Last week, Nintendo revealed the Switch was the best-selling console of November 2020 in the US - making it the best-selling console for 24 consecutive months. During this time it sold a whopping 1.35 million units.
Obviously, America isn't the only country where the Switch is absolutely killing it, in terms of sales. The NPD Group, which tracks video game sales, has revealed the combined sales of Switch and Switch Lites in Canada during the month of November reached over 148,000 units.
The Switch achieved another milestone as a result of this - making it the best-selling video game console in Canada for the 25th consecutive month. This continues its record-breaking run! So far this year, the Switch has sold more than 790,000 units in this location, surpassing 2019's sales by over 162,000 units.
Here's what Nintendo of Canada's General Manager, Dominic Gross, had to say about this milestone:
“We are pleased that fans of all ages throughout Canada are playing Nintendo Switch and enjoying the versatility of the system. Whether it is playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe together or connecting online with friends and family to share island creations in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game, Nintendo Switch offers something for everyone and we hope it creates many happy memories this holiday season and beyond.”

Nintendo won't be satisfied until every moose has its own Switch.
@Heavyarms55 I wake up every morning thankful I was lucky enough to be born in the USA.
25 consecutive Switch months? Canada knows where it's at!
Canadian here. Feels good, man.
If either Sony or MS previous console had sold what the Wii U did, good chance they wouldn’t be in the console business now. It could basically be said of most non-conglomerate tech companies as well. Look at Blackberry after they had a bad run. That’s normal. The rally back Nintendo’s had is something most analysts would bet against — and did. So it is indeed something impressive in itself.
I won’t have Americans come into this comment section and gum up our proud Canadian achievement with their bickering and fighting. Be polite, and respectful. Canada demands it!
Canada is ok
Wow, an article about Canada. Glad to see switch has done so well here. 😊🇨🇦🎮
@itslukec sorry, can’t take some people anywhere.
Seriously though Nintendo has a lot to be proud of (same for its shareholders).
There’s a Nintendo of Canada...??
I'm not surprised. Anyone I've met here who was doubtful about Nintendo and the Switch has changed their tune in the last three years, even if they don't love the company or its games per se. In fact, both Sony and Nintendo are doing pretty well in this country.
Dear limeys,
America is a pair of continents. Not a country or a nation.
Signed,
Canada, México, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador...
@JHDK Bruce Springsteen said it all about people like you.
@COVIDberry
Dear Yanks/Canucks
The UK is not just England.
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland also say hello.
Signed
All 4 countries in the UK
😉
p.s just so as not to offend anyone, this was merely meant as gentle humour and not an insult to anyone, just in case anyone takes it the wrong way
@GuruOfGreatness Haha, I know that well. I run into Scottish and Irish accents as well as English accents here. NL is based in England, though.
That's because Canadians are smart.
2nd biggest country in the world and it's empty. There are 15 million more people just in England than there are in Canada. That's why we live in terrace houses and flats and they have a whole square mile to build on.
Your Canada facts today were bought to you by a Brummie who once shagged a Canadian girl.
Don't think that Canadians have good taste though, as a large number of them voted for Justin Trudeau
@itslukec So buying up a particular product like the Switch in bulk is an achievement? You're saying that like you're the only country on Earth that finally did that accomplishment when other countries had already done it many times over. Also you are an American as well despite living in a differently name country, why keep fighting among yourselves. The only difference is that you lived up north and we lived down south, that is all.
@Retro_Player_77 a can name a couple other differences than living a little more north of you guys haha.
Considering that it costs over $700 CAD to buy either the PS5 or Xbox Series X. It comes as no surprise to see Nintendo rule as the system and games are cheaper then the others.
@KillerBOB Ontario voted Ford, so... 🤮
Annual Switch hardware sales in Canada:
> 2017: ~400,000
> 2018: ~550,000
> 2019: ~630,000
> 2020: ~790,000 (excluding Dec)
Total: ~2.37 million
The Switch has outsold the 3DS and XBO in Canada.
@KillerBOB After nearly a decade of cons crushing the working class. We finally got miminum wage increases after a decade, and some grant assistance for post secondary education. Both are neoliberal corporatists at heart, just cons are worse. Can't wait till Ford and Trudeau are gone. 🤮
