As all eager Nintendo fans know, the company's E3 2015 Digital Event is taking place on 16th June at 9am Pacific / Noon Eastern / 5pm UK / 6pm CET, during which it'll focus on releases for this year and, undoubtedly, some surprises. It wasn't the only big player planning to show off its goods at that time, however.
Once Nintendo confirmed its plans a rare clash emerged, with the big N's broadcast falling at the same time as the press conference from Square Enix. That would naturally have split viewers online, and now Square Enix has taken the sensible option and pushed back its event by an hour; it'll now come after Nintendo's Digital Event.
For gamers planning to watch every major press conference and event this is no doubt good news. Whether this Square Enix broadcast will feature any information for Nintendo fans will be interesting to see - we're still awaiting localisation details on Bravely Second and, well, any of the recent Dragon Quest re-releases on 3DS.
Will you be watching the Square Enix press conference after Nintendo's event?
With thanks to Benson for the heads up.

Thank you Squeenix
Square Enix, please bring Kingdom Hearts III to Wii U.
Prefect! I'll go right from Nintendo to Square-Enix's, pray for DQ or anything Nintendo related.
Give us some VC games Square Enix! Some of us would love some Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, and SMRPG on our Wii Us...
Im sure a lot of people on here are going to give me a hard time about this, but I'm just happy somebody moved.
And I doubt Ill be watching Squenix after the ND as Ill probanly be on here posting w/ everybody Ill catch the Squenix highlights later on Sammy's site, I only have so much energy for these things, and Sony is Monday night.
Ah, E3.
Meh, just watching E3 just for Nintendo...screw the 3rd parties. T.T
(most of them anyways)
@Ducked I'd love to see this, unlikely as it may be. I think they probably have a contract to keep the main games of the series PlayStation exclusives. If that changes though I hope they'd go the Bayonetta route and give us I and II as well.
Thank you Schopenhauer. Because there is no way I am missing Hegel's presentation.
I'm fairly sure just one of the reasons they are prepared to move for nintendo is that one of their big games (Tomb Raider) for this year will no doubt be at the MS show
A western release for Dragon Quest X on the Wii U pleaseeeeeee!!!!!
@DonSerrot
They are very likely to bring 1 & 2 to PS4 and XB1, so if that happens they could bring it to Wii U as well.
I was so glad to hear about Dragon Quest VIII coming to 3DS. I hope it gets ported. I have some mixed feelings about Square. They have pretty much moved into smart phones with a bang and seem to be doing pretty well. It wouldn't surprise me if sometime in the next year they follow Konami and Sega to the Greener Pastures of smart phones and Tablets. Or so they think its greener pastures. I'm worried about them doing this and it would be a huge console loss.
@MikeW Keep Hoping man! I've been hoping since they announced the game and will continue to hope. I would also be happy with a 3DS port but Wii-U would really be the way to play it.
Just want to see some Kingdom Hearts 3 on Wii U, especially considering how great Dream Drop Distance was not only in gameplay, but storywise its a critical edition to the series, probably not gonna happen, but would love to see it. Also, how about a sequel to The World Ends With You? Not asking to much right?
Just shows that only "fans," not developers underestimate Nintendo's chances.
@Ducked Wow, news gets to me slow on this one apparently. I'm only now finding out that KHIII is going multiplatform, and that news is apparently already a couple years old by now. Now I can hope all the more!
Quite glad about this as I really wanted to watch them both as they went out. I've heard quite a few podcasters saying they'd be watching the Square Enix one because it was live, and Nintendo's was all pre-recorded and just being made available at that time. That was kind of baffling as I don't see what difference being live or pre-recorded makes.
Obviously excited for Nintendo, but Square should have a great year too. As always I look forward to anything on Final Fantasy XV, Type 1 and Kingdom Hearts 3, but this year we know there's going to be Deus Ex, Just Cause and Tomb Raider at the very least.
@DonSerrot Kingdom Hearts 3 was never an exclusive. They said it was going to be on PS4 and Xbone from the first announcement. The cost of getting it working on both those is probably very close to what it would cost to get it running on one of them, so it makes sense. It's also being made in Unreal Engine 4, so... it's very unlikely we'll see it on Wii U. Not impossible, but as I said in the NPD article, people aren't going to spend the money required to get that engine working on Wii U when it's selling so poorly (and especially when games not made by Nintendo, no matter how well received they are (Bayonetta 2) sell so poorly).
@DonSerrot
Yes. You know Microsoft had to put up some money to get the series on Xbox. I'm hoping Nintendo does the same.
Yay, I can watch both.
I bet you Nintendo's event probably won't finish on exactly 10 or before, so most people will probably still miss at least the start of SquareEnix's conference if they plan on watching both.
Good deal. But I'll be working anyways so it makes no difference. What I usually do is come home and watch the event, sometimes I give in and check online on my phone to see the big announcements though
Crosses fingers for Chrono Trigger revival!
I only usually watch Nintendo's conference cause the other ones are usually really boring, but I would say that was a smart move by square enix, and I'm going they have done good news for us Nintendo fans that love them. (Dragon quest for 3ds and Wii u, bravely second please! )
Great news as I really like watching those live.
Man, why isn't it June already?
Kingdom Hearts 3, Dragon Quest X and possibly Final Fantasy Explorers is all I want to hear about from Square Enix. Otherwise they can get bent.
Looking forward to the surprises Nintendo's gonna offer SO hard! o/
Well I wanted to watch both at the same time but this is way better xDDDD
Hopefully we'll get a date for Bravely Second for North America.
I will probably look at the Square Enix announcements, but I'm pretty disappointed in Kingdom Hearts. The series has nothing to do with Disney anymore.
I'll be watching Square Enix pretend that Final Fantasy is still a good franchise, while simultaneously keeping their amazing Dragon Quest games Japan-exclusive, all while throwing my money at the screen and cursing them.
Guessing there's nothing else for Nintendo gamers
@Tsurii897 Yeah, they've already pretty much confirmed a sequel to Type 0. Maybe they'll keep that for TGS though.
@Peach64 Honestly I would much rather play SQ's games on Playstation. I don't know, it just feels right? I can't put it in words.
@Kirk Nintendo's event is a digital event with will be about 40 minutes like it was the previous 2 years.
What we don't know is that there was actually a heated battle between Nintendo and Square Enix for the time spot! In the end, Square Enix surrendered to end the horrifying blood shed. Many lives were lost...oh well!
While I doubt there's gonnae be anything other than maybe whatever tantalus are porting to concern me n my wii u with ,it was at least nice n professional of square to push this back seeing as it's traditionally nintendos spot.
Again, isn't it odd that an industry reliant on computers, the internet, and flawless, seamless cut scenes still flogs its wares by dragging out a barely conscious dev leader who hasn't combed his hair to discuss what would be happening if the big screen was working at that moment in time.
My hopes we get some NES,Game Boy,and Game Boy color games on virtual console with final fantasy 3D classics
Undoubtedly we will see some Tomb Raider footage, well not for Wii U, but for others.
BOW TO THE KING!
Square enix usually does not have one or they do and I never see it. I normally watch the big 3s conferences, ubisoft, and ea. but this year it looks like everyone wants to have their own thing.
@Ducked
They HAVE to since Epic Mickey is no more.
@Peach64 well bayo 2 was a success for platnium since ninty ate the cost. I'm sure it made some profit if not just broke even. I wouldn't be suprised if we see platnium again even tho 101 was a total failure
Hard to follow the big "N"? Could be....
Aw sweet, now I might watch it. Nice work Square Enix.
@Peach64 NPD data alone, shows that Bayonetta 2 was a bigger success than the original, with both 360 and PS4 combined. It was a success, and Platinum have stated that they are planning on doing more with Bayinetta. I think, in the first two days of release in N/A alone, Bayonetta 2 sold over 120,000 copies. The original, releasing on both 360 and PS4 combined, sold around 85,000 copies in 10 days. Bayonetta 2 has since gone on to sell approx. 540,000 copies to date, according to NPD, the Japanese Data Collection System, and the European System. However, 2 of these systems do not include digital sales. So, the total sales to date is probably slightly higher than the one I listed.
As for the Wonderful 101, who are we to say if it failed or succeeded. The primary goal of any game release, is to recover development cost, and hopefully make a profit. As that information has not been released, nobody ca say, with 100% certainty, that it failed, or it succeeded in doing what it was supposed to do.
Well, that's cool of them to do. I'll tune in just for the courtesy, even though I'm not expecting any Nintendo stuff out of them.
Good i can watch both now.
@DBPirate idk i think nintendo was underestimated by developers last year if only for a short time before e3.
@rjejr I feel the same way! I'm glad someone moved, realizing that it shouldn't be a contest right? To be honest, it didn't matter to me because I don't really care for Square Enix or it's upcoming titles, but glad to see fans of both will be able to see them without sacrificing the other
@DonSerrot yup but at this rate i'm more worried about how much trouble the story is and how may bugs they been encountering trying to make it not to mention how they plan to handle the gameplay so at this rate it might not b out this year but if i recall something about 2016 has been mentioned about a release date but you can sure bet they ill mention kh3.
Good. This is very good. I'd have been pissed to miss either of them. I don't know which I would have chosen otherwise (probably Square just for Kingdom Hearts and a possible FFXV release date)
Everyone wins with this choice.
I never bother with third party companies when it comes to E3, but this just made me wonder if Atlus will present anything interesting for me. I'd love details on the already announced Etrian Odyssey V. Naturally it wouldn't be anywhere near their main announcement, but it'd be really welcome regardless. New SMT for a system I own/will own would be great, too.
Is Square Enix going to announce their commitment to mobile games too?
Aside from Bravely Default 2 or maybe even DQ, I wouldn't hold my breath for anything Nintendo from their conference.
Oh yeah...mobile games. Everybody is into mobile now, right? Yup....
That's nice of them, it's good that one of the companies moved their times
@LinkSword doesn't Sega own Atlus now? And Sega isn't holding a press conference so...I'd love to be proved wrong though!
@T7L3RB Yep, they do. I honestly have almost zero knowledge on E3 so you're most likely right. I just remember hearing something about Persona 5's release date being announced on E3, so I figured Atlus would have a conference, but I guess it might just be mentioned in the Sony one or something.
That's great news to here. Last year I only watched the big three's E3 conferences, but I'm hoping to try and manage to watch all of the E3 conferences this year. Admittedly, there isn't much to interest me in most of the others, but still I feel it will be a nice thing to watch as many of them as I can anyway, and it will give me plenty to discuss on my channel.
As far as Square Enix goes, my only real hope is for Bravely Second to get a worldwide release announcement (or to have a situation like last time, when an improved version is announced and we end up getting that as our standard version). A new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for Wii U would be cool, and I did like Children of Mana on the DS so a new Mana game like that for 3DS would be great, though I'm not expecting these.
@LinkSword just because Sega won't be there doesn't mean Atlus won't I guess...Atlus is still kinda treated like a separate company so maybe they will show up
So, either they moved it because they knew people would rather watch Nintendo, or they've got Nintendo games they want to announce that would go unnoticed if they didn't change the time... Either way suits me!
Are square going to be supporting Wii U more?
Dagnabit...it's far too early for hype.
@ikki5 Well it will be close...
PLEASE, just localize Dragon Quest VII remake for the 3ds. It's all I want in life... You can keep my wide, daughter, business...... Just give me dqvii remake in English, and I'll sign over my soul.
I love both Square and Nintendo so ye esss
SquareEnix (Squaresoft) used to be my favorite game company but I lost faith in them long ago when FF went to crap and all their games started to suck. I dont have any hopes for the SE presentation, I probably wont even watch it, but part of me is hoping that the presidential change within the company recently will trigger that long awaited FF6 remake. Haha
This is a sign of either a new partnership or a serious grudge, OR the two conferences are completely unaffiliated and it's just a coincidence. We shall see...
@invictus4000 I heard that. Most everything before or around the early 2000's I hold in high regard. Everything else, meh. I've tried to play FF XII five different times and every time I get to the same point and just sell the game.
I think I'd cry if they announced a FF VI remake. Tears of joy, naturally.
No smartphone, please!
______
I would like--
Chrono Cross HD
Xenogears HD
Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance HD
Dragon Quest V HD
Dragon Quest VIII HD
Final Fantasy XII HD
@Ducked Agreed. I would like the two HD Remixes of the older games as well!
What is Square Enix?
@Scarhino89 I believe that Mobile Games will be unavoidable since Nintendo said that they will make games from the main franchises for the mobile market.
But let's break it down what could interest me the most:
Persona 5, Just Cause 3, LEGO Jurassic World, Mario Maker, Star Fox U, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Yoshi's Wooly World.
Capcom, Microsoft and Ubisoft won't make the cut, since they have nothing to offer for me at all. The rest of the E3 show? Will see what it will offer.
@Ducked I'm going to cry for an hour if they don't announce KH3 for Wii U.
They're the 2 Japanese developers that I like the most, so good for me. Star Ocean 5 is looking GOOD.
