PlatinumGames has been a long-time supporter of Nintendo and its consoles, and the company was confirmed as a Switch developer back when the console was first announced.
We've not yet heard what the studio is producing for Switch but head producer Atsushi Inaba has mentioned to Japanese magazine Famitsu that it will be "interesting":
How’s the compatibility with Platinum Games?
I think it’s good. We’ve also already declared we’re going to participate. During the announcement event of Nintendo Switch, there’s the Platinum Games logo showing up secretly.
Is something happening?
We’re creating it, you know. I think it’s going to be interesting.
It's not much to go on, but it should be enough to have fans dreaming. Will Platinum create a new IP for the Switch, or could Bayonetta 3 actually be a thing? Maybe it has been commissioned by Nintendo to work on one of its existing series, like it did with Star Fox Zero? We're sure you've got plenty of ideas, so let loose in the comments section below.

I'm getting my hopes way up and no one can stop me.
I would prefer wonderful 102 to Bayonetta 3
Wonderful 102?
I really liked metal gear revengeance. A new IP, or a metroid game, with that style of gameplay would be great. Will never happen though.
Wonderful 101 sequel or Bayo 3, but Vanquish 2 would be nice.
Edit:
I only bought this for my Wii U this week!
Oh, and Darksiders Warmastered Edition.
Looks like my new younger model will have to take a backseat to the older more experienced less refined model.
Oh yeah, my Switch got ditched, or should that be switched.
Its definitely not Bayonetta 3. That's in the "we're talking about it" stage. I imagine its something entirely new, knowing Platinum Games. And they did say something about wanting to pursue their own IP - maybe their next venture towards this will be on Switch.
How about a real Zelda game, like that one time they made Okami and it was perfect?
Metroid!!!
Worms!!!
I have the feeling it's just going to be a port of StarFox Zero.
Probably a new IP. I'm hyped!
A Platinum Games game? Excuse while I write PLATNIUM GAMES in my list of games to Day One buy. Wonderful 101, Star Fox, Bayonetta. Don't care what I will buy. They have shown themselves to be great developers. That I will support
Too bad Wonderful 101 was a financial flop. I would've loved to see a sequel...
Is Okami a possibility?
@Darkhound1999 Nope, that IP is still with Capcom (as demonstrated by Okamiden, back in the day). A shame, as I'd love to see the actual studio return to it.
Still my favourite game to this day (along with Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door).
A more combat focused Metroid title from them would justify a purchase of a Switch for me.
An F-Zero-themed brawler entitled 'Falcon PUNCH!' where you jump from ship-to-ship fighting enemies like the crazy background stuff from Bayonetta.
Platinum Chess Simulator! A real life computer simulatuon of what playing chess is like
Hyped! Something interesting doesn't really sound like Bayonetta though. Oh well can't wait to hear more anyway.
A Metroid would be welcome, yet I don't think this is the game they are referring to.
I'm still under the impression that Nintendo have first refusal on an exclusive Bayonetta 3.
With so much effort put on her in Smash and the 2 amiibo, I can't see why they wouldn't want that.
Anyone saying W102 needs to adjust their expectations. W101 sold awfully and there is no possibility of Nintendo or Platinum ever taking that risk. If Nintendo is paying for a new exclusive I'd say it's either Bayonetta 3, or another sequel in a similar vein e.g. Vanquish 2.
Although I wouldn't be surprised if it's a multiplat based on an IP similar to what they did with Transformers.
If it's Bayonetta 3 I hope they port 1 & 2 to switch too. That would be an incredible box set to buy.
I love Platinum Games. Whatever it is, consider it day one.
It's years away so don't expect anything at E3.
They did just release a PC port of Vanquish...
Bayonetta 3 or A Wonderful 101 sequel
@Niinbendo Or Korra ^^
Gosh dang people. You don't want any old developer making a Metroid. P* games is super talented but that's not the kind of games they're good at.
And I promise you 1,000x over that's not what it is.
Games are starting to roll in, and I like that. Keep em comin
Whatever it is, I trust them.
I'd love to see the internet meltdown as the result of Nintendo saving Scalebound (as unlikely as that is).
That's good to know. Though I hope it's better than Star Fox Zero. That was Nintendo's fault.
@Haru17 Okamiden 2
Like Retro I'm just glad they're making something. Hopefully it'll be awesome
Bayonetta 3!
@Iggy-Koopa I believe I saw that Microsoft still owns the TM for that game, so they may still do something with it or hold it just so no one else can use that name unfortunately.
I must admit I'm not one of those Platinum superfans. I did like Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2, but they didn't really blow me away, probably because I'm more of an exploration kind of guy than combo-action one. I kept thinking how cool it would be to explore that Wonderful 101 world without the hindrance of the ever-present invisible walls.
Be that as it may, they're undoubtedly quality products, and I'm curious to see what the company is working on.
Judging by their most recent comments I don't think it's Bayonetta 3 or a Nintendo IP, something new perhaps?
Or maybe it's something based off Scalebound, but not using the name, they must have put a lot of development time into it after all.
@Iggy-Koopa MS owns the Scalebound IP, but no reason the same game they rejected can't get a shiny new name OTOH from what we saw last E3 who would want that game? Killing it was a rare stroke of brilliance from MS.
@Haru17 Well, Clover isn't exactly Platinum in the same way Monolith isn't exactly Squaresoft.... Though I'd love to see it.
@ricklongo W101 aside, which was just delightfully weird, Platinum makes arcade games in the purest sense of the word arcade, plain and simple. Though like Haru pointed out, with the talent on board from Clover that created Okami that's kind of surprising.
@dougphisig They do, ergo I don't see it happening.
By gawd though, I'd lol.
@NEStalgia True. It looked a hot mess compared to the original vision.
Bayonetta 3!
Maybe it's a spiritual successor to Viewtiful Joe or Okami?
So... Can we get a Madworld 2 already?
I hope it is a new IP. Nintendo has to figure out first what do they want to do with Metroid's story and a potential future before adding a new game, or else the fanbase will explode. Again
A new Platinum IP is a Day one for me!
@NoxAeturnus ? come on ....
@Randomname19 I hope so!!!
MadWorld 2 . . . okay, no chance. I'd love to see a new IP from them, Platinum is a terrific developer.
I'm hoping for Transformers Devastation 2.
I just want a Metroid from Retro. Anything from PlatinumGames would be an added bonus🙂
Really hoping it's not a sequel to Star Fox Zero. Unless Nintendo makes a proper Star Fox 64 sequel with traditional controls, then I'm not interested, LOL. But I'd love to see a Bayonetta 3 or sequel to Wonderful 101. Or an all-new IP that's a Nintendo exclusive!!!!
I just came to this thread to like any comment wanting to have Wonderful 101 sequel.
Seriously that game needs a sequel.
Although others mentioned here like new Okami or completely new IP or working for some forlorn Nintendo IP would be good too.
Platinum is win-win situation whatever they do.
Only thing it needs to be is EXCLUSIVE
As much as I love Bayonetta, if I had to have a begging list I would want W102 above anything else.
Wouldn't turn down Bayo 3 though...
Bring Bayo 3, Wonderful 102 and Scalebound. Plus something new!!!
Why are people here bringing up Okami? That's a Capcom property. Capcom would have to approach them.
A PlatinumGames game you can take on the go.
Heck yeah
Bayonetta 3, Madworld 2 or Wonderful 102 would be great.
@retro_player_22
I'd love a sequel to MadWorld. One of the underrated Wii games.
More P* is always welcome.
W101 deserves another chance. All Kamiya made games have received a sequel (if we count Okamiden) except that one.
Would love to see another Madworld, Metroid Prime has to be made by Retro not Platinum
@Akropolon Really reaching here, but maybe they can convince Capcom that they can put the license to good use and make a really good game with it? I think I remember seeing Kamiya say something to that effect a while back.
Please don't crush my dreams...T_T
@NEStalgia I mean the current Zelda team didn't make Twilight Princess and The Wind Waker by that same measure, but it doesn't make me stop wanting that.
Could it be the Star Fox Zero port we've all been wanting??
@Haru17 Something tells me Capcom will hold onto that IP and give it the same love as Mega Man.
Please, Capcom give us Hyper Okami: Super Ultra Remix Unloaded Masters Edition II! Charge us $90!
@NEStalgia Dude if they made an Okami version with an extra level and weapon / brush stroke or something I would pay $90.
@Haru17 LOL, wouldn't we all?
Heck, just give us "Enraged Ami" and a palette shift and I'm in at $120.
@Wouwter yeah this game is going to be pretty sweet in 18 to 24 months
Doesn't Anarchy Reigns technically serve as Madworld 2?
Im guna go with brand new IP on this one. But if we have to give our pie in the sky answer I think a Madworld 2 would be insanely good.
@Ryu_Niiyama Nah. Anarchy reigns was more of a new ip with the madworld protagonist as a guest star. It was a totally different game.
bayonetta 3 all the way.
@Haru17 I like this comment for it's content that I agree with, but also because it seems a little salty about Breath of the Wild
Bayonetta 2 port.
@Donutsavant Accurate.
I'm guessing a Bayonetta 2 port, but I want WONDERFUL 102
MS & Platinum going to bring Scale Bound to the Switch instead.
@Haru17 it feels like we are in a secret society of BOTW Truthers.
Lol
@NEStalgia Well, to be honest: they axed it after having ruined the original game, which looked and sounded far more brilliant than that mismatch of cobbled together pieces that Microsoft wanted to make of it by forcing all kinds of competitive online components into it.
So it was only brilliant if you look at it as them admitting their own mistake for tampering with it, but knowing Microsoft, they'll probably never own up to that...
I'm game if it's a new Viewtiful Joe.
@ThanosReXXX Microsoft doesn't make mistakes. Windows ME was perfect, and 8.1 was a rounding error.
But yeah, at least they recognized it was broken, even if it was their own fault....unusual for them.
@NEStalgia True, but recognizing is still a far cry from admitting the truth about them truly being a big factor in this game changing so much from the original concept, and in my opinion into something that it was never supposed to be, and I'm pretty sure that the brains behind the original concept will agree with me.
Therefore it would be great if Microsoft let go of this franchise. They will either make something of it that it was never supposed to be, much like they did with the decidedly un-Banjo-Kazooie-like game that was Nuts & Bolts, or just hold on to the rights and do nothing with it at all, which would be even more annoying, so if you don't like the original concept, just give it back to the actual creators already.
A man can hope...
@ThanosReXXX Oh geeze, Nuts & Bolts.....shiver
BTW I tagged you in the newest ACA Neo Geo release thread yesterday, but missed an X, so you never got the notification....it was about how I'm absolutely definitely NOT going to be buying that one....
@NEStalgia Funny you should mention that. I had a rather full week, so I was a bit behind on the articles, but when I saw the next Neo Geo game being mentioned in one of them, I definitely had to restrain myself from posting a comment directed at you.
If I had, it would have been something like:
Hey, @NEStalgia, have you seen this new release? It's definitely something for y... Aarghh!! Need... to... stop... doing... that...
Unfortunately, I just can't help myself...
@ThanosReXXX LOL, yeah...that one caught my eye, and is honestly that's the first of the ACA releases that my first reaction when seeing the trailer was "I NEED this." It's like R-Type but better, and not quite as bullet-heck as Blazing Star (which is so broken it shouldn't be fun but somehow is.)
@NEStalgia All joking aside, it truly IS a good game, and I've had quite a bit of fun with it. Later on it gets more difficult, though, so don't let any trailer or earlier level playthrough fool you into thinking that this game is a cake walk.
