Re: Microsoft CEO Says He Would "Love To Get Rid Of" Exclusives On Consoles

HammerKirby

Nintendo was the one who basically "invented" the system selling exclusive with Super Mario Bros. Although you could argue it goes back further with Atari buying up the Pac Man rights. Either way exclusives are amazing ideally. It gives each console their own identity. What is the Xbox One's identity going to be LMAO? While it may mean you might not get to experience every game you want if you can't afford (or have some weird hang-up) about owning multiple systems, it makes each console distinct and fun to talk about. The fact that exclusives as a concept are slowly fading away is kinda sad to me honestly. Anyways yeah this Microsoft statement is dumb.

@Not_Soos I hear people say this and it always kind of confuses me. You do know the Switch could still last 10 years, with a successor coming out in that timeframe, right? Just look at the 3ds, PS2, NES, SFC in Japan, etc. They could easily come out with a successor say next year and still keep supporting the Switch with cross-gen games and smaller releases.

Re: Sonic Fans Are Already Really Mad About Sonic Origins Plus

HammerKirby

@Serpenterror Not true. The Master System versions run at 60 hz when played on a U.S Master system or Genesis. https://youtu.be/SQPvA0OvR24. When it comes to retro games, the video standard is tied to the console itself, not the games. However some games that are "optimized" for PAL will actually run faster than intended on NTSC consoles. But this does not apply to all of Sega JP's games on Master System.

Re: Atlus Officially Confirms Persona 5 Tactica For Nintendo Switch

HammerKirby

@HeadPirate You are aware Sega already owns Atlus right? So they would have to buy Sega. And while Sega has a good business relationship with Microsoft, they also have a good business relationship with Nintendo as well. Also I really doubt Sega Sammy wants to be bought, since they are doing just fine as is. Also its tough for American companies to buy Japanese companies.

Re: Dolphin Emulator Steam Release "Indefinitely Postponed"

HammerKirby

@HeadPirate Dolphin is actually violating the law but not for THIS reason lol. It has the Wii system code keys in its code which is illegal. Emulation is perfectly legal as demonstrated in the Sony vs Connectix and Sony vs Bleem cases. The cases which you cite are related to Switch modchips which have NOTHING to do with emulation lol.

Re: Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope Frame Rate And Resolution Detailed

HammerKirby

@Truegamer79 framerate is actually very important in a platforming game. That's why almost every Super Mario game runs at 60 besides 64 and Sunshine, which are earlier 3d games so they get a pass. Trust me if Mario World somehow ran at 30 fps you would notice. But yeah I agree it doesn't matter in an rpg too much.

Re: Nvidia Employee Comment Confirms Chip Rumoured To Be Used In 'Switch Pro' Is Real

HammerKirby

@BloodNinja the news media? Dude I sent you a video recorded directly from the console, not just an article.. Should I trust a video or your recollection from years ago back when 360 and ps3 really struggled to run anything. You're one of those people who thinks Facebook is a more reliable source of news than media aren't you? Oh then why do you care about the shops shutting down if you don't even own the consoles?

Re: Nvidia Employee Comment Confirms Chip Rumoured To Be Used In 'Switch Pro' Is Real

@BloodNinja Do you remember how bad Skyrim performed on ps3? Switch does 900p docked, fairly consistent 30 fps according to Digital Foundry. https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2017-skyrim-switch-vs-playstation-4 Skyrim on Ps3 is 720p docked with bad anti-aliasing, making for a worse picture than a sharp 720p and truly abymasal framerate. Here's a framerate test for Skyrim on ps3: https://youtu.be/QuOBSSabBU0
