Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 11th)

Illusion

Going to finish up trying every event in Go Vacation. Maybe play some Paladins. Also thinking about dropping money on Metal Slug 4, Death Road to Canada, and Sleep Tight. The Valkyria Chronicles 4 demo was surprisingly fun, not sure if I want to preorder it or wait a year for a price drop...
Also, tried the DBFZ demo last night. Took 20 mins to get into a match, lost a round, started to win the 2nd, then the guy I was playing quit the fight. No real impression of it, just not sure its worth the time and effort of waiting around for another fight.

Re: New Smash Bros. Ultimate Assist Trophies Include Shovel Knight And Monster Hunter's Rathalos

@EightBitMan if someone gave you a cart of gold, you'd complain it was heavy. I'd rather be happy with what we do get aka the widest gathering of 1st and 3rd party game characters, stages, and music in a videogame ever than cry about what we've "missed out on because Nintendo hates its fans". I heavily doubt you're one of them and if you are, who hurt you and why can't every portable offering on the Switch help?

Re: Feature: What Does Nintendo's Shutdown Of ROM-Sharing Sites Mean For Video Game Preservation?

Illusion

I'm fine with roms on the net for download as long as the site isn't profitting from it. I think most game companies are too.
I have an xbox and a laptop with many NES, SNES, and Genesis roms on them. I used to own all the classic systems, but when they stopped working on my modern tv, I sold them for needed cash early in my marriage.
I hacked both my NES and SNES classic to include my favorite games.
On my WiiU and 3DS, I've paid for every NES, SNES, and Gameboy game I wanted to get my hands on because I love owning legal copies of these, supporting game companies, and playing a high quality version of the product.
On many systems, I've bought classic collections and classic games. On the Switch I look forward to being able to play most of my game collection in one place and I'll buy them outright or pay the monthly fee for access to classic games.

Re: Wall Street Analyst Warns Of Slowing Nintendo Switch Sales

Illusion

To the people calling Nintendo lazy: I'm sure every Nintendo gaming team is hard at work developing what they hope will be some of the most fun and profitable games to come out during their release years.
They're spending every day trying to tap into multiple markets and genres with one question to answer: will people find it fun?
If yes, they'll slap a 50-80 dollar tag on it and dispatch it to stores after they've polished 99.9% of the bugs out of it.
I hold no ire towards a company that spends every waking moment how to deliver fun to me for what's in my wallet. Fair trade and knowing Nintendo is already hard at work on the next 3D Mario and Zelda, you know it'll be worth the wait.

Re: Nintendo's Bill Trinen Discusses The Possibility Of Smash Bros. Ultimate Demo And DLC

Illusion

@jockmahon I think demos in general are a good thing. I canceled my preorder for Arms after the first global testpunch, but on the other hand, I bought Vostok Inc and Pixeljunk Monsters 2 because I found myself playing their demos repeatedly.
I think demos make more sales than they lose.
I also bought Kirby after playing the demo, but I always knew I was going to get it because easy is what I want from my Kirby games. I avoid the more puzzly ones.

Re: Enter The Gungeon's Free Expansion Is Now Live With Bucket Loads Of New Content

Illusion

@Coxula I've had over 200 attempts at the Gungeon.
There are 5 floors filled with monsters (don't worry about the secret ones)
I make it to floor 2 almost every time.
I make it to floor 3 most of the time, but it took a dozen or so attempts to git gud.
I make it to floor 4 about 1 in 3 runs nowadays.
I've made it to floor 5 probably a dozen or so times.
I beat the floor 5 boss 3 times.
I beat the a secret boss after gathering all the secret components in multiple runs once for the marine character.
Despite this steep difficulty and low chance of survival, I still say for me this is one of the most fun games of all time. If you like Roguelikes or appreciate very punny humor, this game could be for you.

Re: Crash Bandicoot Holds Off Octopath Traveler And Captain Toad To Keep UK Number One Spot

Illusion

Shouldn't Crash be called a REENTRY also? It was released on PS4 a year ago.
Not that I own or want to own Crash or Captain Toad (just bad with puzzle games and Crash never clicked with me on PSone), just seems weird to label one as such, but not another port.
edit also, when will everyone in the UK own a copy of Crash? 3 straight weeks is impressive for sales, but the market needs to be saturated eventually. Right?
Now I'm just envisioning the character from Conspiracy having to buy a copy of Crash whenever he sees one. 😋

Re: Nintendo Of America's Doug Bowser Says Switch Has "Broad Appeal" And A Diverse Library Of Games

Illusion

The Switch has a huge library of games. Many are pure shovelware, but what console isn't loaded with that?
I myself have 40 playable games on my Switch. I feel regret for about 4 of those purchases, but its not because they're bad games, its because they didn't click with me.
I don't do sports, puzzles, jrpgs, tactical rpgs or metroidvanias, but those are personal tastes and there's more than enough games for me on Switch. Eagerly awaiting many more in the future.
