Re: Mario & Luigi Paper Jam Brings More RPG Action To 3DS Next Year

HandheldGuru97

This looks so weird and bizarre, I just have to get it because of that! I think we can now state that the NX will be a 3DS successor, there are a lot of games hitting the 3DS here in the next year and I don't think we've seen the last of the Wii U, Nintendo needed to show the 3DS out and now we've gotta a final batch of 3DS games!!!!! My poor, unemployed wallet I need more money and a job for all these great 3DS games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Weirdness: Bethesda’s Fallout 4 Features Mini-Games Inspired By Classics Such As Donkey Kong & Missile Command

HandheldGuru97

I am so hyped for Fallout 4 its not even funny!!!!!!! Still barely getting over the fact that the game will (hopefully...delays have happened...) launch this year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm quite excited for this new pip-boy...sure they sorta dished on the Wii U (and then proceeded to unveil a 2nd screen experience), but man if all these in game features make it to the real-life Pip-Boy app.....
(BTW totally getting that limited edition.....)

Re: Video: This LEGO Jurassic World Trailer Made Our Glass of Water Move

HandheldGuru97

I've actually been looking into 3DS version. Its been years since I bought a Lego game, but this and Dimensions have me changing my tune as of late...I hope we'll see a 3DS review soon....(and a Wii U review too XD) I mean sure it'll be the weakest of all the games, but a quick jaunt trough Isla Sorna and Isla Nublar...it'll be a blast. The original JP and The Lost World were huge parts of my childhood (never bothered with JP3) and JW looks promising, but like I said I'll wait until we see reviews for the 3DS version.

Re: Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice Is Dashing To The Nintendo 3DS This Winter

HandheldGuru97

I only played the demo for Shattered Crystals (the last 3DS Boom game). While I won't jump right on the "Sonic Boom Suxz" bandwagon I wasn't a huge fan. The levels seemed too long and confusing, the Lost World on the other hand, it was...differnt, but enjoyable (which reminds me I need to pick that one up....price is finally plummeting to a decent enough price). I'll keep an eye on this maybe wait until mid or late 2016 to pick it up...and of course keep an eye on the reviews.

Re: Video: Extended Trailer For Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon is Released

HandheldGuru97

Hype level intensifies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While it seems the quiz is back I hope that it will let you pick, just incase you don't get the Pokemon you want. But that "Select a Pokemon" circle could well be the partner select screen....But other than that this game looks like it is shaping up quite nicely. All 720 Pokes and a pretty beefy world map by the looks of that brief glance. Also love the look of the New Town. Really excited for this game, can't wait until the later this year.

Re: Capcom Reveals E3 Plans and Mega Man Legacy Collection for 3DS

HandheldGuru97

Well, its a start!!!!!!!!! Thanks Capcom...now even though the 3DS version is coming late, you better not quietly cancel it if the Summer release on PC and home consoles goes awry (which if Capcom can even screw up a remaster of some the best NES games...then we're all screwed) Either way, I'll keep my eye on this!

Re: Humble Nindie Bundle Adds Three New Games

HandheldGuru97

Alrighty!!!!!!! Glad to see Bit Trip (I've been meaning to get it forever...) and now that we're although all the games, here are my final thoughts. In terms of 3DS games...wee bit disappointing, but hey you know what??? They're all great games and sure I had almost all but two (OilOil and Moon) I've got plenty of 3DS games to play so I'll be set for a long while. (And I am the HandheldGuru...after all so I guess that is understandable) Now the Wii U, I sadly seldom play it, but after this bundle I'll be in 7th Wii U heaven for a long time to come. Some really great games, that I can't wait to play. Thank god summer starts tomorrow!!!

Re: Video: First Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon Footage Revealed

HandheldGuru97

@Bolt_Strike I can see where you are coming from, but since most starters are some of the most recognizable Pokémon out there, it is fully understand on GF and Nintendo's part. With Six generations of starters, thats 18 Pokemon (and you can't just say, "well scrap the 2nd, 4th and 5th generations, because they're weakest generation(s)" or whatever other excuse you have. You run the risk of alienating fans if you went that route (like me, Totodile represent!) Now looking here at Bulbapedia (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Player_character) the largest roster for a PMD games is 19 (Sky) and not including all 3 variations of PDM on WiiWare as one game which would thus creating a massive roster (and the largest by and far). The problem that we get when hitting nearly 20+ Pokemon is simply the fact that there are too many, its overwhelming. Now I know its 20 out of 720(!!!!), but with all Pokes included you are going to be able to find all of these common and slightly lesser (but equally loved) Pokemon pretty early in the game (I'd assume). Pikachu gets an automatic in for being the franchise mascot, Riolu is the baby Poke of one of the more popular Gen. IV Pokes (who also happens to be in Smash...) Lucario. That puts us at 20 Starters. 20 Thats quite a bit so if GF doesn't want to add anymore...yes its lazy and yes its kinda understandable too. In my opinion I'm just glad Totodile is back, sure Skitty, Mewoth or maybe even Eevee would've been great all along with some of those other 2nd tier Pokemon, but GF will get pass from me...for now. (Now if was only 5 Pokes like GtI...we'd have a problem....)
(Damn...that was a long essay on the Theory of Starter Picking )

Re: Video: First Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon Footage Revealed

HandheldGuru97

Yes! I know I'm in the minority, but man I love the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series. Gates to Infinity wasn't terrible (wasn't as good as PMD Time, but that game was incredible) this looks like a much welcome return to form from PMD Gates. All 721 Pokemon and the full starter roster!?!??!?! Sold! I'll be getting this when it hits the States this fall/winter!

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Dropped the Ball, Not the Mic, With Its Nintendo World Championships 2015 Qualifiers

HandheldGuru97

@BLPs
Nailed it, but allow me to stick my two cents on before I go. I live in Utah (COMBO BREAKER!) and I think last year we had like maybe one Best Buy do the Smash Event. So in all honesty while I was hyped, I kinda expect disappointment as video game fan in SLC, its not a huge city by any stretch of the imagination, but we could get the bone thrown our way occasionally!!! So yes, while a little disappointing, I will live. And who knows??? Maybe if this one is a huge success in those 8 areas, maybe we'll see a much larger one next year. Seriously people, we need a little less doom and gloom around here!

Re: Nintendo's E3 Focus to Reportedly be on Wii U and 3DS, not Smart Devices or NX

HandheldGuru97

Just like they said they would! As much as the Wii U need some more stuff to fluff up the end of the year now that Zelda is (likely) a Spring 2016 game, but the 3DS needs a push into early next year. As much as many people would like to think (and hope) that the NX will be a Wii U successor I have feeling the NX is a handheld and that the next console will be announced shortly after the NX is relived to be a handheld (probably late 2016, maybe early 2017). The 3DS has reached saturation, and with some more Pokemon, a 3D Land sequel, maybe a...Metroid or F-Zero to spur necessary hyper-hype-mode and perhaps another surprise or two, the 3DS can make to 2017. The Wii U...even though it isn't selling great and is really, really in trouble when it comes to games it could (only if Nintendo keeps pushing through) make it to 2018. But we shall see....we shall see what happens, because in all honesty, I haven't a clue what comes next.

Re: Ninterview: Jeremy Parish On Cataloguing The History Of The Game Boy, One Game At A Time

HandheldGuru97

I've been following Gameboy World since last summer and it is easily one of my favorite video game sites out there (sorry Nintendo Life!) As a handheld gamer, huge fan of the Gameboy and a historian his work has been simply incredible to find and read. Mr Parish is easily one of the best video journalists. There just isn't much love for that diminutive Gray Brick (although it is much easier to play all the games on a Light or Color, no motion blur and much more portable!) so I'm glad to see this project exist and actually have a huge passion behind it. I'll be picking up his book here soon and a classic Nintendo Gameboy Players Guide, for some good old Gameboy literature!

Re: Hardware Classics: Sega Dreamcast

HandheldGuru97

I may be a 'HandheldGuru" but once upon a time (a year and a half ago) I said to myself, "The Dreamcast is always highly praised, but is it really that good or just super over rated???" Well I bought a Dreamcast for $30 with Sonic Adventure and Virtua Tennis and now 10 games later, yes ladies and gentlemen, the Dreamcast is easily the greatest console ever. What a fantastic unit, the games are some of the zaniest, craziest and greatest games ever to come out of the late 90's early 00's. The hardware, while showing its age now, still holds up to this day! What an excellent kit and excellent article. Folks, get yourself a Dreamcast, like the article says they're dirt cheap now...but I highly doubt they'll stay that way for much longer.

Re: Review: Kuru Kuru Kururin (Wii U eShop / Game Boy Advance)

HandheldGuru97

Just found this little gem at a local gamestore here in the states! What a great little GBA gem, simply charming, quirky and a blast to play. I hope NOA will give this little one a chance on the Wii U VC (doubt it, but I can dream right??? ) I can (sadly) understand why NOA passed on it back in the day. Little odd...but man guys...we really missed out!!!!!!!

Re: Lego Dimensions Will Feature Lord Of The Rings, Batman, Back To The Future And Much More Besides

HandheldGuru97

LEGO BTTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahem....big (like really big) BTTF fan here and while it isn't a full 'Lego Back to the Future' game...that Level Pack alone has me super hyped and super interested in this game!

Re: Review: Story of Seasons (3DS)

HandheldGuru97

@diastelo
Well, your not the only one with the shriveled up back! Mine doesn't (at least to the best of my smelling ability), smell like that so that is a little weird....huh. It is really annoying, just curious but did you order it from Amazon??? Mine came through Amazon so I wonder if it was a problem on their end...

Re: Review: Story of Seasons (3DS)

HandheldGuru97

Just got my my copy, Spring Break is going to be fantastic! The plushie is super cute too. Little smaller than I thought it'd be, but hey I can't complain. Xseed, did a great job with RF4, so I have high expectations for SoS

Re: Poll: Vote For Your Ten Must-Play Games On Nintendo 3DS

HandheldGuru97

Alrighty the Guru is back and here is my Top 10 3DS as of March 27, 2015
(Note this is not in any particular order...picking the position for these games...shudders...that would take moons)

Animal Crossing New Leaf: My most played 3DS clocking in at well over 230 hours, a beautiful game, sooooooooooooo much replay value and excellent online features I'd safely say it is my favorite 3DS of all time if it weren't for...
Rune Factory 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!: The fact alone that this game is missing is an insulting!!!!! (JK @ThomasBW84, I think this download online in Europe)
So the graphics aren't great, but the art style is cute and charming the farming mechanics are simply divine, the little voice clips are so cute, did I mention the art style?!?!?!? Man I love this game...heck the ending even made me tear up a little, count this as a vote for (what I'd say) is the best 3DS game.
Ahem...moving forward;
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between World's: was it a little easier thanks to the rental system? Yup, but man oh malley what a game, great characters, soundtrack and the art style is charming. The best Zelda of the 3 on the 3DS.
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon (2): One of my personal favorites, Luigi is a charming counter balance to Mario and frankly LMDM has some of the best 3D effects in any 3DS game, a must buy
Mario Golf: World Tour: Winning today's award for most under appreciated 3DS ever, Mario Gold WT, flew right under everybody's radar (likely due to the disappointment of Mario Tennis: Open), this one is a perfect golf game
Pokémon Alpha Sapphire: One of my favorite Pokémon games remade in glorious 3D (kinda ), while I haven't played it nearly as much as I thought I would, Hoenn is remade beautifully and the Delta Episode is one of the most intriguing twists to the Poké-Lore in years.
Super Mario 3D Land: I honestly don't care how much hate I'll get for saying this but...this the best portable Mario game, ever. The graphics, the 3D effect, its easy, yes, but so well crafted and oozing in charm left and right another must buy!
Damnit!!!!!!!! How'd I already get to seven???? I have like five more games that I could fit into my top 10!!!!!
Fantasy Life: I've been waiting for this game for 5 years! And it was sure worth the wait, covered in that Level 5 charm I've comes to expect and love from them. Its a blast to play and its wealth of content will keep me coming back for more for many moons to come
Kid Icarus: Uprising: Yup I'm old enough to remember the 3DS's 1st "true" Killer App and it was a great one, great story with excellent characters and some of the best online on the 3DS, still looks stunning all these years later
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy Curtain Call: The first Theatrhythm, was great, this one??? Its unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!! More content is jammed on that little cart than ever before and it really is the best soundtrack from any video game series and then you top it off with some Chrono Trigger?!???!?!?!/!!
Honorable mentions go to: Mario Kart 7, Fire Emblem Awaking, Pokémon X, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Super Smash Bros. For 3DS, Pilotwings Resort, Kirby: Triple Deluxe (plenty of great games up there, but hey if it were a top 20 they wouldn't be honorable mentions!!!!)
Happy Birthday 3DS! Here to as many more as you got!

Re: Poll: Vote For Your Ten Must-Play Games On Nintendo 3DS

HandheldGuru97

Jesus...four years, huh? That means this E3 it'll have been 5 years since the 3DS was announced, damn...getting old aren't we??? Like many above me have said the 3DS is my favorite Nintendo handheld and, dare I say it as a HandheldGuru, the greatest handheld of all time. Give me a few minutes folks...I'll get back to you on my top 10 soon (this may take a while...)

Re: Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Edition Bundle Launching May 22nd

HandheldGuru97

Hoho!!!!!!! I've been looking forward to this pack, glad to see it'll only be $30. I know some won't jump on it because its a "match 3" game, but 20 some years ago, no hell 10 years ago these games did in fact cost money. Of course they were easy to riddle with microtransactions so...here we are now. But hey from what I've heard, no annoying pop ups or free-to-play mechanics will be popping up in either of these games , so for $30??? I'm sold Ninty.

Re: Review: Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. (3DS)

HandheldGuru97

I've been having a difficulty getting hyped for any game as of late... Other Etrian Mystery Dungeon, I can't find any excitement for any game...then I read this review, the train is a little rusty, but hype mode engage!!!!!! I played a tiny bit of the demo a few weeks ago, I'll fire it back up later today or tomorrow and get Code Name S.T.E.A.M soon!!!!!!!

Re: Chrono Trigger Turns 20, but is Ultimately Timeless

HandheldGuru97

Wowza, 20 years eh??? Crazy. I, like many others on here, got the DS version back in.......2009-10-ish.... I can safely say, I hated JRPGs before Chrono Trigger, sure I had played Pokémon RPGs, but I just couldn't get into the Final Fantasy's, DQ's, Earthbound's and whatnot. Chrono Trigger changed everything 2010 was the year that I went on a Dragon Quest/Final Fantasy RPG run like no other...man good times! Back in 2010 CT was fresh, stunning and beautiful, the story was specular, the soundtrack...my God the music! The best soundtrack in a game, hands down. Easily one of my favorite DS games and one of my favorite games of all time. Might be time for another playthrough!!!

Re: Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson Confirmed For European Launch, Embarrassing Limited Edition Packs Promised

HandheldGuru97

Oh Japan...oh Japan....
Also "Happy Boob Edition??????????????????????????"
.................................................................................................................................... I can't, I just can't! That is literally the greatest name for a limited edition form of media, EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sadly us 'Merican's are getting the Double D Limited Edition, no happy boobies for us (at least not in the real world ) Sounds like the US run will be a little limited (SHUSH!!!!!! Before "they" find out....), might be a wee bit too....well....um over the top for me....but what the hell! I'll take a copy!
I'll pay in cash...can't have this on the card...now how do I get this past mother??? hmmmm....

Re: Review: Adventure Bar Story (3DS eShop)

HandheldGuru97

I'd say thats about I expected, but I would give it an 8/10. For a tiny little $6 RPG, its fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lack of 3D aside, its a fun little gem that I been enjoying way more than I though I'd be! Not very handholding-y, but I like that a bit. Sure there are parts were I was confused as to what I needed to do, but after an hour I knew what I was doing. I really can't recommend it enough! Hell if it were still 2008, I'd have no problem dropping $30 for it on the DS (there'd need to be a bit more fleshing out needed mainly in the music/location areas), but in 2015 for $6, just lacking a wee bit??? Sold! Its a great little gem if you're hungry for an cheap RPG on the 3DS, you won't get much better than this!

Re: Nintendo Download: 26th February (North America)

HandheldGuru97

Whoop, whoop!!!!!!!!!!! The Donkey Kong Land games! I'll probably, at the very least, grab DKL 1 and maybe 2...for those who don't know 3 got a GBC port in Japan and the cart actually doesn't cost to much, so I'll probably stick to that one for my GBC (when I find a cheap-ish US seller )

Re: Talking Point: New Nintendo 3DS, Operation Faceplate NA and the Bigger Picture

HandheldGuru97

As Ron DelVillano said, "if you are living in North America and you do not want the New 3DS XL, then I encourage you not to purchase one. Show the company what you do and do not want through your support of their products, not by lashing out with petty attacks on social media." Boom. Easy as that I've seen countless droves of people who were going to get the Standard unit complain and attack Nintendo for not releasing the Standard unit and...guess what they all bought? Thats basically like going back into an abusive relationship, you get out for a while try and get it together and then, wham! Right back in and suffering under that same abuse as before. Because of those people Nintendo will likely never release the Standard New 3DS in the Americas! So I will stand firm for now, sure I'll get the HDSBoy when it comes out, but not on launch day and most certainly not if Nintendo pulls one like this over us again.

Re: Nintendo Download: 19th February (North America)

HandheldGuru97

Lookie here! What an excellent week! Jesus guys really, really??? (Maybe the cynicism of the internet is what makes me a cynic hmmm...investigation is needed...). Either lets see; a retail/download game THATS CHEAP! on the eShop as a major highlight, a SNES VC release, thats Shump!!! (which means I have to look into it ), a handful of RPG/Rougelikes on the 3DS shop (Adventure Bar Story has been on my radar since they released early info on it), some DLC and Demos! Well to me, that looks pretty damn good, but who knows....maybe my standards are to low....
