Enter the Gungeon’s "massive" free expansion 'Advanced Gungeons & Draguns' is now available to download on Nintendo Switch.
Enter the Gungeon: Advanced Gungeons & Draguns is a huge new chunk of content that aims to extend and refine the original game with new features and more variety. Master Gungeoneers will face new challenges with hundreds of new rooms, new enemies, new bosses, and a reflex-testing Turbo Mode.

I’ll bite on the base game I guess.
@justin233 Excellent game and even better multiplayer.
@justin233 You'll bite on all the dlc too that's ever been released since it's all free and included lol.
@Joker13z Well yeah, that’s what I meant. I was just saying I’ll pay the $7.50 for it.
Highly recommend this game, even more at half off. The Switch is the perfect platform for a game like this.
@justin233 Haha just checking. Wanted to make sure you knew nothing was paid dlc.
When you guys say it's available now do you mean in the UK? Cause it isn't showing up yet for me in the US.
Right on but I need to really get out of this funk and play games. Starting with Octo...then I will jump back in.
Yeah this is the best roguelite game on the switch! Better than Isaac, 20xx, steredenn, robot named fight, wizard of legend, eternal redneck, that flying game I forgot the name of, that rhythm one, and I probably forgot some others!
@jobvd
This is a rogue liKe not a rogue liTe.
When you die, you start from scratch without any permanent upgrade.
I'm pretty good at shmups so I have no clue why I suck at this game, but it's kind of a bummer only seeing like 1/3 of the enemy types and bosses. I guess now there's even more content that I can't see, yay.
Well it looks like nows the time to purchase this.....like I need another game but I can't pass up a deal like this.
@Rhaoulos You unlock tons of permanent stuff though? I thought true Rogue games had no unlocks period.
@N8tiveT3ch I'm exactly one step ahead of you since I just finished the Octo Expansion yesterday, which is why I'll be picking this one up once the sale goes live.
In regards to the Octo Expansion, my only advice to you is not to let pride get in the way, and skip the stages that you're stuck on. You can always go back to them later.
Not available in Europe (Sweden) yet though..
@Rhaoulos I don't really care for either name. I'm pretty sure a real roguelike has tile based movement etc.
This type of game is in between a mobile and console game. That's why it suits the Switch so well... a device in between a mobile and console.
@Joker13z Hmm, we were just told "available now" which would suggest all regions. It's definitely launching today, though, so keep checking back!
@Desrever Yeah I'm still early into game and found 4 characters. I haven't die yet and everything seems to be easy. I tend to grind a lot though.
@ryancraddock Thanks for the reply! I'm guessing it'll probably roll out when the eshop updates in about 30 minutes for us here in the US.
Assuming there's still no difficulty setting in the game I'm out. I'd love to love this game but from all what I read it's too hard for me.
No problem - I can live with that. And it's a lot of fun for many - so...
I've heard great things about this game, and for 50% off I might just bite.
@Coxula I've had over 200 attempts at the Gungeon.
There are 5 floors filled with monsters (don't worry about the secret ones)
I make it to floor 2 almost every time.
I make it to floor 3 most of the time, but it took a dozen or so attempts to git gud.
I make it to floor 4 about 1 in 3 runs nowadays.
I've made it to floor 5 probably a dozen or so times.
I beat the floor 5 boss 3 times.
I beat the a secret boss after gathering all the secret components in multiple runs once for the marine character.
Despite this steep difficulty and low chance of survival, I still say for me this is one of the most fun games of all time. If you like Roguelikes or appreciate very punny humor, this game could be for you.
Learn to dodgeroll and never stop moving.
What version is the game supposed to be at now. And do I have to actually download the expansion as a separate thing as the article seems to be saying when it says "go grab the expansion" or no. I own the game but I don't see any indication that an expansion was downloaded anywhere.
@TeeJay mine is 1.1.5p1 and that means it hasn't updated yet. Not available yet.
@jobvd I see. It'll probably go live later today then. Thanks.
best eShop game!
the most played after Xenoblade 2 (100 hrs)
@TeeJay ok so for me the update went live like a minute ago!
There looks to be a bug. When coming to the first boss, the boss doesn't load. He just sits in his chair, and I cannot do anything, not even leave the room. Anyone else experienced this yet?
@jobvd Oh thanks for letting me know! It's downloading now. Thanks again
wow so happy about this news! never expected an expansion for this amazing game!
Guys I've been reading your comments, please know that at 7.50$ THIS IS A STEAL. Easily worth the full price. Day 1 purchase for me and I still play it a lot. It's hard but you get better at the game.
Done. Thanks for the heads up Ryan and to all for the comments.
Never been a fan of twin stick shooters but I'll grab if only to support developers who make free DLC. Never know, might end up with a Piczle Lines situation where it ends up my most played (by some margin) Switch game.
This is one of my favorite games on the Switch. I continue to come back to this game moreso than anything else on my system. I'm not great at it, but a run here and there — now and then, is simply wonderful.
I remapped the buttons.
Dag-gummit I just bought the game at full price last weekend!
It was a toss-up between this, Hollow Knight, and Celeste, but thought I'd wait on the latter two bc I prefer physical.
No regrets though - it's a fun game, and addictive even though I tend to croak right away.
@NewAdvent would never guess you like it
Very cool. I'll be honest, I stopped playing because I suck so much. However, I'll have to check this out.
@mister_magnus amen to everything you said
It's almost a ritual for me to play a couple Gungeon runs before long sessions of Zelda or, recently, Hollow Knight. It's just as satisfying as it's hard and hilarious.
btw I also remapped the shoulder buttons
Love this game. For those saying it's too hard, keep at it! I was terrible my first 10 runs or so. The items/weapons that are first unlocked really suck. As some others said, remapping the shoulder buttons helps, but I also suggest turning the "aim assist" setting all the way up. Also, I believe this update is supposed to ease the difficulty a bit.
I've tried to like this game I have but I just don't, I really don't think its at all that fun but this is good news for those who do like it.
I’ve just given it another shot and there does seem to be loads of new content and more generous items.
I even finally unlocked the shop.
Not sure I’ll ever beat the first boss though. I wish there was a difficulty setting.
Looks like I need to finally get this one.
Just curious if you manage to make it through all 5 floors and the final boss about how long does a run take? I ended up picking it up today at lunch, and beat the little tutorial area to get a feel for the game.
kinda sad at how few boss's and gungeoneers there are.
Yasssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
All aboard the train fellas.
Love love love this game. A great reason to dive back in!
I have clocked over 100hrs on this, on 300+ runs. At first it seems impossible, but you slowly learn patterns, items, maps, bosses... The more you play the better you get.
I have got to the true ending on 3 characters, and beaten the easy final boss (Hunter). The pilot final boss seems way to hard, doubt I'll ever beat it.
Unlocked almost everything, including the secret floors.
My main criticisms are the game has too much, and is too random as a result. You can have easy runs or impossible runs, and it's nothing to do with skill. Some items can kill your game, depending on your setup.
It's also a little too mean, and eventually there is nothing to do with currency - I wish you could buy a gun or upgrade before a run with it.
Not sure how I feel about a massive extra content pack - there is too much stuff as it stands.
@dougphisig depends on the items, but i would say 1-2hrs.
@Cathousemaster Thanks was just curious.
I just went ahead and bought it. 50% off on a Switch game is too good to pass up.
50% off...free content...I don't care for roguelikes much except for Nuclear Throne but I won't lie, i'm tempted.
@Rhaoulos Thanks for clarifying that. I have heard both terms and never understood the difference. Was never sure if I was saying the right thing! Now I know...
@IronMan30 It's so good. You won't regret it. Definitely worth $7.50.
I'm a sucker I guess, went with it. Hope it can grab me like Nuclear Throne did.
@Brumblescope
You're not the only one don't worry.
Even the guys at NL get it wrong every single time and don't even acknoledge the existence of the rogue lite genre, so it doesn't help understand.
This game is worth 4-5 times it's full price.
Don't even think, just press the effin' BUY button and never look back.
I can get to the second floor now on a regular basis but haven't lasted long after the first boss. I love games that keep unlocking features as you play. The shops cool and gives you the motivation to keep earning the currency they use. I wonder what the other doors do.
This game is unforgiving, and ridiculously hard, especially for an old chap like myself. Tried to like but couldn't.
Imo games like this suffer tremendously if yo uh have none to play with. This should have came with online multiplayer because let's face it not everyone friends has a switch so online multiplayer solves that for people who font want to play alone. Come on indie developers make online multiplayer a standard.
