@sportymariosonicmixx I was committed to the bit, man. Though that's why I just beat the game and didn't go for all 120 stars.
I disagree about the Galaxy games having basic level design, but even so, I can forgive basic level design if the controls are good and make the game fun to play, which Galaxy's controls are much better.
I just don't really jive with 64. I never have really liked most 3D platformers from that era. Same reason I don't care for DK 64, Banjo Kazooie, Banjo Tooie, etc.
@sportymariosonicmixx I've played Mario 64 several times throughout the years, including when I beat the game for a Mario Marathon I did (did not get all 120 stars though). I also got all 150 stars in Mario 64 DS, so I think I can give a reasonable assessment of what I think of it.
The game just never really holds my interest because of pretty basic 3D level design (not the game's fault, it was an early 3D platformer) coupled with controls I find somewhat stiff and an aggravating camera. If you updated the game to look and feel like Odyssey or Galaxy I'm sure I'd like it a lot more. But in its original form, I just don't find it worth the time to play it.
Between 64 and DS, I'd still rather play 64 because the controls are a lot better than in DS. Even still, give me Galaxy 1 and 2, 3D Land and World, or Odyssey over 64 every time.
@batmanbud2 Oh, you'll be happy to know I sing a much different tune these days. Galaxy 2 is like one of my favorite platformers of all time now. I sure wasn't expecting a reply on this website though, I don't even visit here anymore!
@Debo626 No, you definitely not alone! I was remarking last month to my dad about how much I wish we could turn certain items off, but I never thought they'd actually add that. Imagine my surprise when I got on earlier and discovered that feature without knowing it was being added!
Finally...I can say sod off to all blue shells, bloopers, lightning bolts, boos (because nothing is more infuriating than getting an item stolen from you right as you're about to use it to defend yourself from a red or blue shell), and coins
Aw man...Philip's reviews of terrible shovel ware were some of my favorite things in high school and college. I remember one time I found Philip on Miiverse and actually talked to him, and he sent me a friend request. Rest in peace, my good man...
I'll just leave this here. One of his funniest reviews.
I don't know if it's a quirk of the original games or just of this collection, but one thing I wish would get fixed is me getting crushed by things that are moving in the wrong direction to crush you. Like I'll be running under a moving pillar that's moving upwards, and somehow it gets registered as a crush. It's mostly happened in Sonic 3. Very irritating when it does happen.
@benmalsky198 You're definitely not alone. I've never been a diehard Sonic fan, but I do really like the classic games. I wasn't even aware of the negativity before I looked at articles like this. And by that time I'd already put like 45 hours into the collection.
I really haven't been playing much at all this year, but I'll give it to Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. I've loved playing it with my brother.
On the Switch front, I haven't gotten Kirby or Mario Strikers. I have however been playing Sonic 3 and Knuckles in widescreen on my Switch OLED, and I absolutely love it.
Wow, finally! I've been eagerly awaiting this update because it means TAG 1 on the Switch will be the re-buffed version again and not the nerfed one from the TAG 2 update. Also my Satisfye OLED grip should finally arrive soon, so I'll jump into this when that arrives.
It took forever, but I believe the Switch version is finally caught up with the other versions in terms of updates.
@SoapMonki Wow, I wasn't expecting a reply seeing as I don't really come to this site anymore! I'd still love Blacklist, or even a Splinter Cell collection. With the Steam Deck coming though, I'm definitely looking forward to playing the Splinter Cell games on there.
@TKundNobody Dude, I was just asking. I know we aren't the center of the world. I figured it was to support a simultaneous release. Calm down.
Also, to your question about spirit events, Nintendo Life puts out articles about all of those here so you can just come here, and you'll see them when they're upcoming.
And I apologize if it came off like I was crying. I could probably have worded that a bit better. I don't want to get off on the wrong foot. I've been dealing with enough other stuff lately that I'd rather not piss off someone here.
Can someone explain why these patches come out so late for people in the US? When they say it's releasing on say, June 29th, it's kind of annoying when it doesn't release until like 10 PM Eastern time.
This sounds really cool, but I'd like to wait and see if they do manage to fit the trilogy on a single cartridge. Anyone know if that would even be worth it for 2 and 3 though? I've heard the sequels were a bit of a letdown compared to 1.
Well, fellas... it's been a heck of a ride, but it looks like the hype train is pulling in for its final stop. I remember way back when they announced the first fighters pass thinking "Man I really want to know who all these fighters are going to be! This is gonna take forever!"
Well, that's come and gone. Then they announced this pass to run through 2021, and I thought again "this is gonna take forever!"
Here we are already halfway through the year, and the last one is on the horizon. It's been great riding the train with all of y'all. Here's hoping this last character really blows everyone away.
Like others, I'm hoping Doom slayer is the final character, but I would also be happy with Ryu Hayabusa. I remember back when Street Fighter Ryu was rumored, and I was like "The Ninja Gaiden dude?" Because I didn't have any familiarity with Street Fighter. It'd be cool if he did end up getting in.
I might get that Shantae costume just for the music track. More music is always good.
Probably not much for me besides a little Animal Crossing and Doom Eternal while sitting in the car. Heading to Tennessee to see the aquarium for the first time since 2009!
@Tyranexx I hope Nintendo does a restock or there's at least some in store stock on release day. If not, what choice is there gonna be besides going to a scalper? Metroid has been my favorite series basically my entire life. I don't want to miss out on the special edition...but I may just have to settle for the standard. Screw scalpers.
I was on a work trip and was unable to watch the direct. It really frustrates me how when I finally had some free time, pre-orders had already come and gone.
I'm really not good at these types of games, but I don't even care. I love Advance Wars. It's just such a cool little series from one of my favorite eras in video games. I hope Dual Strike and especially Days of Ruin get this remake treatment soon. I really need to play through the Tiny Metal games ahead of this game releasing.
To be honest I'm more excited for Metroid 5 than I ever was for Prime 4. But I want them to get Prime 4 right too so I hope they take all the time they need.
I'm super excited for this. I'm terrible at Advance Wars, but having remakes of two amazing GBA games is fantastic! Just wish Dual Strike and Days of Ruin could have gotten the same treatment. Especially Days of Ruin.
"Metroid Dread is a direct sequel to 2002’s Metroid Fusion and concludes the five-part saga focusing on the strange, interconnected fates of bounty hunter Samus and the Metroids, which kicked off with the original Metroid for NES."
Just reading that gives me massive goosebumps. Especially the part about concluding the five part saga. Holy cow, it really has been almost 20 years since Metroid 4...
I had planned to not spoil myself on this before being able to watch it for myself (busy with work), but I didn't want to wait. Kind of wish I had waited since a new Metroid was revealed. Oh well...I can't believe we're finally getting the sequel to Fusion!
I'm actually very intrigued by this. I do enjoy a good story and voice acting, and it sounds like this delivers. @GalacticBreakdown Agreed. I thought we had reached a point where we don't care as long as nobody is hurting anybody else.
I've been playing an unhealthy amount of DOOM Eternal so probably more of that. I've been trying to polish off the challenges in Superhot, but the speedrun, realtime speedrun, and no restart challenges keep killing me. Might also start on the Ninja Gaiden games. They look really fun! More Animal Crossing too as always.

Now reflex based games on the other hand... platformers are and always have been my bread and butter. Shooters too to a somewhat lesser extent. Lately I've gotten good enough at Doom Eternal to the point that I've been quick scoping the turret off of an arachnotron at a distance and doing the same to both of the Mancubus's cannons in quick succession with no crosshair. Arenas that I used to think were almost impossible I now just blow through like they're nothing. I've even gotten to where I can beat some of the TAG 1 levels on Nightmare difficulty (still haven't beaten The Holt on Nightmare yet). I love games like that and Furi that really test my reflexes. Rhythm based games too. One of my favorites of all time is Bit Trip Core, and it's extremely satisfying when you get the hang of it. So...basically I'm a lot better at reflex based stuff than I am at thinking.
@Maxz I really gotta start Celeste...I've had it on Switch forever and heard nothing but praise for it. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Sunday night and forgot to do this...I spent most of my weekend doing challenge levels in Superhot. I also started to work on some other flower hybrids in Animal Crossing now that I've made blue roses. Played some Doom Eternal too of course.

@chipia It's gotten better. Patches have improved the stability a good bit, and I think they added gyro aiming post launch (I don't remember it being there at launch, but maybe I'm wrong). They also added some graphical options. Here's an example of one patch they did. https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2020/12/crysis_remastered_update_1_6_patch_notes_-_switch_bug_fixes_and_a_docked_resolution_boost

I'm super excited for Metroid Dread, Advance Wars, Wario Ware, and Skyward Sword HD.
I'm also a bit interested in Outer Wilds and Sonic Colors Ultimate.
Re: Talking Point: Our Favourites From E3 2021
Metroid and Advance Wars of course. I'm super excited about both. Also Wario Ware. Those games are always a lot of fun (Snapped not withstanding...)

"Master, your joycons appear to be drifting. Would you like me to put you in contact with a Nintendo customer support representative?"

Probably mostly Animal Crossing and Doom Eternal.
Re: Of Course Scalpers Are Already Flogging Metroid Dread's Special Edition And amiibo
@Ralek85 I'll echo @Meteoroid. I want to own the nicest version of any new game in a series I love. Metroid especially.

@Ghost_of_Hasashi I'm gonna do the same but once Prime 4 comes out and of course include all the Primes into my marathon (yes, even Hunters).
Re: New Nintendo Infographic Shows Every Game Featured During The E3 Direct
Metroid is a given for me, but I'm also super excited for Advance Wars. Wario Ware should also be good. Looking forward to Skyward Sword HD as well.
Also blasted through Ancient Gods Part 1 on Switch yesterday and had a great time. I hope Part 2 and additional master levels come soon.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Delivered An Excellent E3 Direct For Fans Old And New
I got Metroid and Advance Wars Re-boot out of it. I'm happy.

I'm glad they don't lock any major content it seems, but I kind of still want them. They're really cool figurines.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 12th)
Re: Review: Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection - Ryu Hayabusa Deserves Better Than This
@Bizzyb I'll admit when I saw this review I had a knee jerk reaction and called Nintendo for a refund. Really should have looked at some other reviews first.
