Re: Video: 11 Exciting New Games Coming To Nintendo Switch In December

Giygas_95

I'm quite excited for December between Doom Eternal and the Bit Trip games. The Bit Trip series is just about as close to perfect as I think any series of games can be. Those games are art without a doubt. Played the heck out of them on Wii and 3DS, and I'll gladly revisit them on Switch. Core is my favorite game in the series. Something about the rhythm of the songs and the accompanying backgrounds is just mesmerizing to me. Freaking love the songs in stage 2 (Exploration) and stage 3 (Control) of Core. I love Void too. Very abstract and surreal but also very addictive. Anybody else a Bit Trip junkie like me?

The developers also hinted on Twitter that Runner 2 is coming (said "Stay tuned" when asked about it). Hope it's not far behind.

I'm also grabbing Fire Emblem in the hopes that we get more games localized. I'd love it if we ended up getting the Jugdral games and Binding Blade localized.

Oh and then there's John Wick Hex. I love the films, and I've heard Hex is a pretty fun game. I do enjoy strategy games, so I'll give it a look.

Re: Feature: DOOM Eternal Finally Gets A Switch Release Date - We Speak To Port Wizards Panic Button

Giygas_95

It may have taken a while, but the fact this is now releasing in just about a week's time has me really excited. I didn't think Eternal was as good as Doom 2016, but I enjoyed it all the same. I really hope this has gyro aiming from the get-go because I think that would fix a big issue I had with the PS4 version where I felt like I was being hampered by a dual stick control scheme for a game that was so fast paced it almost demanded the precision of a mouse (one reason I'd like to build a PC this gen instead of getting a PS5).

@SMUGSLOTH69 Time to invest in a 1 TB micro SD card. 😉

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 28th)

Giygas_95

Posting this rather late since I've been away from my normal routine due to Thanksgiving. I finally finished Mario and Luigi Paper Jam for my Mario Marathon. Easily my least favorite game in the lineup so far. It just bored me so badly, and I'm sure playing it directly after Dream Team didn't help. I actually looked back at these logs I've been making weekly, and I started Dream Team on October 24th and finished Paper Jam on November 24th. Took me a month on just those two games...Thankfully I'm on to Color Splash now which I've been playing with my brother over the Thanksgiving break and enjoying a lot.

It's funny how Color Splash and Origami King are really the games that are responsible for me deciding to do this marathon. I wanted to try Origami King, but I had originally skipped Color Splash. I hated to skip an entry in the series, so I got it. Then I played a bit of it but decided I wanted to replay all the Paper Mario games. Replayed Paper Mario but then wished I had just done a complete Mario RPG marathon. From there I thought "Why not just marathon the entire series of platformers and RPGs?" So I started in my own presumed chronological order with Yoshi's Island and worked my way back through. Been working on this since about the tail end of July or the very first day of August. It's insane how far I've come.

After this it's just Super Mario Run, Mario + Rabbids, Captain Toad, Mario Odyssey, Luigi's Mansion 3, and then Origami King.

Re: How Well Do You Know Zelda: Breath Of The Wild?

Giygas_95

@dartmonkey Oh, no problem, I'm just a stickler for details. I wish it had no cool down time, but I guess that would make other weapons sort of useless.

Although, you can just enter and exit the trial of the sword to recharge it. Takes about 1 minute as opposed to 10.

Re: How Well Do You Know Zelda: Breath Of The Wild?

Giygas_95

Accompanying text to the last question once you've answered it says the fully upgraded Master Sword is unbreakable with no cool down time. That ain't the case. It just takes about 200 strikes before it needs to recharge.

Small detail, but it was bothering me.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 21st)

Giygas_95

I've been taking a break from Mario, but I'm gonna try to continue my marathon with Paper Jam. Not particularly enjoying the game, but I want to finish it because the next game is Color Splash, and my brother and I were gonna try to play together it over Thanksgiving. Color Splash together with Origami King is kind of the reason I started this whole Mario Marathon in the first place.

Other than that, I'll probably take some breaks with Sniper Elite 4, Pure Pool, and Animal Crossing.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 14th)

Giygas_95

In my Mario marathon I haven't really moved much since last weekend...not really enjoying Paper Jam to be honest. I just find it to be extremely uninteresting unlike the four games that precede it.

I'll probably mostly be getting achievements and leveling up in Sniper Elite 3 ahead of 4 releasing on Switch. I'm really excited to have 4 on this system.

Also, not a video game, but I'm planning on watching Blade Runner for the first time. Heard great things about it.

Re: Nintendo Download: 12th November (North America)

Giygas_95

I already have Sniper Elite 4 Deluxe Edition preloaded and can't wait to play it. Love that game.

I love fast paced first person shooters too so I may see if the Serious Sam Collection is worth getting.

I'm kind of interested in Pure Pool also. I enjoyed Pool in Wii Play.

Re: Poll: Which Will Be Your Second Console - PS5 Or Xbox Series X?

Giygas_95

Honestly I'm tired of having my AAA games limited by what consoles can do so for the first time I'm not planning on getting a console (except for Nintendo). I'm planning on building a PC next generation. Though with how many games I have yet to finish on Switch and PS4, I could go a long time without buying a new system.

Normally I'd say PS5, but I'd at the very least wait for something like a Pro model when there are a lot more games to play. Plus the only PS exclusive I have any interest in is God of War, which...I can't really justify a whole console for just that one game.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 7th)

Giygas_95

Just this last Wednesday I finally finished Dream Team after slogging it out for more than two weeks. I really enjoyed playing it again, but the game honestly had too much padding. Took me longer to finish than any other game in this marathon so far. Actually Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door and Dream Team both took about 30 hours, but with Paper Mario I did that entirely within Labor Day weekend instead of dragging it out over weeks. At least I really enjoyed both games though. From then until Friday evening I did a quick run through of Super Mario 3D World (didn't 100% since it's coming to Switch).

Now I'm on Mario and Luigi Paper Jam. This is a bit of a landmark for me because it's the first game in this marathon I've never played. So far the game feels a bit weird to me for some reason... possibly because it's the only Mario and Luigi game that I didn't play when it first came out so it's unfamiliar to me.

I'm also playing a game I found on sale called Jenny LeClue. It's kind of like Night in the Woods with some detective elements. I like it!

Re: Crysis Remastered On Switch Updated To Version 1.5.0, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

Giygas_95

After downloading this update I still had a crash and an instance where when I paused the game, I couldn't move the menu cursor. Game probably still needs some more bug fixes, but so far I'm loving it. I'm on the second mission, and I really enjoy sneaking around cloaked and doing stealth kills. I also love how Delta difficulty really forces you to play carefully and use your suit's abilities to maximum efficiency.

Re: Talking Point: What's Your Comfort Food Game?

Giygas_95

Super Mario 3D Land and Animal Crossing are mine. Also believe it or not, games like Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and Ghost Recon Future Soldier where I get to sneak around.

@Rykachu I'm sorry to hear all of that. I hope it turns around for you soon.

Re: Soapbox: An Ode To The 3DS, Nintendo's Workhorse Console

Giygas_95

Super Mario 3D Land may well be my favorite Mario game...after Galaxy 2 anyway. It has so many incredibly fun levels. There's so many other fantastic games on the console too.

I'm playing Mario and Luigi Dream Team right now and having a fantastic time. Currently in Somnom Woods. The music is gorgeous. So is the 3D effect. I wish glasses free 3D had kept being a Nintendo thing into the future...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 31st)

Giygas_95

Last weekend I largely took a break from Mario and played Sniper Elite 4. I love that game and can't wait to get it on Switch. This weekend however, I'm focusing on finishing up Dream Team. It's a good game with fantastic music and art direction, but it doesn't know the meaning of the word "brevity". Everything in the game takes far too long to do. I hope Paper Jam isn't as padded out as Dream Team is.

I also grabbed some spooky games on sale including Carrion, and I played through probably 75% of that yesterday. I'll probably finish it today. I was really enjoying it.

Since it's Halloween, I'm also thinking I may watch The Thing and its prequel for the first time. That monster is terrifying.

Re: Evidence Of Resident Evil 3: Cloud Version For Nintendo Switch Seemingly Uncovered

Giygas_95

@Dm9982 Nope, I'm very much offline single player only. By the way I deleted my first comment right before you replied because I just didn't like it. Question though, you said "I have about 600gb of digital games on switch and if I don’t connect once a week to the internet then I can’t play em, so eh whatever." Is this some DRM thing I'm unaware of? I didn't think the Switch required you to connect to the internet at least once a week to play downloaded games you already paid for...I thought that was only a thing with the NES and SNES apps.

Re: Review: Pikmin 3 Deluxe - Perhaps Not Worth A Double Dip, But The Choice Pick For New Players

Giygas_95

"Pikmin 2 went in the completely opposite direction, and maybe gave a bit too much freedom as a result: with unlimited days and large caves where time didn’t pass, any sense of tension was completely gone."

I'm gonna have to disagree there...some of those longer caves got freaking intense with the amount of floors and angry critters out to get you.

I'm looking forward to this though as I only played through the original once. I'm also gonna replay the first two via the Wii releases of them.
