Motion Twin and Evil Empire have announced a major new update headed to Dead Cells called Fatal Falls.
Fatal Falls is the 22nd – yes, 22nd – update the game has received, but only the second paid DLC expansion. Bigger than your usual Dead Cells update, Fatal Falls promises "a significant amount of new content for fans" and will be available early next year for $4.99.
Here's what's included:
Two entirely new biomes, The Fractured Shrines and The Undying Shores, as well as a new boss are parallels to the ‘Stilt Village’, ‘Clock Tower’ and ‘Time Keeper’ areas and their alternate paths. These additions will provide significant new options for fans looking for middle-run exploration and are brimming with new ways to succumb to a terribly painful death. The update is also dropping a cache of new weapons, details of which will be revealed soon.
Anyone who played through the game's The Bad Seed DLC earlier this year should have a decent grasp of just how much content we're talking about here – that expansion also launched for the same price of $4.99.
The news arrives just as Dead Cells reaches a new milestone of 3.5 million worldwide sales. Fatal Falls will be available on Steam and consoles when it launches next year, including Switch.

I got this game nearly two years ago, and keep on coming back to it every now and then. I've beaten the game once and am on 1 Boss Cell, and it's already immensely difficult. The game has more than enough content and they still continue to add lots of free DLC and very expansive packs for a cheap price. I can't praise this game enough, and would strongly recommend it to anyone!
You could play this game for thousands of hours, and honestly I wish I had the time to. I've beaten standard mode a couple of times, but never 1 boss cell yet. I'm starting to think maybe I'll get back into this game when they're done updating it, though that could be a while.
So I’d assume that eventually they’ll release a third physical edition which includes all the DLC (again)
I can't quit this game. I love it so much.
This and Tetris 99 are my evergreen titles on the Switch. Recently conquered 1BC and then went to Hades, which has become the new addiction. Will wishlist this DLC.
The indie that keeps on giving. Will grab the DLC day 1, no doubt.
Seeing as they keep repacking the game and selling it physical with DLC, I ALMOST bought it the other day. Glad I didn’t. I’ll wait for the next repackage lol
Favourite game on the switch
I just got my GOTY physical version (just like I did with cadence of hyrule).. normally would be better to have THE FINAL version.. but I don't mind and probably I'll pay the newest DLC. let's see who wins the context, hollow knight or dead cells!! hihi
I've put 100's of hours between the PS4 and Switch versions, easily one of my favourite games so i shell happily buy this for both versions as they deserve it.
This was a PS+ title a couple months back, and after watching my friend play it and being completely entranced, I picked it up full price in the eShop (which is something my frugal ass rarely does)
I'm on 2BC and haven't been able to progress much further, and my interest has waned. I'm currently in the long grind to 100% Hyrule Warriors, so its good to know that I'll have something to draw me back into Dead Cells once that's all over with.
(And for those stuck on 1BC, I've had amazing luck with Hotaku's Bow and Oil Grenades paired with a secondary weapon that can spark fires)
I hope that, along with this DLC, they fix the frozen enemy corpse glitch. It's kinda annoying RN
Are they charging for this DLC?
I really hope they are so I can buy it twice and pay these people the money they deserve.
Willing to give them more money they are very generous with there content.
I love when great games get great new content! I myself though haven't played this game yet, so I might need to borrow my brother's copy so I can see what all the fuss is about. I do love the overall presentation of that game from what I have seen my brother play, and various people on the internet.
@Razer Yeah its going to cost a very small amount, i think this is the plan now at charging for one bigger piece of DLC and then using that money to cover tons of free updates and then repeat.
@Oh-Please-Goron The prisoner edition is the third one lol
