying to recuperate losses from the dismal failure that was the Wii U by re-releasing some of their titles on the Switch to hopefully appeal to a much larger audience isn't a problem. In fact, these releases have zero bearing and zero effect on other third-party support from larger studios. These ports only serve to quickly flesh out the library and make the Switch initially more appealing to people who didn't own a Wii U, and I don't know if you noticed, but very, very few people purchased the Wii U. I think someone else put it best when they said a good game is a good game, regardless of whether it has been released before. I'm all for more games for the Switch, especially good ones. It doesn't matter to me if they've already been released before somewhere else. And sure, I may have already played some of these titles before, in which case I don't have to buy them again. But I may actually buy some of them again to have the option of playing them on the go, something I could not do with the Wii U. There is inherent value in Switch ports in that they are now portable games, as well.
@SKTTR I really liked your post. You're exactly right. Complaining about indies re-releasing titles on Switch doesn't even begin to address the problem of large studios not releasing AAA games on the Switch. They are two entirely unrelated things.
