In the latest Japanese Nintendo Direct presentation we were gifted with some footage of the previously announced Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon for 3DS.
We've grabbed the footage below to show you how the game has developed upon its predecessors, but unfortunately we don't have any confirmed release date for the West just yet.
Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon will be released for the 3DS in Japan on the 17th September 2015.

Looks fun and better than Gates to Infinity. Hopefully it's as great as the Explorers trilogy, those were amazing!
Where did the video go?
@RudysaurusRex Looking into it...
EDIT: And we're back.
Looks like a fun and calm game. It could be a nice break to all the action in Monster Hunter and games like that.
Suckers ahoy.....Everytime I think about Pokemon Mystery Dungeon I think about when "Pokemon" had episodes that featured talking sub-titles.
After playing Gates to Infinity, they would need to do something spectacular with this game before I think about getting it
@crimsontadpoles that one easily had the best story out of all of them, even with the shorter gameplay. If the next game is better than Gates to Infinity, it will be perfect.
Guessing from the music taken from the last gen, we've got nothing really other than seeing that the main adventure has multiple campaigns featuring legends. Hm. That I covered is basically Mystery Dungeon in a nutshell.
Yus! I must get this! Hopefully it will come to the west.
Yes! I know I'm in the minority, but man I love the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series. Gates to Infinity wasn't terrible (wasn't as good as PMD Time, but that game was incredible) this looks like a much welcome return to form from PMD Gates. All 721 Pokemon and the full starter roster!?!??!?! Sold! I'll be getting this when it hits the States this fall/winter!
I really hope they include faster text speed option because gates to infinity was just too slow paced for me.
Cyndaquil! Bae! IM SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU AGAIN ;-;
Piplup! Sold!
So wait. YOu're telling me I can beat legendary pokemon a turtwig, one of my fav pokemon? I'm sold. But first I need to play through some of the other PMD games. Just picked up Gates and soon time.
@LordofMentos If I can say anything, I would recommend Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. :3
Accordingly to the texts in the trailer , I think that I have an idea about what the plot will be about :
-Raticat says : we have problems ,some pokemon are turning to stone !!
-in the Dianciie movie , those hit with Yveltal's attack are turned to stone
-plot : some evil pokemon woke up yveltal from his deep slumber , that poke thought that he could control Yveltal's power , Yveltal is out of control , the main poke hero ( us ) is looking for Xerneas , or , we have to defeat Yveltal ourselves . I think the other legends are gonna be post game .
In the reshiram cutseen we learn that : This is the summum of all the PMD games .
BUUUULLBBBAAASAAAAUUUUR!!!!!
@Alpha2797 I hope for the same... ; u ;
Is it too much to ask to give us the ability to evolve at the starter of the game verses having to wait until we've not only beaten the story but a few side quests as well? Never liked how both my starter and partner were around level 50 before I could actually evolve them.
This game is already looking better than GtI, already we know that all of the current Pokemon will be in (720/721 I think, since Volcanion hasn't officially been revealed yet). There is one thing that disappoints me in this trailer though and that's the starter list. They did exactly what I was hoping they didn't do (besides making it limited like GtI), which was include every main game starter and little else, we didn't get anything cool like Shinx or Vulpix like we did in the older games. Heck, I would've been fine with just having the 1st, 3rd, and 6th gen starters if it meant we could get more variety in the starter list, but no such luck.
Looks like all of the Pokemon! Yes!
This looks...really, REALLY promising. Hopefully this will mend the damage that Gates to Infinity did to the series.
I've always had a small interest in the mystery dungeon games but have never really played one. This looks decent but I dont really have anything to compare it to. (Though I didnt like the Gates to Infinity demo)
@Bolt_Strike I can see where you are coming from, but since most starters are some of the most recognizable Pokémon out there, it is fully understand on GF and Nintendo's part. With Six generations of starters, thats 18 Pokemon (and you can't just say, "well scrap the 2nd, 4th and 5th generations, because they're weakest generation(s)" or whatever other excuse you have. You run the risk of alienating fans if you went that route (like me, Totodile represent!) Now looking here at Bulbapedia (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Player_character) the largest roster for a PMD games is 19 (Sky) and not including all 3 variations of PDM on WiiWare as one game which would thus creating a massive roster (and the largest by and far). The problem that we get when hitting nearly 20+ Pokemon is simply the fact that there are too many, its overwhelming. Now I know its 20 out of 720(!!!!), but with all Pokes included you are going to be able to find all of these common and slightly lesser (but equally loved) Pokemon pretty early in the game (I'd assume). Pikachu gets an automatic in for being the franchise mascot, Riolu is the baby Poke of one of the more popular Gen. IV Pokes (who also happens to be in Smash...) Lucario. That puts us at 20 Starters. 20 Thats quite a bit so if GF doesn't want to add anymore...yes its lazy and yes its kinda understandable too. In my opinion I'm just glad Totodile is back, sure Skitty, Mewoth or maybe even Eevee would've been great all along with some of those other 2nd tier Pokemon, but GF will get pass from me...for now. (Now if was only 5 Pokes like GtI...we'd have a problem....)
(Damn...that was a long essay on the Theory of Starter Picking )
Awesome trailer, so many good things in it. We have ALL the Pokémon, as well as ALL the starters. I can be Bulbasaur again! Yeah! Also, they show like 80% of the legendarys in the trailer, which is pretty rad. I think Gates is pretty underrated, and really not all that bad, but this looks like a huge improvement in general.
Nearly freaked at the trailer. It seems to be going the Explorers of___ route. And that's amazing. Gates to Infinity sucked. Glad to continue the adventures of Chimchar and Totodile.
Aww, the only playable Pokemon not a starter Pokemon is Riolu...
@HandheldGuru97 TOTODILE REPRESENT. Feraligatr is my favorite Pokemon of all time.
@DarkKirby Yeah… I wish we got Meowth, at least...
Wow, I really don't get the bashing of GTI. Let's be honest, the game had a really dark but amazing story. It's only problem was no post game and lack of pokemon selection, both of which are fixed here it seems. Anyway super psyched! This great! Story should be interesting as well.
@zoroarkrules25 - You basically summed up the hate there. No post game, Lack Pokemon choice and other things like smaller screen view and other small things that pushed my buttons.
Entei! I love him
Why do you always have to start out as a baby start Pokémon or Pikachu?! I want to play story mode as Chimecho, Quagsire or Zen Mode Darmanitan! Even Inkay would be cool!
@HandheldGuru97 2nd, 4th, and 5th generations aren't "weak generations". The reason I suggested scrapping those starters this game is because they're simply not the focus of this gen, the games are primarily advertising the 1st and 6th gen (which were both prominently featured in XY) starters and the 3rd gen starters (which were prominently featured in ORAS). So no, there's no more a risk of alienating fans in this game than any main game. And I think more people would be alienated by not seeing some other Pokemon like Eevee as starters than they would by including every single main game starter. Not every Pokemon needs to be advertised all of the time, it makes more sense to advertise whichever are most relevant at the time, in this case 1st, 3rd, and 6th gen Pokemon.
