Re: Metroid Dread Producer Hopes Fans Look Forward To "Future Episodes" Once The Current Story Arc Concludes

Iggy-Koopa

@MajorTom Because the whole model is designed to wring more cash out of you, especially when there is day-1 DLC with story arcs, season passes for online or 'exclusive content' etc. The Amiibo have tiny functionality and are basically for collectors, there's nothing in the way of meaningful content in there. I'm just saying that value is subjective, and it's become and industry standard to cut out content and drip-feed it to you in the form of an extra payment. Dread is between £40 and £50 in the UK, and what?

Re: Metroid Dread Producer Hopes Fans Look Forward To "Future Episodes" Once The Current Story Arc Concludes

Iggy-Koopa

@BloodNinja Point being that £60 is rarely £60 any more, it's actually £69.99 in most cases for next gen and that doesn't factor in DLC. People defended Returnal to the grave, a roguelike in pretty skin, but if they found value at £69.99 then more power to them. Value is subjective, but people sure do like to be hypocritical when it comes to the price if their games.

Is Metroid Dread worth £40-50? That remains to be seen, but as of now I have the special edition and Amiibo ordered as it's a ****ing event. Metroid Dread, who'd have thought it.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting A Switch OLED Or Valve Steam Deck?

Iggy-Koopa

Neither, and I don't use Steam.

My launch day Switch is still going strong, and I have a Series S with Game Pass locked in. I'm sure the Deck will find it's audience and it's a capable machine, but it's not for me.

I may get an OLED if they do a BotW2 special edition, that may be too much to resist.

Lol at the fanboying and bashing going on though....... Some of y'all are pretty insecure and immature.

Re: Talking Point: Why Metroid Dread Will Be Worth $60

Iggy-Koopa

Whether something is 'worth it' or not is entirely subjective, but games are expensive to develop and this is no exception.

I'm through arguing if this will be 'worth it', I'll simply state that I'm very happy to lay down the bones for it and the Amiibo as it's Metroid Freaking Dread and the kids simply can't grasp what that means for fans.

You go over there, I'll be over here enjoying Metroid.

Re: The E3 2021 Awards Winners Are In, But Nintendo Lost Out

Iggy-Koopa

@kpenders Why shouldn't Dread be $60? Surely, at this point anyway, that's quite a subjective way to think about it? It's only just been revealed, literally fresh 'out of the box', and that was an earlier build of the game. You can't say it's not worth the money just as much as I can't say it is, but Metroid fans are excited. I'm excited. If we're willing to pay $60/£50 for a game we want, then leave us be.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Delivered An Excellent E3 Direct For Fans Old And New

Iggy-Koopa

Horses for courses, innit. Some people will claim it was utter toss, others will praise them for saving E3 from the dull 2022-fest that it arguably was.

I went in with a very low bar, and I came away pleasantly surprised. I'll be spending more money on Switch this year than I was initially planning (Switch Pro 2022 y'all), with at least 3 of those titles on lock as well as the Hyrule Warriors DLC.

Re: The E3 2021 Awards Winners Are In, But Nintendo Lost Out

Iggy-Koopa

Metroid 5 and Breath of the Wild 2 say otherwise.

Call me a fanboy all you like, but this E3 was abysmal to day the least and Nintendo came in with the goods.

All those Game Pass goodies were great, but the (what seems like) annual installment of Forza Horizon, a Halo game that's bee through dev hell and Psychonauts 2 (as much as I am looking forward to it) weren't enough. 2022, 2022, 2022, DLC, shooter, blah blu blah..... And that was from all companies, not just MS. I like Xbox, and my Series S will be well serviced, but.....

E3 was pants. Nintendo's presentation gave me what I wanted at least - games I'm not waiting years for.

Re: Metroid Prime 4 Was First Announced Four Years Ago Today

Iggy-Koopa

@MarioBrickLayer I think it's more likely that we get Zelda until next E3, then MAYBE we see a hint of MP4.

Retro could've been guns blazing until this point, and it still wouldn't be ready for a full reveal.

Maybe we get lucky, and the rumours about a new 2D entry are true. Perhaps it will be some kind of precursor to MP4, set the story up or something.

More likely a port of Samus Returns though.

Re: Random: What If Nintendo Just Released A Basic Switch XL?

Iggy-Koopa

I've said before that a Switch XL is more likely than a Super/Pro Switch, and I'd be tickled if that was the case.

Mainly due to the meltdowns that would happen across the internet, but also because I wouldn't have to spend £400 on a new 4K Switch for at least a couple of years.

Re: Dev Explains Why Nintendo Made Mario's Anniversary Games Limited-Time

Iggy-Koopa

I love how the internet has turned this into a meme, there are some proper raging kevs out there.

My opinion about this has always been simple: if you want it buy it, if you don't.... Well, don't.

These games aren't dead, they wont be deleted, and the code is more than secure.

Nintendo exist to make money from you, so of course they will leverage their IP over and over. The day that they see more value in doing a service like Gamepass and decide it is viable then they will do so, but let's not be under any illusion that MS are doing what they are doing to be your friend..... At some point, inevitability even, the costs of that service will rise significantly.
