Re: Video: Nintendo Comes Out Swinging With New ARMS Footage

They had me sold at Mario Kart team - those guys know how to put together a really fun title with excellent mechanics. This, Mario Kart 8 DX and Splatoon 2 will provide multiplayer goodness all the way to Xmas.

I was sceptical of this title at first, but then I recalled feeling the same way about the original Splatoon. Needless to say, it's on preorder.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE You know absolutely nothing, and are simply blowing hot air.

Anyway, even if this is remotely true, we still know very little about the inner workings of this console. But from what I'm hearing, it's a bloody miracle that they got to that £280 price point in the first place. That's good enough for me, and to be honest I don't want another PS4 in my life - I want a Nintendo device that innovates.

Re: Nintendo's Dev Teams Rival Western Counterparts In Terms Of Skill, Claims Miyamoto

I'm just happy that they are embracing things like UE4, Unity, Vulkan etc. It will make the Switch a developer's dream, and as long as they can realise their vision to a satisfactory level, there will be a wealth of games that will make it over.

I don't think this is bias in the slightest, more Miyamoto pushing the thinking that talk of Japanese developers 'falling behind' is utter bunk.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Countdown - Considering the Joy-Con

What the Joy-Con represent - for me at least - is a veritable toybox for developers to easily implement the features into their game. The tools developed by Nvidia seem to be the most dev-friendly of almost any Nintendo console, and combined with the compatible engines, I'm giddy to see what they come up with.

I disagree with the notion that VR isn't coming in some form, but I think it's still a couple of years off. Just imagine though.... Truly portable VR combined with the might of the Joy-Con.

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Talks About a Potential 3DS Successor

Iggy-Koopa

I think that the comments from the late and great Iwata need to be remembered here; he explicitly stated that all devices would become 'like brothers', and that translates (to me at least) as a shared architecture. It's therefore very likely that dual screen gaming may have had its day once this is - if at all - unveiled in the future.

Then again, perhaps they will make a device that's compatible in power to Wii U, but retains its functions as a 3DS. Either way, I don't see backwards compatibility being a priority at that point, and it will likely share a few titles with Switch (but not all).

I'm siding on the thought that this will be an entirely new entity, and it will be interesting to see if any of the patents - some of which were heavily rumored to be for Switch - make it into its final form.

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Responds to Criticism Over the Switch Launch Line-Up

I love this 'wait and see" approach coming from gamers. Not that I want to sound facetious, but it always tickles me to see the rage in people as they hold off then struggle to get a preorder. In this instance, I believe it will be Mario Oddesey that forces that situation (with a smattering of Black Friday madness). Of course, this will be Nintendo's fault.

Anyway, I'm happy with the launch line-up, there's a lot there to keep me feeling happy - a full-on Zelda title, a new IP, a sequnel to oneed of their best performing titles in Splatoon 2, Xenoblade 2, multiple Dragon Quest titles, stuff to be announced at E3, a definitive Mario Kart, Super Bomberman R, indies galore - so much goodness.

I get that some people aren't enamoured with the line-up, but that doesn't mean that everyone should and will feel the same. Nor should they be lambasted for supporting it.
