Re: Guide: Every Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controller Available Right Now

Illusion

On my 3rd set of joycons now. My day 1 spare set grey left joycon's joystick takes a second or two to fully register movement. My day 1 console set left neon blue joycon's joystick jumps to the right every few seconds. Both of them started acting up after a year of play. Got a new neon red blue set now. Hope I don't kill these too.

Re: Feature: How One Nintendo Christmas Shaped The Rest Of My Life

Illusion

Weirdly in early childhood we got games year round (whenever my dad saw NES ot SNES games at the pawnshop) but especially on birthdays. As a kid I wanted toys more than videogames, but in my teen years I remember a christmas where my brother and I got a slew of gamecube games: Resident Evil remake, Legends of Wrestling II, 18 Wheeler, and SSX Tricky. The first two were for me and the latter for my older brother who is scared of horror and likes snowboarding. Good times. Past couple years I've gotten Atari Flashbacks and Nintendo money so my 30s are a bit different.

Re: Feature: Digital vs Physical - What Is Your Preference for Nintendo Switch?

Illusion

Always physical if it's about the same price or cheaper than digital because I like saving money and memory space. I have a 128gb card but I've got less than half that space available after several big digital only games and digital deluxe of starlink because at the time $80 for nearly everything was a better deal than $75 physical with less than a quarter of the unlockable content. Physical is nice to lend out to friends or resell games if they don't fit my lifestyle, like when I decided I never wanted to play Splatoon 2, 1, 2 Switch, or DKC TF again and was able to sell them to Gamestop for about 50% their value.

Re: Guide: Every Nintendo Console Ranked From Worst To Best

Illusion

The opinion of a 31 year old American: I disagree. Here's my list:
1. Switch-bought day one, goes everywhere with me.
2. NES-grew up with this and the two dozen games my father bought from pawnshops over the years in the early 90s.
3. SNES-got a couple years after launch.
4. N64-got a year after launch.
5. Gamecube-launchday, yay Rogue Squadron II
6. Wii-got several years after launch.
7. Wii U-got a couple years after launch
8. 3DS-got a couple years after launch
9. Gameboy-got with the Super gameboy several years after launch.
The others are never owned and refuse to rank. I also own every classic game compilation for Switch so far and despite some games coming out before I was born, have an interest in old Atari and Arcade games. My family has always been behind the curve on consoles. The only systems we bought on launch day were the Dreamcast, Gamecube, and now Switch for me on my own. (I also picked up the NES and SNES classic as well as the Atari Flashback 8 Gold HD day one, but they weren't hundreds of dollars either) a friend hacked my Xbox in the early 2000s with all the NES, SNES, and Genesis games and I was able to experience all the games my parents were unable to afford in the early 90s. I bought several on 3DS virtual console because I love having them on the go and support Nintendo whenever I can or as I call them: the number 1 purveyors of fun in this current depressing world we live in.

Re: Review: Atari Flashback Classics - This Dusty Collection Sadly Opts For Quantity Over Quality

Illusion

Look past the bloated collection Atari jammed in here and you'll find there are real gems.
Most of the arcade games are great. Avoid just about all the sports games.
Do play Aquaventure, Air Raiders, Asteroids, Breakout, Centipede, Super Breakout, Millipede, Missile Command, Tempest, Warlords, Fatal Run, Red Baron, Yar's Revenge, and a few more gems here and there.
The Swordquest (manuals aka comic books) are also fun reads.
Worth 40 bucks.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 8th)

Illusion

@JoeDiddley for that SNES feel you can play Ultra Street Fighter II in classic mode or Megaman X-X3 on the Megaman X Legacy Collection. The Capcom Beatemups Bundle also includes several arcade games that ran nearly identical on SNES hardware.
Hopefully Nintendo gets us some Super Nintendo goodness through the online service for 2019, but it remains to be seen.

Playing Smash with my roommate who has obsessively played every main console Smash with me for days worth of hours each. Right thumb hurts from 7 hours straight fighting yesterday so I'll have to try and rest it for more Smash tonight....may load up Genesis classics though, been looking forward to that so much. Also got the Katamari Damacy demo to mess with and Risk (much easier set up than a IRL Risk board) on the Switch has been great fun, so maybe some of that as well.

Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For December And January

Illusion

@JaxonH Is Atari Flashback actually coming dec 7 or is that a placeholder date?
Walmart claimed they'd have it in october so preordered it from them. They took their money from my credit card, gave me a shpping arrival date, then the day afterward claimed it'd been delayed until 31 december. I demanded a refund and got it within a few days.
Since then I'm leery about whether or not anyone has a real date for the atari collection.

Currently playing Fallout 76 on Xbox One.
Pokemon Blue on 3DS while hanging out with my wife playing Pokemon Lets Go Eevee.
Picked up Risk and Bethesda pinball tables on Switch for Black Friday, so I'll find some time to enjoy them on Switch.
Also finally caved and got Namco's Arcade Pac for $25 from Target. Coming in mail next week.
