Re: Rumour: Nintendo To Reveal New Switch Model With Samsung OLED Display And 4K Support

Iggy-Koopa

@ComradeThom I think a lot of it is driven by this being Switch Pro Article#563, but yeah, the attitudes are laughable. There's a lot of users that hang here now just to post lame troll attempts, so I usually just slap an ignore on them.

This is coming, too much smoke now and if Bloomberg are hearing about this next progression in production then its pretty set. Yeah, they misfired on a revision when it was just redbox coming, but they nailed Switch Lite and there's just too much chatter about this for it not to be true.

People will still be disappointed, but there you go.

Re: Nintendo Direct To Air Tomorrow, Wednesday 17th February

Iggy-Koopa

I love how whenever a Direct gets announced, the lofty expectations follow soon after. I've played this game long enough to know better, lol.

No BotW 2, no Metroid Prime 4, no Bayonetta 3, no 'Switch Pro'.... That's my initial prediction right there, but I'm sure that there may be a slew of things that draw my interest.

It's been a long wait.

Re: Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Leaked Online A Week Before Launch

Iggy-Koopa

@PBandSmelly The same people are playing pirated copies of games, then claiming that they had them on order anyway so it's okay. Or they never had them on order, and it's still okay because Nintendo/Sony/MS et al are biiiiig, baaaaad companies who forcibly take your hard earned cash for full-price retail games that they would rather steal.

Scrubs.

Re: Talking Point: So, What Are The Chances We'll See A 'New' Nintendo Switch In 2021?

Iggy-Koopa

I'd be happy with a new model even if it was an incremental upgrade, my Switch isn't anywhere near its last legs but I sure do love me a shiny new toy.

Is is happening? Well, like I said elsewhere, that depends on a number of factors, but the current level of vanilla Switch sales says no (like the chances of Mario Kart 9 any time soon given current sales.of 8 DX).

Will Nintendo do it anyway? Ehh, who knows?

Re: Nintendo Won't Be Announcing A New Switch Model "Any Time Soon"

Iggy-Koopa

Do we need a Switch Pro? Yes and no. No, we don't necessarily need one, but yes, a few gains in performance and features would be a nice thing to have.

Does it make good business sense? Depends. It's not going to poke those 70 million Switch users in the eye, rather it will give some of them (myself included) a valid reason to upgrade sooner or later. New consumers then have a tier of models to choose from depending on budget, and all games will be scaled depending on which model you use (any other suggestions such as exclusives are ludicrous). Win-win.

Now..... Will it actually happen? Again, that really depends. If I was old school Nintendo, I'd be sat back rubbing my belly at all that dough I'm raking in while doing objectively very little. Then again, if I was one of the young bucks that are currently leading the charge (hopefully with my finger firmly on my pulse and nowhere near my arse), I'd be thinking in terms of keeping that momentum going in ways that don't rely purely on software (always a bit of a gamble in the current climate). A shiny new Switch that is capable of upscaling to 4K, has improved Joy-Cons, a display capable of doing VR justice etc..... That would be too much for a lot of people to resist.

Then again, Animal Crossing has proven that you don't need 4K and a buttload of games to conquer the world and is destined to be the next Skynet, so what the hell do I know

Re: Mario Kart Tour's Cat Tour Goes Live Today, Teases "Purrticularly Cute" New Character

Iggy-Koopa

I don't see why people have such a stick up their butt about people having a stick up their butt regarding MK8 DX content. The VAST majority of people who own that game didn't own it on Wii U, so those of us that still play it AS WELL AS the people that are relatively new to it would eat up some new tracks/karts/racers, no doubt about that. The people that take issue with that desire are hypocrites at best.

In addition, Switch is unlikely to see a new entry any time soon given how well 8DX is selling.

Re: Nintendo To Face Another Class Action Lawsuit For Switch "Joy-Con Drift"

Iggy-Koopa

I recognise that this is an issue, and I hope that everyone gets the compensation owed to them in the end.

However..... I do feel the need to agree with others who have had a Switch since day one, and have experienced little to no issues. I've had third party controllers develop drift before there's been so much as a twitch from either joycon, but I do tend to take very good care of my system (cleaning etc), so.....

Nintendo should offer to repair all affected controllers for free, or at least replace them if in warranty. I do hope that a more robust design or tweak is presented with any potential revisions this year, but until then there's as many YouTube videos showing how to clean and care for your controllers as there are ones complaining about drift.

It's an issue, but there are fixes.

Re: Another Person Got In Trouble For Breaking Lockdown Restrictions To Play Pokémon GO

Iggy-Koopa

@SeantheDon29 Oh, believe me (and you can, as I work in a setting that completely validates my opinions on the subject), you absolutely should be afraid of Covid. Put aside your personal safety for a second, and consider the wider impact on society as a whole. I know that may be hard for you, but give it a fair go for me. The virus is moving SO QUICKLY, that's it's thwarting almost every effort we make to get in front of it. It's mutations are now so rapid that younger generations are being struck down harder than before, 1500 people died in the UK alone yesterday, bringing the real world figure over 100,000 dead. This IS NOT the flu, it's much nastier and people are nowhere near protected enough at present for my colleagues to cope in their respective care settings. People are being asked to stay home for a reason, and while it is mostly the fault of the government for moving at a snails pace to tackle it head-on, it's equally the dingbats that decry such measures and refuse to comply with efforts such as social distancing and masking. PEOPLE'S ATTITUDES are equally to blame here, and tougher measures to ensure compliance are LONG OVERDUE. Call that what you will, but don't be surprised if, in turn, people lump you in with the absolute morons that you see on YouTube or whatever every single day. Let's all keep the world moving, and sacrifice just a bit more of our personal lives and freedom to ensure a rapid recovery from all of this nonsense. If we don't, you can 100% guarantee that this will go on for months, if not years, longer than anyone wants or anticipated.

Re: UK Police Force Takes Issue With Pokémon GO Players Allegedly Breaking Lockdown Restrictions

Iggy-Koopa

@Fandabidozi Depends on the context really. I've known people to walk mile after mile for Pokémon Go, and that's hardly considered essential when you are supposed to keep very local to home when you are only supposed to be exercising. Given that people are prone to gathering in certain locations while playing too, and I can quite understand why someone would land in hot water for leaving their house in pursuit of Pokémon lol.

FWIW, if you are popping out for a Starbucks then that's hardly considered essential either! Get some bloody instant from your local shop and make do, yer hipsters.

I can't believe that people are still finding ways to interpret the rules to further their own ends at this stage, it's beyond ridiculous.
