@electrolite77 Ironically the Key Cards are the reason stuff like this happens. Only standard way for an upgrade path on Switch 2 is a Switch 2 Edition which cannot be a key card as they can't work on Switch 1. Some games use a workaround to get around this process like Hogwarts or Deltarune, but that enables essentially being able to share a discount around with a Switch 1 physical copy if they let it work with physical games.
Theres some fairly minor dips from 60 fps. It really isn't that big of a deal. (I've played the game myself so...) Unless it gets really bad later in the game or something... Most games that are at all demanding will have frame rate drops at some point.
Nice to hear! Yet another sign showing Switch 2 Editions can't be "key cards" as they won't work with Switch 1. They either have to be an actual game card or a download code in a box (or just digital only all together.)
I figured this was a software issue tbh. Why would Nintendo post VRR support docked to everyone of their international websites if the hardware could never support it? Guessing a software issue cropped up which is why it was removed. Bet it will be patched at some point.
@axelhander yea of course. I do feel like the issue has lessened over time though. I feel like they might've fixed the issue with Switch 2 at least to a degree. I know people like iFixIt say that any analog stick using that type of technology is vulnerable to it, but Gamecube, Wii nunchucks/classic controller, Wii U gamepad/pro controller and even the Switch Pro Controller use that similar tech and seem to be just fine for the most part. So I'm guessing the Switch 1 Joy Con stick was just a bad part that was more vulnerable to stick drift.
@SamusHunter182 that would be possible for the most part likely... It would cause worse battery life and weird glitches in game with more significant docked mode differences like Pokemon Let's Go.
@Mgalens its not input lag. But basically its how long a pixel on a screen takes to shift to another pixel. If it takes too long, it could create a ghosting effect visible to some users.
@The_Nintend_Pedant MK8 and World reverted it back to the MK64 blue shell where it could slides along the track and can spin out anybody if that's what you mean.
@AstroTheGamosian Mario Kart 8 Deluxe did that already actually in an update. Guessing World was already fairly late into development by the time that was added, which is why the feature wasn't carried over?
Reading what Iizuka said, I feel like you all are really playing this up to get clicks lmao. If anything something like the Bullet Bill, Golden Shroom or Lightning help a back of the pack racer catch up a LOT more than a blue shell does. This seems like a massive stretch to me.
I do notice it, but I feel like it would only really bother someone like John Linneman lmao. Its mostly only noticeable to me on the menus and in 2d sprite games, but even then my eyes adjust eventually.
@Sambuc Nintendo themselves have NEVER released a game that requires a patch in order to be played. And they almost always come out with revisions of their physical games later that have the patches on the cart. And yes I hate the Switch games that required online downloads to be played as well and never bought any of them. There was outrage for those games as well, but it wasn't on the scale of this, so the outrage was smaller scale to match.
@jorel262 yea I think its bc the Switch doesn't have support for Key Cards. (Switch 2 Edition physicals need to work on Switch 1 so the only other option rn other than an actual cart is a download code in the box)
@Oubie No. Sega seems to be avoiding that in favor of (?) putting out Key Cards. I dunno this whole situation is pretty strange, but it seems like Switch 2 Editions and Key Cards don't mix and the only other way to have an upgrade path is a weird workaround like Hogwarts or Deltarune. Sonic Racing Crossworlds will have an upgrade path tho as it is a a Switch 2 Edition title
It seems like if you buy the Switch 1 vers and play on Switch 2 it will run nearly identical to the Switch 2 vers since its 1080p uncapped. Well as a collector that's what I'll be doing since Switch gets an actual physical. Strange Switch 2 doesn't at least target 1440p tho Handheld mode is a bit of a downgrade at 720p, but hey it'll likely have better battery life at least. 🤷♂️
I feel like such a dork saying this but how does this make any sense with the lore of Cranky Kong being the original arcade DK, which is seemingly referenced in this very game no less? Is time travel somehow involved???
No disrespect to the guy, but I'm honestly missing Charles Martinet playing this game. I feel his Mario was better in Wonder for one. And his Wario and Waluigi leave something to be desired... His Luigi is decent to give some credit though.
@Arcsol did you watch the video? They said it was quite good and the somewhat sore spot is the DLC, but even then they said its impressive it's running at all.
@Yoshi3 Yea. Its all fine. I also feel like most non USD Dollar Sign currencies usually go higher than just a $10 bump from what I understand so thats also partly why I assumed that and kinda did a poor job explaining myself after lol. But now I know you just converted to USD.
@Yoshi3 I do know that, but its usually assumed by default as USD unless otherwise specified. I may have overreacted somewhat tho. I'm just really tired of seeing misinformation spread. I'm sorry. Anyway, why do you have the US marked as the location on your profile if that's not actually where you live??? (I actually checked before I made my initial comment which is why I thought you were from the US)
@AllBLK again I'm aware other countries outside the US exist thank you. I just really think people should specify what currency they are actually referring to. $ is almost always USD or at the very least CAD, so I feel like they should be more specific about currency to avoid misinformation getting around

@axelhander Joy Con drift has never personally been an issue for me

@Mgalens yea I saw someone already responded to you, so hopefully one of us at least made it a bit easier to understand lol
Re: "One Of The Slowest Modern LCDs I've Ever Seen" - Digital Foundry's John Linneman On Switch 2's Display
@SamusHunter182 thats due to the Switch 2 having to upscale the 720p image to match the 1080p screen, plus the screen just being bigger in general.

Re: Trails Beyond The Horizon Slips To Early 2026, But It's Also Coming To Switch 2
$10 more expensive than ps5 and Switch 1 which actually have the game on the media. Pure Greed.
