Re: Monster Hunter: World Confirmed for Rival Platforms, is Skipping Nintendo Switch

Iggy-Koopa

A few points:

1) It would seem that MH:W has been in development for some time, predating the finalisation of Nintendo's hardware and probably scrubbing any chance of a release on Switch off the whiteboard.
2) MHXX is likely Capcom's way of keeping Nintendo sweet until a fully-fledged Switch game can be released.
3) In regards to that Switch title, it's likely to be closer in mechanics to MH:W as the hardware still lends itself to huge open worlds (see Zelda). Just not as graphically intensive.

So at the end of the day, there is no need to worry. Nintendo have been working very closely with Capcom, but you can't expect them to shoehorn a title in if it just doesn't fit. Switch will still be the go-to place for MH portable, which is where the heart of it's popularity lies in the East. Nothing like playing with colleagues on lunch then plugging in when you get home.

@Sammus2 It's Monster Hunter: World, ergo it is not MH5. If anything, it's a soft reboot with the hope that it will become more popular in the West.

Re: Austrian Retail Listing Builds Hopes For WWE 2K18 On Switch

Iggy-Koopa

Ehh, I bought 2K17 on the cheap as I love the create mode. I was horrified when I saw Create-a-Finisher had been removed, that crap was half the fun right there - 1080 top rope piledrivers for the win. I doubt much has changed for this version, but the fans should lap it up.

Fire Pro World is what I really want.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of the Pokémon Direct and Its Big Reveals?

Iggy-Koopa

Disappointing, but people only have themselves (and Eurogamer, Laura Kate Dale etc) to blame. Stars may or may not be a thing, but in the case of the former then it's clearly a thing that is nowhere near ready to be shown. In the case of the latter, hopefully people will learn not to give so much credence to some chick who got lucky once or twice, nor the 'sources' feeding her crap.

Re: Get Ready for a Pokémon Direct on 6th June

Iggy-Koopa

@HannesDroid Yikes..... Pokemon VC...... That's something I hadn't considered.

'Here's all of our old Pokemon games, at £10 each with nothing in the way of new features'!

Christ, I hope that's not true, but it seems in-line.

Re: Get Ready for a Pokémon Direct on 6th June

Iggy-Koopa

It will be either:

A Direct to talk about the upcoming Pokemon mobile title, and advise you that a Pokemon game is coming to Switch but don't expect it at E3.

Or:

A Direct discussing a new 3DS title as well as the upcoming mobile title, but don't expect to see it that at E3 either.

Either way, tears will flow.

Re: Square Enix Silent On Switch Dragon Quest XI Due To "Adult Circumstances"

Iggy-Koopa

@Octane Beside the fact that Bayo 2 was never going to get made until Nintendo stepped in, the reaction to that was little besides the gaming community being 'forced' to buy/play on Nintendo hardware. I remember that calamity well.

I think what J is trying to say is that this kind of underhanded practice should really be a thing of the past by now. Sure, we probably have Nintendo to blame for a lot of it, but the way this is being handled is pretty poor - the message needs to be clear, otherwise it's always best to keep your damn mouth shut in the first place.

Besides, anyone expecting the PS4 version to outsell the 3DS version (in Japan at least) is beyond deluded. If Sony were THAT bothered, they could have killed any chance of it being a multi-platform release before the 3DS version was even a consideration.

Money talks.

Re: Review: Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers (Switch)

Iggy-Koopa

@tanookisuit Yeah, no. It's well overpriced and savvy gamers have every right to be pissed off. I've been a fan of Street Fighter and Capcom in general for 30 years, and I'm simply not tolerating a stripped-back version (regardless of the crappy Hado mode) of what is arguably the best ever fighting game, especially when it could have been so much better.

I'll get it when it's under £20, and if that makes me a 'baby' in some (deluded) people's minds, then to hell with them.

Re: Review: Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers (Switch)

Iggy-Koopa

@YANDMAN Hey, I love Street Fighter 2, have done since I was a kid. I've owned countless versions over time spanning from the SNES to PS to Wii, but I'm sure as hell not buying into what should have been the definitive version yet is somehow gimped even whrn compared to SSF2HD. No bonus rounds? No speed settings? Janky, tacked-on FPS mode? I mean, it's not tecnically full price but still, no thanks. Perhaps I might consider it, but not until it hits a decent price point.

It's Capcom's fault.

Re: Capcom Unleashes Debut Trailer and Details on Monster Hunter XX for Nintendo Switch

Iggy-Koopa

This is exactly as expected (uprezzed 3DS etc), and whike it may not be ideal for some, MHXX sales weren't exactly stellar according to Capcom so it was clearly a no-brainer for them. Not to mention that the cross-play will go a long way towards convincing 3DS owners to invest in Switch.

The only thing that concerns me is that this may be a bit jarring after Zelda, not bothered about where MH5 ends up because it's bound to end up on Switch too.

Localisation please!

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About Nintendo's E3 2017 Plans?

Iggy-Koopa

I find the notion that - with a focus on 2017 titles - Nintendo will not have anything 'new' to show at E3 quite laughable. A focus on upcoming titles is expected, after all they are known for keeping their eggs firmly in the incubators until hatching point. That said, focusing on 2017 does not exclude announcements outside of this.

As ever, approach with cautious optimism. After all, I keenly recall the events of 2016, and how everyone was baying for blood over 'just Zelda'.

We all know how that turned out.

Re: Stardock CEO Says Nintendo Switch Doesn't Need Third Party Support To Succeed

Iggy-Koopa

Urgh, this again.

Far be it from me to beat my own drum, but when it comes down to Nintendo platforms it seems that first/second party, collaborations with third parties and indies will be the way forward.

Would I play Call of Duty on Switch? No, it's not my bag at all, but that's besides the point; if Switch continues its trend of selling like dem hot cakes, it would be well within Activision's interests to partner with them for a bespoke version that appeals to that crowd. Same could be said for Madden, FIFA, and various other multi-player focused games.

Nintendo knows what it's doing, and third parties aren't stupid; you may not see every title on the platform, but you can bet your bottom dollar that they (third parties) will be there if the success continues.

Personally, I'm far more concerned about what Japanese publishers/studios will bring to the table. If the current contributions are any indication, then the future in this area is bright.
