@ok1 Yes, however that only shows limited information for the most recently played titles. That I know of on Switch, you can't look back at activity from previous days, you can't see time played down to the minute for all titles, average play time, times played, etc. The 3DS logged all of that, and you could view it any time.
See, they obviously have access to all this info so I don't know why they can't let us have access to it like the 3DS. Ah well...since we're all posting our shame here:
1205 hours

Games starring Mario: 8
Most active day: Saturday December 12th
Most played games by hours:
1. Animal Crossing New Horizons
2. Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 (Don't ask. No, I'm kidding, you can ask.)
3. Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection
4. Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus (as a result of trying to 100% both timelines just this last weekend and the weekend before that).
I'm gonna continue on getting 100% on my Wolfenstein 2 save files. It's quite a tedious process. I have to do one run to get all the collectibles, of which there are a ton, and max out my perks. Then I have to do another run to create a save at the start of each mission with full ammo, grenades, hatchets, and armor. Three of the perks prevent me from doing it my first time through because they affect how much ammo, grenades, and hatchets you can carry. For my final run, I'm gonna try maxing out those three perks and starting over instead of doing a full run to max them out and getting all collectibles and then starting over. All of this because Wolfenstein 2 doesn't have a simple level select for some reason. And I'm doing it for both timelines in the game on both Switch and PS4. Completed the Switch version last night though so all I have to work on now is the PS4 version. After that, I'm gonna 100% Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and Wolfenstein: The New Order on PS4. Probably will then try to 100% Youngblood after all of that.
"Whipping out your rod in New Horizons immediately ups the game's tension quota"
...Might wanna rephrase that.
I've got all the fossils, fish, and bugs, but I still see myself playing this game for the lifespan of the Switch. Always love just dropping in for a few minutes. I'd like to undertake some bigger projects with my town too at some point.
I didn't watch the presentation so I didn't realize they did a Mii costume for Geno again. Hey, I'll take it! I always have fun assigning custom specials and trying to get as close to the source material as I can.
I had 10 HP left on Very Hard to his > 100. Aaaand I got lucky and aether spiked him as Ike. That felt darn satisfying and on my first attempt too. ๐
Now that's a lot of fixes. I once had a bug where when I went in to the pause menu, all I could do from there was unpause. Couldn't move the menu cursor. Hope that either gets fixed or was just rare.
Edit: after trying this patch out, I'm really glad they added the motion blur option. The game looks much better without it since the effect is so severe when it's enabled. It's odd because I actually thought motion blur made Doom 2016 on Switch look better which is why I thought it was odd that Doom Eternal on Switch had no motion blur. But here? Nah, it looks way better turned off to me...
@LillianC14 Sounds like some kind of crazy passcode.
Excellent timing! At Thanksgiving, I played DKC2 with my brother, and we wanted to play 3 also. Now we can at Christmas!
I don't know anything about the other titles, but I'm glad they're adding a good many this time. It's nice when they give more obscure titles a chance.
I'm hoping at some point we'll get Earthbound, Earthbound Beginnings, Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario RPG.
For me it's Animal Crossing and Doom Eternal. Can't say I really played much else that came out on Switch this year. I'd like to try Hades at some point though.
Oh and while they're not technically new releases, I'm Mega hyped for the Bit Trip games in a couple of weeks.
I've kinda put Mario on hold for a bit. Last weekend I 100%ed my ultra-violence and nightmare save files on Doom 2016 on both PS4 and Switch. Then I 100%ed Doom Eternal on Switch over the week (except for one single combat encounter point on Arc Complex which is currently bugged and needs to be patched because you can't finish the encounter properly). With those done now, I'll be working on doing the same with Wolfenstein 2 this weekend. Gonna find all the collectibles on my Fergus timeline file and then do it again for my Wyatt timeline file.
@Arkay @RiasGremory Yessssss, Doomslayer. Doom Eternal alone has me wildly thinking up moves for him. Like how his shotgun meathook could be used as a tether grab and an up special recovery. It could also be his side special where it would pull him toward another fighter and allow him several options out of it like firing the shotgun or a different gun or just hitting them with a punch!
Also all his specials could revolve around his different guns which each have their own ammo pools. When you run out, you use his neutral special, the chainsaw, to get back more ammo!
Holding down B for different lengths of time on each of his specials could also use different mods!
His throws could use some of his glory kill animations (including his wrist mounted blade)
His smash attacks could use the crucible blade...
They could even do stuff with his grenades, freeze bombs, and flame belch. It's a treasure trove of potential!
@PhilKenSebben Long HDMI does sound like a good option! Or just set it up close to my TV. At some point once I've finished saving for a house down payment and moved into a house, I want to set up a home theater system to watch movies as well. Might use the TV sometimes unless I'm playing something that sort of demands a mouse.
@RunninBlue There's also a capture mechanic where you can capture enemy soldiers. I'm not sure what you can do beyond that (maybe convince them to join you?) Don't believe that mechanic has ever returned.
Not sure if enemies can capture your units too or not.
@ChaosBadger777 Probably right unfortunately. Though I'd also guess that an architecture change from an IBM processor to Nvidia's Tegra chip and a media change from discs to cartridges were other reasons for the loss of backwards compatibility.
It really would be great though if Nintendo kept this format going forward and allowed you to just transfer your games to each new version of the Switch. They sort of unified their home and handheld consoles into what I see as the perfect system that just needs to be upgraded with better hardware every few years, so it'll be annoying to me if they just change systems entirely at some point and have no backwards compatibility. Though with these sales numbers I think some form of the Switch is going to be around for a while whether its the current model or an upgrade.
@contractcooker No worries, I love games too. I've just recently started thinking about backwards compatibility and hardware obsolescence because I've spent a lot of time 100%ing some of my favorite games on PS4 and Switch (Doom, Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein 2 for instance) so I can enjoy playing them with everything unlocked. But then I started wondering if it was worth putting the time in on platforms that are gonna be replaced down the line.
With how much more I seem to enjoy games on my Switch vs PS4 though (even the big ones like I mentioned above), I'm hoping Nintendo just keeps iterating on the Switch and doesn't eventually replace it with something that has no backwards compatibility. That may be a pipe dream though.
@TG16_IS_BAE Thanks, I'll give that a look when the time comes for me to start buying parts!
@TG16_IS_BAE I mostly started wanting to build a PC after seeing PC gameplay of Doom Eternal and realizing how much of a hindrance dual stick gameplay can be in a shooter mostly designed for a mouse and keyboard. Experiencing gyro aiming on the Switch actually made it even harder for me to enjoy shooters on PS4. There's also the fact that I'm kind of tired of my graphics and frame rates being limited to what the consoles can do. Huge support for older games is also another big plus.
But on the other hand like @contractcooker was saying, I think I'd miss sitting on my couch with a controller and playing on a big TV screen. In the end, I'm probably still going with PC, but it will be an adjustment I have to make I guess.
@rallydefault I'm the same way. Got way too much to play on Switch and PS4 to be concerned with next gen consoles. In fact I'm getting to a point where I'm seeing my older hardware, which used to be current, ageing and I wonder if I'll still be able to play some of my current favorite games years down the line. Consoles kind of become less attractive to me in that light. Thinking maybe I'll build a PC instead at some point since the backwards compatibility is way more robust and you can keep upgrading them for a while.
I'm just wishing I could play more of it instead of having to work.
Also, with games like this, does anybody else like just blitzing through on the easiest difficulty, unlocking all upgrades and optional collectibles, and then playing on the harder difficulties once you have all the upgrades? I've found myself doing that a lot with like this and Sniper Elite 4. It allows me to quickly unlock everything that has a bearing on gameplay and then enjoy the game at its toughest difficulty with my character fully armed. I also already played through on nightmare on PS4 so I don't feel too bad playing on the easiest difficulty. I'll probably do a proper from scratch nightmare playthrough of this on Switch later on down the line.
@RunninBlue Genealogy of the Holy War or Thracia 776? I've played a bit of both (more Genealogy than Thracia). There aren't many chapters, but the maps are huge and can take a while to finish. I don't think the series has had maps as big as that since. It was really fun though.
I'm currently on mission 2, Exultia, and I'm loving it. It's very smooth considering the hardware. My only initial concern was that cutscenes appear to be 20 FPS and honestly look kinda bad, but you don't play Doom for the cutscenes now do you? Gameplay is always 30 so far. I'm hoping they add in a motion blur option as I feel it makes some 30 FPS games look a bit smoother. The motion aiming is excellent as expected.
I'm playing it right now while I wait for my laptop to update before work. It's really solid so far on just the first mission. One weird exclusion is the absence of a motion blur option. I felt that option in Doom 2016 helped smooth out the 30 FPS, but wasn't necessary on other platforms with 60. I'm really enjoying it though.
I'm currently trying to 100% my Doom 2016 Nightmare save file on Switch ahead of Doom Eternal. I 100%ed my Eternal save file on PS4 way back when it came out, and I plan to do it again on Switch. Just want to max out my Doom 2016 save files first.
Aside from that, I'm continuing my marathon. Skipped the rest of Color Splash for the time being since my brother and I are going to continue it at Christmas and hopefully do Origami King as well. Already did Mario Run so now I'm on Mario + Rabbids.

Fire Emblem and John Wick Hex for me! Nice little strategy week. I also plan on pre-ordering Doom Eternal if it's added to the shop in today's update. I haven't seen it yet in the coming soon section.
I guess my game of the year would be Animal Crossing. I haven't given it a lot of thought. Haven't played a lot of new games this year besides that and Doom Eternal.
@TheFullAndy Just curious what you found disappointing about Doom Eternal? I personally enjoyed it though I think 2016 was the better game. I wasn't crazy about how it forced you into a very rigid combat loop whereas most Doom games give you the freedom to use whichever weapons you please at any given moment.
@dkxcalibur Well I hope I don't regret my purchase because I got the Borderlands collection 50% off. I love a good sale and just about any first or third person shooters on Switch...
God I wish 2K would bring over Spec Ops: The Line. I could get it for PS3, but I'd much prefer it on Switch.
@dkxcalibur Is it possible you meant to say Borderlands in one of those two paragraphs? Because it looks like you're saying you love Bioshock and then saying you don't which is messing with my head. ๐
You could play this game for thousands of hours, and honestly I wish I had the time to. I've beaten standard mode a couple of times, but never 1 boss cell yet. I'm starting to think maybe I'll get back into this game when they're done updating it, though that could be a while.

Also all his specials could revolve around his different guns which each have their own ammo pools. When you run out, you use his neutral special, the chainsaw, to get back more ammo!

Re: Review: John Wick Hex - Stylish Turn-Based Action With Too Many Rough Edges
I'd heard generally positive things on other platforms, and I love the movies so I got it pretty much as soon as it was available. Hope I can enjoy it despite the flaws!
Re: Video: Tennis Legend Serena Williams Stars In Nintendo's Latest Round Of Switch TV Spots
@CammyUnofficial Haha, Arnie-mal Crossing. ๐ I'd go for that too.
Re: Video: Tennis Legend Serena Williams Stars In Nintendo's Latest Round Of Switch TV Spots
Next we need someone like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Sylvester Stallone playing Doom Eternal.
Or heck, Dwayne Johnson seeing as he was in a Doom movie.

Jenny LeClue is my pick.

It's the wrong trousers! And they've gone wrong!
Re: Nintendo Download: 3rd December (North America)
Fire Emblem and John Wick Hex for me! Nice little strategy week. I also plan on pre-ordering Doom Eternal if it's added to the shop in today's update. I haven't seen it yet in the coming soon section.
Re: Game Awards "Player's Voice" Nominations Now Open
@TheFullAndy Oh yeah, I also hated the swimming sections. And the purple sludge that slows you down. Because Doom really needed to be slowed down.
Re: Game Awards Players Voice Nominations Now Open
I guess my game of the year would be Animal Crossing. I haven't given it a lot of thought. Haven't played a lot of new games this year besides that and Doom Eternal.
@TheFullAndy Just curious what you found disappointing about Doom Eternal? I personally enjoyed it though I think 2016 was the better game. I wasn't crazy about how it forced you into a very rigid combat loop whereas most Doom games give you the freedom to use whichever weapons you please at any given moment.
Re: 2K Black Friday Sale Discounts BioShock, Borderlands, WWE And More On Switch (North America)
Re: 2K Black Friday Sale Discounts BioShock, Borderlands, WWE And More On Switch (North America)
@dkxcalibur Is it possible you meant to say Borderlands in one of those two paragraphs? Because it looks like you're saying you love Bioshock and then saying you don't which is messing with my head. ๐
Re: Dead Cells Unveils Second Major DLC Expansion โFatal Fallsโ
You could play this game for thousands of hours, and honestly I wish I had the time to. I've beaten standard mode a couple of times, but never 1 boss cell yet. I'm starting to think maybe I'll get back into this game when they're done updating it, though that could be a while.

My 1 TB SD card is ready.
