I have won 19 times so far.
I made into the top 10 once in 9th
As of now I've won 13 times - all that time of me playing Mario games have been paying off
Number 1 spot is too time consuming. These matches just keep going forever and eventually I just give up because it gets stale.
Just once. I get into the top five fairly often, but those last couple minutes are just tedious. The same levels repeated over and over until someone has bad luck. If those competitors have made it that far there's a fat chance they'll go easily.
I got 3rd place once. I keep dying in stupid ways.
I’ve placed 1st once. A grand tale of adventure and excitement, but it’s too long to tell here so I’ll just save it for another time.
I got first once, but I don’t think the competition was tough that round (I just survived three levels). Before that, 6th was my best rank.
At least you are only against 34 players and not 98!
I'm no great gamer, but I've won several times including three in a row the other day. I think those of us who memorized this game as kids 35 years ago have an unfair advantage.
Now that I’ve gotten first once, I play the game less. 😬
I don't want to toot my own horn too much, but I'm really good at this game I've gotten 1st many times and rarely finish below 3rd. This is probably the only time when I've really excelled at an online competition game.
I think it pretty much comes down to what @MustardYum said...those of us who have had this game memorized for the last 35 years kind of have an advantage.
i've been getting better at the game. not good enough yet to get too 1st place though.
@App Yep exactly this. Got first once.
My highest has been second place.
I win like 25% of the time and I'm almost always in the top 5.
Though I've only played about a dozen games or something. I can only do worlds 1-1 and 1-2 so many times.
@Shadowthrone Same here! It makes me enjoy it more, finally being good at something online haha.
13 times in first place but its getting difficult with cheaters starting to enter matches.
@Clamango
Stuck at second here too.
I've won three times, but I typically finish in the top 10 or top 5. It's been encouraging to me as a gamer who feels his skills have been dulling over the years.
Not yet, but close... Got 2nd twice today
For awhile I could only win in portable mode. Then I realized I didn't have gaming mode turned on on my TV. It's amazing how much reducing input lag helps make games more playable.
Only second multiple times. I gave up on it and just play for fun now.
I've won 1 time but have not played it a ton yet......mostly I avoid the 7000 enemies only to run off a cliff
I played twice. Got 5th my first time, 1st the second. Haven't played since because I'm tired of playing World 1 over and over. They should really make stage progression normal and not have you repeating levels.
Lol, nope. I suck at games like this.
Second a few Times with my 8Bitdo Controller, but only Place 10 and less with the Joycons (once 6).
It is not playable well with Analogue Sticks.
Three so far. Not too bad for an old guy!
Haven't won yet but I get a lot of 2nd and 3rd place. I was so close in my last match but I was in 1-4 and all the enemy spawn in a cramped area became too much.
Done it twice. Not sure how.
I've won 20 times and finished in 2nd probable another 30 times (out of 70 games).
Eu continuo morrendo por engano!
Sitting at about 45% win rate after 88 games.
Two consecutive wins.
I still get thrown off by the physics.
I did it better in Tetris 99. 2nd place is my record there.
20 times, and 4 consecutive. But it's getting more difficult.
I've not seen this anywhere else, so I'll mention it here:
If you've maxed out the timer, stay in one spot and just fire flower oncoming enemies for a long time, the timer starts to go faster (even with over 10 contestants still in the game). When you progress through the level as normal, or as normal as this game gets, the timer goes back to default.
I guess it's an anti spamming measure.
@MustardYum
Those who have completed Lost Levels should do well, as the physics are the same.
@JJtheTexan Old guy here... we've had a lifetime headstart training for this one.
I love this game! I’ve gotten first a couple of times so far. Lately the rounds have been getting harder it seems...people are finding their groove!
Won 17 so far! It's the 80s kids time to shine online! Finally!
I have dozens of wins. For those talking about playing 1-1 and 1-2 over and over, have you played in the past few days? Those stages still show up, but the later stages are appearing way more often. As long as you last past a few stages, you’ll likely start seeing them.
@LinktotheFuture is it just me or are the average switch owner much worse at mario than one would think lol
I've won at least four games myself.
Maybe it's just me, but I seem to have better chances here winning than I could in Tetris 99...
Got six wins so far. Feels good man
I've downloaded the game but not played it yet, hmmm, what should I vote?
I've won 36 games so far. I even made a cool montage featuring twenty of my victories.

Twice 😊 love it
I have 11 wins
3 wins, quite a few top 3.
@Ghostchip It is funny how almost every match has someone die instantly.
Not yet, but I came second once.
@Kabloop Second still makes you a badass. Besting 33 others is no mean feat.
I have got 1st many times but lately have found matches lasting a lot longer! I had several go on for over 20minutes yesterday! It is nice that the later levels are appearing more now as I was so bored of world 1 and 2 non-stop.
Hammer bros and bullet bills flying about with goombas and koopas strutting along is hilarious! Then through in the cheep cheeps and squids it makes for one hell of a ride!
I won one time. But I really feel they need to fix the "end game". I think it took 5-10 minutes for the last three players to come to an end. This definitely needs to be speed up.
Not only did I win, I beat Jesus.

I've won once in 35-player and once in Special Battle. But I voted that have won once.
My average rank is 5th
I currently have 19 wins, with a longest streak of 4 consecutive wins. I'm a fan of platformers so it's nice to have a battle royale game in the genre.
Some of the above excuses as to why you have not won yet is just ridiculous You do have options to direct yourselves towards certain courses, which is actually part of the strategy. Could it be that the everyday person just isn't good enough at playing Mario? It is a skilled platformer, so nothing to feel beaten up about.
I got the first place on my third try and haven't played it since. Didn't really appeal to me like Tetris 99 did.
I placed 4th on my first game, got 1st a few games after that, and ever since then it's been a fluctuation. Sometimes I get below 4, sometimes I get 1st, yeah. So, "multiple times."
top 10 a few times. 7th the highest once.
hoh boy....
Made top 5 few times but 2and is closest I've come.
Five or six wins so far.
Won shortly after it came out but it's getting harder now.
From 5 left to around 3 left is probably the most fun part of the game, top 2 can be pretty painful as it's basically just a war of attrition.
Not played too much, but I found this a lot easier than Tetris 99. I think I have won more than I have lost so far. Being the last 2 or 3 is incredibly boring though, as it takes forever for someone to be knocked out. I am always tempted to throw the match just so that something happens and I can move on to another match.
I've won 12 times total, but the other day I got 6 wins in a row - which I was pretty pleased with!
The following consistently works for me:
1-1 - get all flowers, get the 1-up mushroom, get the star and run to end, hit the multi coin blocks end level with 40 coins and approx 80 seconds on clock.
1-2 - get all flowers, jump on the goombas stuck inbetween the pillars (and try to high jump between then if I'm lucky!), use a turtle to take out all the goombas, go down pipe for extra coins, go to warp zone and always choose 1-1 first choice, 1-2 second choice.
The game will throw up other levels at random, including other choices at warp zone, but if I always do the above1-1 1-2 combo when it's an option to, I soon rack up 400 seconds and a good 150-200 coins.
This gives you plenty of time to navigate harder levels, and plenty of coins to replace power ups.
Now I've come 1st I'm retiring! #mario35 #1st #supermariobros
I got 1st once but I'm not playing it as often as it seems most are. The game is definitely fun and and I'm very impressed with it. However, for whatever reason it's not "hooking" me like it's doing to most of you. I play it and do have a good time but it's very easy for me to get a few games in and then want to play something else. It doesn't grab me like Tetris 99 does. I'm all over Tetris 99, have almost 20 wins and can play that for a long time.
I think to me its a matter of the action. Tetris 99 really gets me engaged especially as you get badges and the competition gets very fierce. SMB35 can be similar but not as much. Sometimes I noticed it gets a little repetitive playing the same 2-3 levels over and over until someone makes a bone head mistake. I guess its like how I am in casinos. I love to play blackjack over slot machines because of the action. You put money in a machine and push a button. Meh to me. With live blackjack it gets me really going between the dealer, the cards on table and especially who else is at the table playing with you. Love that action.
I won 4 times even tho I don't like the original SMB. This game is fun when you think of strategies like "Oh I'm on 1-2 Let's go to the warp zone to then go back to 1-1 to just play it safe" or "Oh it's 1-2 let's take a risk and go to a harder stage like 1-4 to get a Bowser for some KOs!" that's the most fun part of this game.
Maybe 6 times? I come 2nd and 3rd a lot more!
Didn't have my pro controller handy when I gave this a shot the other day, AND I'm pretty rusty in regards to the original, so I haven't won yet, but I'm going to!!
I've won quite a few times. It's a cool feeling since I could never win at Tetris 99.
It's not for me, but I've enjoyed watching SMB35 gameplay.
I keep forgetting to download it, despite watching multiple Kosmic videos about it
@nocdaes The warp zone in 1-2 isn't actually random. So there is some strategy.
To start the level you vote gets thrown it some sort of a queue. The orders of the levels are pre chosen.
If you take the flagpole exit in 1-2, you got to the next level in your queue.
And for the warp zone the right most pipe skips one level in your queue, the middle pipe skips two levels, and the left most pipe skips three levels!
This is especially helpful if you are trying to unlock all the levels. Keep choosing level 1-2 in the warp area until the level you choose pops up as one of the choices!
I played until I won once, and then I stopped because I didn't want to take victories from other people.
I won a game on there today.
It took me awhile to win one. I have had several 2nd place finishes. Most games I make top ten if not top 5. My suggestion when you are out watch the people still playing my help.
@Skid Good knowledge on the warp zone, thanks for sharing that. It's still random, but the three choices does add some strategy for sure.
Ever the bridesmaid here! I've been in the top 5 a few times, but never higher than 2nd place. My old SMB reflexes from the 80s aren't what they used to be.
I've gotten 3rd a few times, but will have to keep trying harder I guess
@LinktotheFuture that 1 1 goomba has slaughtered the masses lol
No, but I got 3rd once.
Won my 6th game on opening night. Haven't played it much past that first weekend.
I win pretty consistently, but my main goal is to keep unlocking levels, which I find the level I pick hardly shows up.
I agree with those who say some matches are too long. Yes, eventually time starts ticking down extremely fast eventually forcing someone to lose but in my opinion that could start happening sooner. Perhaps even during the final five, getting faster with each elimination. Still a very fun game though.
i must have played it 200 times so far and only got second place twice
I've gotten 1st place three times. I enjoy this game and I suspect that Nintendo will release more content (dlc), in the not too distant. Keepin it fresh.
@gokev13 Yea, when you consider 35 people select a level at the start, and the average game lasts maybe 12 stages, it's a bit of a silly system at present as at least half of people's level choices don't come up.
@nocdaes
I think if the level pool was limited to what the remaining players picked that might help with shortening the length of rounds since the better players probably would be picking harder levels putting the pressure on as the round progresses. Though that system would have cons as well. I do tend to focus on getting the warp zones to give a better chance of my level showing up but it rarely seems to work.
Looks like I'm up to 47 wins so far. I love it, I liked Tetris but could never win, but Super Mario Bros. is my kind of game.
