Motion Twin and Evil Empire have announced a major new update headed to Dead Cells called Fatal Falls.

Fatal Falls is the 22nd – yes, 22nd – update the game has received, but only the second paid DLC expansion. Bigger than your usual Dead Cells update, Fatal Falls promises "a significant amount of new content for fans" and will be available early next year for $4.99.

Here's what's included:

Two entirely new biomes, The Fractured Shrines and The Undying Shores, as well as a new boss are parallels to the ‘Stilt Village’, ‘Clock Tower’ and ‘Time Keeper’ areas and their alternate paths. These additions will provide significant new options for fans looking for middle-run exploration and are brimming with new ways to succumb to a terribly painful death. The update is also dropping a cache of new weapons, details of which will be revealed soon.

Anyone who played through the game's The Bad Seed DLC earlier this year should have a decent grasp of just how much content we're talking about here – that expansion also launched for the same price of $4.99.

The news arrives just as Dead Cells reaches a new milestone of 3.5 million worldwide sales. Fatal Falls will be available on Steam and consoles when it launches next year, including Switch.
