@Darthmoogle Most newer 3d Mario games have really challenging levels tucked away in the postgame. Even NSMBWii, 2 and U had levels akin to the Star Road from SMW. There's a good chance this game will have something like that as well.
Remember guys, difficulty is subjective. I personally find all mainline Mario games to be easy, even Mario 3. You have no idea how good the reviewer is at platformers so it could be more challenging for you. Also, what revolutionary things are possible with a 2d platformer at this point? With a genre that's existed for 40 years, there isn't much left that's not already been done lol.
@Alckemy yes but you definitely expect a certain type of game when you buy a mainline 2d Mario game. Casuals would be so offput by a metroidvania in that situation for one.
@EaglyBird A lot of "definitive" editions these days like Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition, Fallout 4 GotY edition, etc, actually have the dlc on a download code. Still sucks though no doubt. Could they really not have just launched this on the same day as the second part of the DLC???
@TheMegaMarshtomp is that different in the EU? In the US, its just a year. But I find that even within a year it'll still glitch out a lot of times. Lol
@TheMegaMarshtomp Just to give you a head ups. Gold point redemption never works on games that get physical releases later on after the digital release.
@Keman There is no leak that says Switch is on par with ps5. DLSS could help Switch 2 get a lot closer to ps5 even with around ps4 specs, which is probably what you've been hearing.
@Haruki_NLI tbf most of that was "Switch Pro", not a true successor. But I think some people are desperate for Ninty to keep up with the competition, specs wise lol
@HeadPirate buddy there were still Gamecube games that targeted 30 fps. Framerate is still a thing on old consoles. If it wasn't you couldn't plug them into modern tvs. And frankly most of this just reads like excusing poor optizimation. Even if TTYD doesn't "need" 60 fps.
@johnvboy Sega tried to change with the times tho. Dreamcast was the first console to have online built in. Sega's main problem was the total opposite of complacency. Being way too risky and coming out all of these different consoles and consoles models and stuff.
@shgamer 360 emulation is very much not that well developed tho. The only well developed 360 emulators out there are Xenia (which is not optimized well enough to work on Switch) and Microsoft's own internal 360 emulator for the Xbox One and Series Consoles.
@shgamer that would explain MGS2 running at 30 fps which has literally never gone that low? But it would be interesting if its 360 emulation since I would think porting the games would be easier than writing a 360 emulator from scratch for ps4/5, Xbox Series x/s and Switch.
@CharlieGirl I know people personally (as a 20 year old) that didn't want to play Mania due to its pixel art style. I think that's dumb but there's definitely a lot of people out there like that. Also as Sega doesn't release good sale numbers for their sales numbers for their games, there's no way to know how well Sonic Mania sold beyond the initial 1 million Sega posted on the Sonic Twitter.
Nintendo was the one who basically "invented" the system selling exclusive with Super Mario Bros. Although you could argue it goes back further with Atari buying up the Pac Man rights. Either way exclusives are amazing ideally. It gives each console their own identity. What is the Xbox One's identity going to be LMAO? While it may mean you might not get to experience every game you want if you can't afford (or have some weird hang-up) about owning multiple systems, it makes each console distinct and fun to talk about. The fact that exclusives as a concept are slowly fading away is kinda sad to me honestly. Anyways yeah this Microsoft statement is dumb.
@RetroGames why do people always have to do this song and dance? It's not the 90s anymore you're allowed to like both 🙄. If you don't like Sonic, that's fine but why do you all always have to bring up Mario as a comparsion when they really don't play that similar to each other?
@Not_Soos I hear people say this and it always kind of confuses me. You do know the Switch could still last 10 years, with a successor coming out in that timeframe, right? Just look at the 3ds, PS2, NES, SFC in Japan, etc. They could easily come out with a successor say next year and still keep supporting the Switch with cross-gen games and smaller releases.
@Serpenterror Not true. The Master System versions run at 60 hz when played on a U.S Master system or Genesis. https://youtu.be/SQPvA0OvR24. When it comes to retro games, the video standard is tied to the console itself, not the games. However some games that are "optimized" for PAL will actually run faster than intended on NTSC consoles. But this does not apply to all of Sega JP's games on Master System.
@HeadPirate You are aware Sega already owns Atlus right? So they would have to buy Sega. And while Sega has a good business relationship with Microsoft, they also have a good business relationship with Nintendo as well. Also I really doubt Sega Sammy wants to be bought, since they are doing just fine as is. Also its tough for American companies to buy Japanese companies.
@HeadPirate Dolphin is actually violating the law but not for THIS reason lol. It has the Wii system code keys in its code which is illegal. Emulation is perfectly legal as demonstrated in the Sony vs Connectix and Sony vs Bleem cases. The cases which you cite are related to Switch modchips which have NOTHING to do with emulation lol.
@Coalescence "I don't like the look of it so it should be blocked for anyone to play!!!" There's far worse games releasing on the Switch eshop so however you swing it, this is dumb logic.
@Zidentia remember when critics rated 2d games low in the late 90s just for being 2d? Critics have always have been at least somewhat driven by momentary issues.

Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - The Best 2D Mario Since The Super NES
@Daniel36 It's probably the connect world map with all the secret exits that gives that vibe.
Re: Random: Nintendo Gives Princess Peach Some Facial Tweaks In 'Showtime!' Key Art
They just gave her the dreamworks face lmao. Prefer the original but its not that big of a deal.

Re: Mario Producer: Sonic's Same Week Release Is "An Interesting Coincidence"
@Alckemy I wonder why they never did a Zelda dating sim? You know to appeal to all those people that don't even like Zelda in the first place?
Re: 3DS And Wii U Online Play Ends In "Early April" 2024
@PinderSchloss Microsoft just shut down their servers for the 360 Halo games like a year ago lmao.
Re: Poll: Do You Prefer Zelda: Wind Waker HD's Bloom Lighting Or The "Flat" OG?
Could you all maybe not use Gamecube Composite for the side by side? It makes the GC look worse. Component 480p would be more fair.

Re: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy Physical Switch Release Confirmed
@Waluigi451 Yeah idk. Isn't the Great Ace Attorney technically a collection since it has two games in it?
Re: Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy Physical Switch Release Confirmed
Why is this not getting a US physical when the last one did?

Re: Miyamoto Wasn't A Big Fan Of Super Mario Bros. Wonder's Early Elephant Design
It still doesn't look like a Mario character.
Re: Nintendo Announces Mario Red Edition Switch OLED, Out October
The dock should be Blue. To match Mario's overalls and make this look a bit more interesting.
Re: Review: Samba De Amigo: Party Central - Sega's Cult Classic Returns In Need Of A Shake-Up

Hand drawn would've been so amazing lol. Imagine if it looked like the Sonic Cd intro. Nonetheless the game looks pretty great as is.
