NIS America has revealed that Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle is coming to the Nintendo Switch later this year.
A spin-off of the popular Touhou Project series, Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle is described as a 3D shooter with fighting elements, which tasks you with taking down opponents using projectile and melee attacks.
Fancy some official PR? Of course you do:
Touhou Kobuto V: Burst Battle is a bullet-hell battle game that takes place in the Touhou universe. Take control of one of nine Touhou characters and eliminate your opponent using bullet-hell patterns, melee attacks, or spell cards! Featuring ear-tingling beats for each character, you might just find yourself dancing while you play!
Uncover the truth behind the strange incidents in Scenario Mode. Each character has her own unique story! Lose yourself in the many background music remixes and enjoy the latest tale taking place in Gensokyo!
The game also supports a local split-screen two-player versus mode! And of course, that's in addition to a fully featured online battle mode!
The game launches in North America on September 5th and in Europe on September 8th. It's also coming to the PS4 and PS Vita.

Virtual-on but with Touhou. I would want.
Is this the first time a Touhou game released on a Nintendo system?
If the trailer is anything to go by then this game will definitely be on my to buy list
@Captain_Toad
"Virtual-on but with Touhou."
That is the very first thing that came to my head. I miss Virtual On so much that I'll be keeping my eye on this.
Good news, Touhou is huge! Kinda wish they released the main game, rather than a spin-off. Would be fantastic to play some classic Touhou on the go, hopefully in the future!
Wow, you guys weren't kidding when you said it looked like Virtual On. The aesthetic of these games always put me off, but this would be hard to pass up if the gameplay is decent.
The Touhou Girls also appeared in the MaiMai SEGA as art of MaiMai songs, even there are Touhou Eurobeat songs.
Despite of that, I still don't get it , why so many Japanese artist overexploiting Girls too much ? From Moe looking until Sensual looking. I'm kinda tired and have no interest at all with those stereotype. Why do always Girls exploited ? I know the market mainly for Male gamers but I don't like it at all. Too Stereotype. Why don't just put Hunky Sporty looking Boys instead ? Big Body, Six pack, Handsome looking, Good attitudes, etc. Like I did on my gallery website.
But I put Tons of Chibi boys to make it looks cute and adorable. :3
@Anti-Matter Two words: Blame Japan.
This looks good!... and now we play the waiting game
Looks cool.
looks a bit bland to me
@Anti-Matter Aren't you just asking them to swap one stereotype for another?
Maid Troopers: Touhou-On
@Anti-Matter I'm actually pleasantly surprised that all of the female characters' breasts and buttocks are fully covered!
Looks a little slow for my taste. Kinda like Vroom in the Night Sky to be honest. I'll wait for some reviews.
This is going to look good on my New 3DS...wait your telling me this is on the Switch?...I'll wait for reviews...maybe.
@Indielink
Well...
Actually I knew there was an Anime Free Iwatobi that emphasised on Muscular male body swimmers. I was surprised and it looked great. But unfortunatelly, not many Anime or video games exploit Hunky muscular guys Only so much. Usually their existence almost always for a Gags purpose or minor roles, not a Major roles.
So at this point, I wanna see Boys exploited too as equal as Girls. I had so milion times saw Girls, Girls, Girls Nendoroids on sale but Almost Never saw at least One Muscular Boys with Sporty outfits like Boxer or Karate in Chibi form.
@jwfurness
I know that.
But still... why do always Girls Girls Girls too much ?
Where is the boys ?
Or.... maybe something like Cho Aniki... (blushed)
@Anti-Matter For most of the target demographic, sex sells. I hate it too.
This looks like a terrible game...
@burninmylight yea, Virtual-On meets Evil Zone is what I gathered
It's like they took the two-player first-person combat of ARMS, and then asked themselves: how can we cheapen the experience?
I can't help but be enticed.
@jwfurness
I was on a VGChartz forum earlier with people showing that they already found some risque art of one of the fighters showed off in the ARMS ND yesterday, within a couple of hours of the direct... Yeah, even Nintendo now realizes that you have to throw in at least one Ms. Fanservice to get "that" crowd moving.
Not interested in playing as a bunch of anime schoolgirls.
I've been wanting to get into Touhou, so I'll probably pick this up when it comes out.
It looks like a DS title.
Needs Bikini and Senran Kagura Mode.
Played this before. The single-player mode was insanely boring. I have a feeling the core gameplay wouldn't even make two-player very enticing either. Of all the Touhou games to put onto a Nintendo console, it had to be this one?
Nice! I have a friend who's really into Touhou. I'm not as into the series as he is, but I'll definitely check this out. The Switch's easy multi-player makes it appealing too.
@burninmylight
But there's a new Virtual On coming next year too.
@Captain_Toad I really enjoyed "Overdrive" on WiiWare, which was also said to be inspired by "Virtual On." Throw in a bunch of cute animé girls, and this is definitely one for me to keep an eye on.
I hope this is a physical release, the huge onslought of digital games is lame.
Yay, finally Touhou on Nintendo!
sees title
Dammit, of all the fangames...
@OdnetninAges
Finally got around to looking this up, but I just knew when I read your post that it would be PS4 (and probably Japan) exclusive:
https://www.polygon.com/2017/3/13/14911440/virtual-on-ps4-playstation-vita-certain-magical-index-sega-dengeki-bunko
Not exactly what I had in mind for a new VO game, but hey, it's a start. And it's exactly one more game that I ever thought would be released in a long time, after the abomination that was Marz.
@burninmylight
I'm just hoping it'll get localized. Sega has been pretty cool with localizations recently (who saw 7th Dragon III and Puyo Puyo Tetris coming?), so I feel there's at least a chance for this one.
A Switch version would be nice too, but that's probably stretching it.
Its Arms with Cool Anime Characters! But the graphics dont look so good. Definately looks like it plays like Virtual On as well.
