Newest game to crack my top 5 would probably be cuphead. 2017 was indeed insane for quality content! Even tho we got cuphead later (played it for the first time on switch). General top 5 is giving me anxiety trying to curate. So difficult
@gojiguy just checked and fighters pass 2 is 50% off right now (NA). I got the first pass on sale already, so it might be on sale as well and is just showing as ‘purchased’ for me.
Can you guys help me out with SMT 3ds games. I’m going to start with nocturne HD and have never played the series. Which 3ds titles are must plays before V comes out?? Thanks for the heads up on the 3ds sale @SwitchVogel. Like which version of IV do I buy???
I’m excited for Smt 3, Mario golf, skyward sword, and stories 2. There’s been a game a month coming out that I’ve wanted so can’t complain, except July with both SS and stories 2. If I start buying a bunch of 80 dollar games in a month I start to feel ridiculous. Collector in me does want the blasphemous and hotline Miami physicals tho.
I think I’m gonna go buy it today with some leftover gift cards I have. Loved the game on 64, and am a Pokémon fan for sure.
@BlackenedHalo Oh dang really?! I literally just bought it on ps4 in the spring sale cause I thought it wouldn’t come to switch. Damn it. I did only pay like 12 bucks tho. Shoot. Would have been nice having them both physical on the same console.
I can never unseen gyarados as the true final form of dratini, and dragonite as the final form of magikarp, thanks to the internet. It makes so much sense from their designs and colour palettes
Monster hunter rise. Finishing up all high rank 4* before I go on to 5*. Picked up thumper (and Rez, ratchet and clank, gungeon, Abzu, subnautica, the witness) for free on ps4. Thumper is actually insanely good! Should have listened to all the praise it got around here. Maybe I’m enjoying it so much since it was free
Played some 3D world with distant friends on the internet. Will definitely be playing monster hunter whenever I grab my switch. Thinking about buying the ni no kuni sequel in the ps spring sale.
Labo is super cool! I have the first kit and vehicle kit (that I got for 20 bucks at Walmart in Canada in my small town!) But I haven’t opened them. I’m saving the experience to share with my nephews and niece when they’re old enough. Would like to pick up the vr kit eventually too
This will probably get me to jump back into some matches. I’ve had tons of fun with this game. Unpopular opinion, I love playing as a survivor. Outmaneuvering a killer is soooo satisfying, especially when they give up on you.
@JayJ ya fair play. It just bothers me that there is stuff in the background that looks fun to skate, but your trapped on a linear path. I do like all the famous spots though, like Carlsbad gap and blah blah famous skate spots. At least with Ollie Ollie you were just dealing with what was in front of you, and the secret areas and optional paths, and weren’t teased by stuff you could never skate. I also played that game much like I played skate, and less arcade/rhythm like. It was fun to be like, “ok I’m gonna 3 flip the 80 stair then hold a massively long back rail, and then nose grind nollie flip out over the fork lift.’ I really enjoy putting together lines of tricks I think look good, and obviously it was on ridiculous obstacles in Ollie Ollie. Also just coming to grips with the push button to land or stomp tricks was satisfying and reminded me of the learning curve when Skate 1 came out. But ya I agree about more skate games the better. Truly I am a snowboarder, and like others have said I would love a good snowboard game. If I’m being honest, I’ve literally never enjoyed one, ever. 1080 was awesome for its time, but it just doesn’t satisfy and portray the sport like I want it to. Never liked ssx. Like fun for an hour, maybe would rent it, but just too dumb over the top. Shawn white snowboarding was terrible. Infinite air was ok but spinning past 1440’s on every air got kinda old. The animation and trick style was pretty proper though. Never got into steep, and unfortunately never have owned an Xbox so missed out on amped, which a lot of people talk very highly about, especially the second one. I guess I want a snowboard sim that just gets what if feels like to ride pow, or flow through a terrain park. Any type of rail riding in any snowboard game has just felt like trash and never understood rail riding etiquette or style or how tricks kinda ‘should be done’, or at least what it actually feels like. I digress.
Side scroller works for olli olli, but seems like a weird choice for a more 3D skate game. Animations look kinda stiff. Skate 4 needs to hurry up! I thought we were getting skater xl?? What happened to that
hahahaha as a skateboarder, I loved the first game! Spent a lot of time with it on my ps3. Bought the double pack for switch and haven't played it yet. This looks so great, and a cool direction for the series. I'll definitely get it.
I loved my time with oxenfree. So I decided to play through it again, and it was even better! I actually felt rewarded going through it a second time. Great game. I’m a sucker for this genre in media tho.
I never understood the appeal until my buddy told me to bring my 3ds to campus. Ohhhhhhh that’s how you get street pass hits lol. Took some computer science courses for a year and I was rolling in street pass miis. Loved it.
No problems yet and I’ve put in 20 ish hours already. This game is so good. I think playing stories 2 prepped me for the lore and world of a mainline game kinda. I had a 3ds demo of like 3u or something and never really liked it. Rise is awesome. Glad I ordered the rise pro controller too; can’t wait for it to show up.
THPS 2, both THUG’s, and American wasteland are some of my favourite gaming experiences, and I absolutely loved them at the time. Then skate absolutely destroyed them for me. Can’t go back to this style of arcade skateboarding anymore. The soundtracks would be the only highlight. Bring on skate 4 and hopefully it gets released on switch or it’s successor.
@Azuris DualShock style? Or with sticks on top? I can’t think of a controller with sticks above the dpad/command button. That’s probably a thing, right? It would be cool to have a set of joycon with a proper, responsive, and accurate dpad taking priority with the command buttons above the sticks. Supplementary to the stock style of joy con.
I’ve been wanting to play it as I finished the first one for the first time on switch, but didn’t want to play them back to back. Can’t really find it anywhere in Canada which is disappointing. I want a physical copy.
@nerdface That’s my least favourite part about the game! It’s super annoying on multiplayer. The simple rules mode is great, but I wish you could toggle off the splitscreen. Tennis for 64 still remains on top
For anyone struggling at the beginning those grinding methods mentioned above work but I prefer using Wallace’s secret shop in the first level. Paying off Scott’s rental fees for those stat boost items costs 500! For a quarter of that money (129 I think) you can buy one bionic arm from Wallace (in his secret shop) and it boosts your strength by 50 (permanently). Buy two and you have maxed your strength stat already. Then go back when you have the cash for the sonic speed one and the rpg one. Honestly tho with the bionic arm it will make your life way easier. But that shop is probably the easiest way to get all your stats to 100. To go snack items are also useful.
Now that people mention it, I definitely would have preferred a Ubisoft released physical version . Bought the digital too because of commenters here saying how long LRG takes. First time buying anything from them. This is worth it tho. The graphic novels, movie, and game are all good, which never happens. Happy to have all versions physical soon enough.
Double dip fur sure. Getting the physical and will probably buy digital while I wait for it. Paul Robertson never gets credit for this game. His animation style is incredible. Watch King of Power 4 Billion %
The boot grab on the European and Japanese cover is inexcusable. Plus it almost looks like the ‘mannequin’ is doing a toe-deo (rodeo off the toes), or at least a really dumped frontside spin grabbing Indy properly between the bindings. NA for me. (Also biased as that’s the version I played and own). Don’t grab boot or tindy (halfway between tail and Indy grab) kids!!
Had a very similar Pokémon experience. Lime green gameboy color and Pokémon red. It was my first console, and I think my parents regretted that decision haha
