" ...the judges were fairly onboard with the concept. The duo received scores of fives and sixes out of ten" Like how your teacher tells you they found your essay intriguing and that it raised interesting points, but then they fail you based on it anyway? Unless a 50% score means something better in Britain...
Was kinda interested until the end when it was revealed the game is unfunny and non-interesting. I figured a direct inspiration with modern flair would have tons more jokes and a little plot like Enter the Gungeon. Have Smash TV already on Midway Arcade Treasures for Xbox and on my MAME arcade. Maybe I'll grab this on sale to have portable Smash TV-like one day?
Likely play Luigi's Mansion co-op with a friend who's getting the game. Looking forward to Pokemon Shield. Otherwise not a whole lot that interests me. Glad I have literally hundreds of games on my Switch to tide me over to 2020.
Got my SNES Online controller in the mail last night and tested on a bunch of games. Works great with Contra, Castlevania, Megaman, Streetfighter, NES, and SNES online. Played through over half of Super Mario World and got through all of Star Road and Special. Going to be enjoying some great retro gaming with this. Probably also play some Fallout New Vegas on Xbox One for the umpteenth time as well as walking the local park to catch the newest gen in Pokemon Go with the wife. We'll also watch some scary movies. Fall has put me in a mood for horror and candy. Might make it out to the theater for Downton Abbey the movie.
For my solo build I put all points evenly into strength and defense. I ranked my speed up to tier 1 just to give my arrows a little bit of damage. Didn't put a single point into magic. Use your shield constantly in battle with a good stock of potions and sandwiches and this game is soloable. Best with friends though.
Playing through Genesis Collection on Switch and going to stop into my Contra and Castlevania collections on Switch to play their Genesis titles. Trying to not run to the store to get the Genesis mini because I already have basically all the Sega games I'd wish to play on Switch. Though an M2 Super Hangon would be a day 1 buy from me. Other than that, going to revisit some Daemon X Machina missions and blow some more stuff up while skipping dialogue.
@jobvd do we need to specify if we're remaking black and white Psycho or the colorized Psycho with one bonus scene put back in? Pretty sure people can just say its a remake of the original source material and still be correct.
I really enjoyed Daemon x Machina. My only complaint is I want more now that I've beaten the game and with the way its selling, I doubt there'll be story DLC or a sequel. Oh well, can always replay it and skip the dialogue for even faster mecha action!
@Moroboshi876 Castlevania and Balloon Fight are not a different enough experience to me to warrant getting the arcade versions when I already have perfectly playable NES versions of them on NES app and Castlevania Collection. I also think anyone who wants to collect SNK arcade games should do themselves a favor and get SNK 40th Anniversary for Switch instead of purchasing them one by one. The other arcade games I have no problem with. (Also, if these releases were the only way to play Balloon Fight and Castlevania, I would throw down the money for them, but they're not)
If/when Nintendo takes down the NES and SNES app I'll be bummed but I've got a modded NES mini, SNES mini, Xbox, and a MAME computer with all those games too. I just like paying money to own things portably because my job and family normally prevent me from enjoying those consoles in my mancave. 😅
@Ichiyama I actually saw T2 (On VHS when I was 4 in 1991) years before Terminator (at a relative's house in 1995) I love them both, but T2 is just a hair better. Nowadays when I sit down to watch them, I don't watch one without the other. My dad didn't believe in censorship so by the time I was 4 my favorite movies consisted of T2, Robocop, Police Academy, and Aliens. NA cover is the best.
Sounds like a waste for a subscriber to Switch/NES Online app, as well as owning SNK 40th Anniversary which has TNKIII, and the Castlevania collection. Guess these will sell for completionists and people that skipped those collections. (and of course the games that aren't included in any collection thus far)
They were priced out, loss led, and outconvenienced to death by the internet and megastores. Not sure there was anything they could've done. Perhaps closed hundreds of locations years ago and offered better deals than the megastores? Diversified into more than just geek and sundry merch? I'll be surprised if they manage to limp along to the launch of the PS5 and Xbox.
Beat Link to the Past, Super Mario World, all tracks of F-Zero on beginner, unlocked special cup on Mario Kart, beat Star Fox on easy got crushed on other paths, got to hang gliding on Pilotwings, and got to level 3 on EDF. Gave the rest about 5-20 mins each, just didn't hook me.
Daemon ex Machina, Luigi's Mansion 3, Pokemon, Banjo in Smash, Animal Crossing, and the Super Nintendo app for me. Other than even more SNES games I'm set.
For me: Legend of Zelda Link to the Past, Super Mario World, F-Zero, Super Mario Kart, Pilotwings, and EDF are the best games on here. The rest just don't click with me(puzzlers, metroidvanias, sports, and Turn based RPGs)/I didn't grow up with them. Excellent compliment to the Contra, Castlevania, Megaman X, Capcom Beatemupbundle, Ultra Street Fighter II and Secret of Mana Collections. Hoping within a year to have most of my other faves on this app: Donkey Kong Country trilogy, Super Punchout, Kirby Superstar, Illusion of Gaia, EVO Search for Eden, Star Fox 2, Strike Gunner STG, Gradius III, Sim City, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and Turtles in Time(unlikely).
@Old_Man_Nintendo they released the DKC trilogy on WiiU, 3DS, and the first one on the SNES mini. I'm sure with Banjo Kazooie in Smash Bros their relationship is getting better with Microsoft, not worse.
Switch is where my gaming lives now. I have an Xbox One, but only a handful of games. Dragon Age, Halo 5, and Fallout games are the only reason I purchased the Xbox One, but EA, 343, Bungie, Microsoft, and Bethesda all majorly let me down. (Did not like Halo 5, Gears 4, Anthem, Destiny, Battlefront II, and Fallout 76 have all been of questionable quality. The trailer for Halo Infinite looks nice, but I worry for the future of AAA that I enjoy. (Never had a Playstation, their exclusives have never interested me) Looking forward to Castle Crashers, SNES, Luigi's Mansion, Pokemon Shield, Animal Crossing, FNAF, AVGN, 198X, King of Cards, Shovel Knight Dig, and Breath of the Wild 2 on Switch. +Having almost every game I love portable is the ultimate victor. No fighting for the TV and I can take it to work.
Star Wars Rogue Squadron II, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3, and Mario Party 6 were my most played games. Super Smash Bros Melee was also great for its time, but unnecessary with Ultimate nowadays.
From what I've seen the game looks thoroughly okay. The plot doesn't draw me in and the "investigation" parts really turned me off during E3. I'll just wait for Bayonetta 3 for my action game in the wrapper I enjoy.
Vice: Spy Hunter+Ninja Gaiden=good game. Kung Fu Heroes: garbage. Gradius SP2: I find Gradius too hard. Glad they added a free pass to an extra hard mode. :/
Played Streets of Rage on our Genesis Model 3 in the mid 90s on the 6-pak cartidge that came with it. Loved the music and gameplay. Caused me to purchase genesis collections to have the trilogy on Xbox 360 and Switch. Played Final Fight years later and it felt like a clunky Streets of Rage prototype in comparison.
NES stopped turning on in 2000.
N64 Video out broke in 2011. (Luckily my bro had bought a spare when the gamecube came out)
3 N64 controllers joysticks broke.
2 left joycon joysticks broke 13 months after getting launchday system. (were both repaired for free last week)
Non-Nintendo bonus:
Xbox controller joysticks broke.
Xbox 360 red ring of death.
I think my Xbox One is dying now....just trying to make me buy an Xbox One X.
Super bonus: 5 VCRs, 5 DVD players, and 4 bluray players. Can't tell if my family watches too much or if these just have a high rate of failure.
I assume before this random copyright flagging, Nintendo was earning 100% of their ad revenue for these vids? Wonder why they wanted to change that arrangement....
Never owned a DS. From this list I've learned that you should buy anything Pokemon, Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright, Castlevania, or Dragon Quest related. Also Super Nintendo and 64 ports. Seemed like a good little system.
Doom is still ultra fun, especially now that it's on the go. Beat the game on easiest mode and now I'm replaying on medium. Doom II I'm currently stuck on lvl 14 and will have to watch someone on youtube play it to find the next key. Pretty puzzly. Glad I could play any of the 20 extra levels right away. Beat roughly half of those. Blazing Chrome is awesome. All Contra fans need that game. (I can only beat it on the easiest difficulty though, pretty brutal game.)
Bought Doom and Doom II when they dropped. Threw an email address at Doom and its been hours of fun since. Played the SNES version as a kid, needless to say, this is a huge improvement. Highly recommend.
Spent last night playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance with a friend last night. (I'm a big X-Men and Spiderman fan, he's mostly into Avengers and the expanded universe). Great game so far! Also going to get back to Dragon Age Origins on the Xbox One. Love me some Dragon Age.
I no longer use 2 of my left joycons due to this issue. One takes 1-2 secs to register movements while the other goes all the way left every 30 secs or so. On joycon pair 3 now.
One of the reasons I'm building my Switch game collection. If the next Nintendo console is a streaming device I'll still have my Switch with nearly every game I want to play. (As well as a collection of other classic and mini consoles)

Went with NA, but all 3 are pretty bad for such a great game.

The demo is okay. Like 5.9 out of 10. Not worth purchasing the full game, but worth a playthrough to go: oh, this is why Contra shouldn't be in 3D.
