It's DOOM Eternal launch day on Switch, so what better way to celebrate than by thrusting 16 minutes of gruesome demon-slaying footage right into your eyeballs?
Our super-lovely YouTube team have put together the video above, giving you the chance to see just how well the game runs on Switch first-hand. There's no irritating commentary or other nonsense in the way either – just sit back, relax (as much as anyone can when DOOM's involved) and take it all in.
If you haven't already, we'd love for you to come on over and vote in our launch day poll. We're asking all of you in the Nintendo Life community about your intentions on buying the game, and whether or not your decision's been affected by the Switch version's delay. Incidentally, we'll have our full review of DOOM Eternal up on the site as soon as we can.
Right, we'll leave you to it. Enjoy!

Looks pretty amazing!
As much as I want to support their effort... full price? I already have Doom64 so I wouldn't even get that bonus. They should at least discount the game for people who own EVERY Doom game on Switch. I'll wait for a sale on this one.
@Jester151 Companies owe you nothing.
@mikegamer and I owe them nothing as well.
Looks decent enough, at least no trace of 240p like early on in Wolf 2.
Pretty good! Very tempted to buy it now, will 100% certain buy a physical edition when it releases.
@Jester151 This is one of the most entitled things I've ever heard someone say. Wow.
I’m actually impressed that it looks and runs as well as it does on the Switch. Can’t wait to try it myself.
@Jester151 why?
Do you think Mc Donald’s should give a discount since you have ate every burger on the menu or Sony should give a discount on the PS5 since you would owe every PS before that?
I think your comment is mute?
Man people just want stuff for cheap or for free a d the. Complain about the quality. Yeah yeah.
@Jester151
I owned all the previous Nintendo consoles why didn't I get the Switch free?!?!
Should have been 666 minutes.
I'm currently on mission 2, Exultia, and I'm loving it. It's very smooth considering the hardware. My only initial concern was that cutscenes appear to be 20 FPS and honestly look kinda bad, but you don't play Doom for the cutscenes now do you? Gameplay is always 30 so far. I'm hoping they add in a motion blur option as I feel it makes some 30 FPS games look a bit smoother. The motion aiming is excellent as expected.
The port looks very well done, kudos Panic Button, but the game itself was such a let down for me (on PS4) compared to Doom 2016 (played on Switch and PS4).
Others love it however so if you get it I hope it clicks for you and you have a great time!
Son; Mommy i want that game please!
Mom; when its on sale son!
Son on the internet; they should give discounts asap!!! Its too expensive 🤣🤣
Ahum... Kids these days..
Such a shame no hard copy.
I’m sure the poor sales will reflect this and they will release a hard copy later down the line.
@TheFullAndy I prefer Doom 2016 as well in nearly every way, but I find Doom Eternal still has plenty to enjoy.
Let me know when it get's a physical release. Not paying full price for half the product.
@Nerdfather1 entitled? It's more than half a year later than other versions, has the worst graphics, no physical version, and twice the price.. If they want it to actually be successful it needs to be priced in line with the other versions.
@ballistic90
It is undeniably a well made game but by the end it was a slog, just wasn't enjoying it.
Right after I completed it I replayed Doom 2016 and had a blast. Only thing I missed from Eternal was the dash move but got over that quick enough.
I will give the DLC a go once Eternal gets the next gen upgrade on PS5. Maybe it will click with me then.
@StevenG
It won't be so guess you will do without.
@TheFullAndy I'm referring to Bethesda giving out DOOM64 for free if you buy Eternal, if you've already bought DOOM64 you should get a discount on Eternal. Its called good business practise.
@TheFullAndy If you thought the main campaign was a slog then avoid the DLC at all costs - it is much harder!
Doesn't look too bad considering it's running on a potato.
Playing with joycons though would have to be maddening (bad enough on a regular controller). The new Dooms basically require KB/Mouse imo.
@Jester151 Then don't buy the game on the Switch and get it on another console that accommodates the money you're willing to spend. And yes, entitled. You literally said you want the game cheaper because you own all of their other games on Switch. That is called entitlement. If you wish the game was cheaper on the Switch, that's fine, but you said it as if you were deserving of this while other people weren't. And please, don't talk about the physical aspect. I've checked your comment history, and you have made several statements where you said you don't buy physical anymore, and digital is the way to go.
@Jester151 do you think the guys @ panic button should not be rewarded for the work they put in. Asking for it to be priced as low as other versions is laughable.
@Nerdfather1 yes I did say that. I'm saying it's cheaper for them if they arent doing a physical version. It's 79.99, a game that released 8 months ago on other systems. I remember them offering Doom64 on those versions as well, and then Doom64 launched on Switch well ahead of Eternal. I'm saying IT WOULD BE GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE IF THEY DISCOUNT THE GAME FOR THOSE WHO PAID FULL PRICE FOR DOOM64. This is not entitlement. It's common sense. There are many companies that run promotions like this. If you own "game A" get 50% off "Game b" or whatever.
If they want it to be successful on Switch 8 months later they are going to have to entice us a little more, especially for all those people who wanted a physical version.
Really impressive looking port!
@fusermarucs
I have heard that! But maybe that will be my moment of realisation and it all clicks lol
@kobashi100 they are contracted out to port the game, they get paid regardless. The sales go to Bethesda.
Watched some videos last night, too. I am literally blown away by how good this thing looks.
I will pay full price. I don't have an Xbox or a gaming PC so I never played this on game pass. I don't have a PS4 or PS5. The Switch is my gaming console. I will pay the full price to support Panic Button and other companies that are putting quality titles on this console. I am not a "Nintendo exclusive only" gamer and in fact like the Switch because I can play a wide variety of titles on it, at home or on the go. In fact, the two games I'm playing right now (Hades and Ori 2) are by far the two best games on the console this year and are not Nintendo titles.
And I stopped caring about physical about two years ago.
They toned down the melee and glory kills blood and guts effects for this port. Pretty pathetic.
@Scrubicius cheap? Nah.. Reasonably priced yes. 80 dollars 8 months after release is not reasonable. 60 maybe, 50 definitely.
It looks spectacular!
Bad things are the lack of physical and the price. But hey, Doom 2016 is still 60 bucks (and Skyrim, and...), did you expect this one to be less? Lol.
By the way, I wonder if FFVII remake, for example, won't be at full price when it comes to other consoles...
@Jester151
"If they want it to be successful on Switch 8 months later they are going to have to entice us a little more"
You speak for everyone?
Good business practice is actually seeing how many people are willing to pay full price up front and then when sales start to dry up lower the cost to appeal to people not willing to pay the initial cost.
You are confusing good business practice with a fantasy of how you want businesses to act that benefits you.
They also spent 8 further months work on this game than the other versions to get it running on Switch. That is why it is full price.
Bottom line is the game is full price and won't be changing anytime soon so suck it up.
@Jester151 doom 64 code is emailed, so I'm giving to my sister.
Panic button looks to have done a well made port. Now if they had "actually" made the game with the Switch in mind from the beginning like they actually said they were doing, perhaps it wouldn't have come out so late. Which automatically null and voided the pre order bonus that came out with the other versions.
So people will automatically point out the uncompetitive pricing, the lack of, oh you own Doom 64 already, here's the £3.99 discount. At the end of the day Bethesda "want" to sell this? Panic button has been paid, it is down to Bethesda to "sell" it, not us to pay Panic button. I'll gladly drop PB £1000 (all I can spare sorry PB) if they are even remotely going to go bust. Glad they still get used for Switch ports, as clearly their skills are being used on the new consoles as well now. Will definitely check out Doom Eternal in a sale, as I have actually waited for this version.
@TheFullAndy That seems unlikely, I will just get a physical disk for PS5.
Nintendo deciding to reduce their sales is their problem.
@StevenG
Bethesda's decision not to go physical rather than Nintendo's I imagine.
@FargusPelagius That was an obvious lie. Come on this is the site that interviewed a manager instead of an actual developer and let him not answer questions.
@TheFullAndy Then nintendo needs to have more control over publishing. AAA games shouldn't be allowed to only be released digital. That's just giving up sales.
@StevenG it's Bethesda doing it and i don't think Nintendo can get involved with the publishing of these games due to contractual obligations.
It's not as clear cut as you want to believe, you seem dead set on somehow pinning the fault on Nintendo though.
Personally I'm not interested.
It costs under £20 on other hardware, looks better and comes in physical too.
I am not going to use 18 gigs of storage AND spend £50 when it's cheaper and looks better elsewhere.
Not a good deal imo.
@StevenG
Nintendo cannot force a publisher to pay the extra cost for the game cartridges, that is how you end up with a N64 scenario with very few third party games.
Bethesda balanced the risk between cost of both digital and physical for a now 8 month old title on the system where the game would easily sell the least regardless. Digital probably made most financial sense.
@Jester151 let us all know where you saw panic buttons contract with Bethesda please as it's amazing how you know exactly the deal they have. Panic button may or may not get a percentage of every game sold. Panic button may get bonuses on top for a target of switch sales. Again as you seem to know exactly what was negotiated please let us see the contract which was signed.
@TheFullAndy I think Bethesda really wanted the game out on switch before Q1 2021. By the time panic button had it ready for release there wasn't enough time to produce the carts for retail. That's why I think it is digital only.
@TheFullAndy Please forward the copy of the contract. Otherwise you are just making stuff up.
I think they simply didn't want to pay for the cart and no further consideration was made. So instead of getting a $60 sale from me, they get whatever the GOTY edition for PS5 will cost on sale.
@Razer The switch is a walled garden. Nintendo has complete control over what is published for it.
@kobashi100
Yeah that could be the case.
I want this on Switch, so I'm buying it on Switch. It's worth it to me.
@StevenG luckily for us Nintendo don't act like a dictator and start demanding games cannot be released digital only. Asking for Nintendo to implement this policy is ridiculous and business sucide. You must see that third parties would laugh in Nintendo's face and walk away right. I am actually shocked anyone would think this is a good idea. This is is not the days of the NES/SNES where Nintendo could do what they want. Did you see what happend during the N64 era??
wow to be honest..I am stunned...this looks way better than expected!
@StevenG a lie that has caused "some" damage as it led people to believe the Eternal Port would be launched on time. Obvious or not, it happened. But Panic Button have clearly done their very best with the port.
@StevenG
Nintendo does not control what other companies publish or don't publish on their hardware.
@StevenG
Wise up son I am clearly speculating not claiming to be an insider. Wasn't expecting you to take it so thick.
And Bethesda gets money from you either way it appears so who actually wins here?
@TheFullAndy Nintendo loses. That was my point.
Bethesda wins less. $20 is way less than $60.
@westman98 They absolutely do. They do not allow anyone to publish software without approval. Go try it.
@Jester151 Of course you don't owe them anything. You are not forced to buy their products.
But I agree that price is too high. That's why I'll wait for a sale.
@kobashi100 No major game today would walk over that. They might raise the price a tiny amount, but that's about it.
@StevenG
Well yes, games must be certified by the ratings board (ESRB, PEGI, CERO, etc) and must be approved to actually be able to run on the hardware (i.e. so that it doesn't brick your system when you open the game).
But once it passes those two qualifications, it can be published. Nintendo can't arbitrarily step in and say "we don't like Game X because it's too 'inappropriate', so we won't let you publish it".
I bought it for 60€ and don't regret it. It is cheaper on other consoles but man - it is a new game, has a lot of content and runs beautifully. I also pay full price for a Megaman game which has less to offer or for a Mario game - don't understand why people think this should be a budget title. That would mean that every port on the Switch should be cheaper which would make companies to reconsider putting games on the switch at all.
@westman98 No, you also have to be approved by Nintendo. Nintendo approves or denies publishers all thetime.
No physical release, no deal. Good game but trashy marketing habit.
@StevenG they don't control the way a piece of media entertainment is distributed by another publisher. It's up to the other publisher if they want physical or digital.
The issue is, if the publisher doesn't see value in buying 32 gig cartridges for the game, they have a cost to the publisher that some publishers might not want to swallow, so they opt for a digital only.
This isn't Nintendo's fault.
On the matter of approval, it doesn't differ between physical and digital but the actual content of the piece of media in question, Nintendo obviously approved of the content, if it is to be released digitally.
But Bethesda, obviously doesn't see benefit in investing in physical cartridges for a physical release.
You seem to be seriously misinformation on this matter.
@Razer Nintendo certainly could have such requirements. That they don't for AAA games is very lazy.
You seem to believe that the current catastrophe is unchangeable.
No sale for my switch lite. FPS games to me seem fiddly with the controls. Joysticks too small. And anyway too expensive, and no physical and too much go space and I already got PS4 version for 20 pound! Xxx
@StevenG catastrophe?
I don't think I'm following you anymore? What catastrophe?
Yeah I really find it very hard to believe that Nintendo, or any company would make it a requirement for a piece of media entertainment published by ANOTHER PUBLISHER, be distributed digital or in physical.
Until you show me actual, factual proof of this nonsense, I'll take it as such.
Nonsense.
@StevenG also considering it was actually Bethesda themselves who made the statement that it would be digital only, it just makes tour entire argument all the more fantastical.
But again I've noticed, you seem dead set on pinning EVERYTHING on Nintendo, regardless of if it is their fault or not.
@Razer Nintendo is charging more for less than every other platform. They are cutting off a whole consumer base. Not smart.
Show you proof that contracts exist? Really?
Nintendo could require all the games to include mario if they wanted. They can put just about anything in there.
@Razer It is their walled garden. They are in total control of it.
@StevenG oh yeah right that makes perfect sense, and all developers would flock to them if Nintendo tried such arbitrarily stupid practices.
You seem to be confused with what Nintendo COULD DO... and what they wouldn't do.
Yes they could make it a requirement for all games to have Mario in it, but i doubt Bethesda would be making games for Nintendo if that were the case.
Like i said, you seem dead set on pinning this on Nintendo when ALL evidence points to the publisher doing it.
@StevenG its their walled garden but they cannot force developers and publishers to come into it.
@StevenG you think Nintendo set the prices of other games not made by them?
LOL.
We are done here.
@Razer No, you nutcase. Read what I wrote.
They write contracts and as such can dictate terms.
@Razer They clearly don't need to force anyone to show up.
@Razer Nintendo can open the walled garden up and I will stop blaming them for their decisions. Since they won't be making them anymore.
@StevenG They cannot force the other party to accept what they dictate.
Contracts are two way agreements.
Please don't be so foolish, these are public forums that anyone can read.
@StevenG you seem to be seriously confused so I'm just not going to bother.
@StevenG
As long as the game has a rating and doesn't crash or brick your hardware, it can be published.
Nintendo doesnt dictate the content of 3rd party games, nor do they dictate who is or isn't allowed to publish their ganes on a cartridge.
@StevenG
You have gone off the deep end son, sound a bit mad, and by mad I mean insane.
Sounds like some of you need to let off some steam - maybe by playing a game in which you kill lots of things?! Maybe a game called Doom? 🤣
To me it’s just impressive. Let’s also consider we’ve been playing 30fps shooters on console until yesterday, literally (Destiny 2)
I'd rather panic buttons versions of sea of thieves on switch
Hope people enjoy it, I certainly did on my pc
I prefer it over 2016, they change it a lot but doom eternal is way more intense and less focused on a mainstream audience imo
I feel like the core demographic here IS for people who already into these kind of shooters, even if it means putting off a more casual and larger crowd
@kobashi100 the fact you think this money goes to panic button is what's laughable.
It's also laughable to see people coming out swinging in defense of big corporations a day after Jim Sterling did two videos on sycophantic consumer behaviour.
That's not to say there arent options for casual players as if you die enough you get an option to make it easier
@Richnj Pretty sure Panic Button get a cut they dont port for free
@Richnj
Not everyone can stomach watching two Jim Sterling videos in quick succession.
Full price for worse performance and inability to play with keyboard/mouse?
Nah I'll get the steam version instead when it's on sale.
bethesda = microsoft this is why digit only
@Jester151 I think the big game companies and publishers need to get on board with universal game licensing, it is abhorrent we have to pay for the same game just to play it on multiple platforms when PC is not this way and is the best example of being able to do this. There really is no excuse since I can still play Steam games for example that I bought when I was a teenager 20 years ago with no issues on a new machine, or any that exists that can run it. You should buy a game and own it on any platform it exists on.
@Jokerwolf
You are suggesting that if I buy a game on Switch I get it for free on Playstation, Xbox and PC?
And how is PC not the same way?
@TheFullAndy Read what I wrote it is pretty clear.
@Jokerwolf
"it is abhorrent we have to pay for the same game just to play it on multiple platforms when PC is not this way"
PC is that way. Or can I buy Doom Eternal on PC right now and have it available on all my consoles too? Is Steam or Epic Store available on my Playstation or Switch?
What are you on about?
@TheFullAndy No I was saying it should be a thing, it baffles my mind why we all put up with a lot of the publishing practices that go on with software in particular. Microsoft is at least moving towards it but the others are showing their age and anti-consumer mindsets.
@TheFullAndy By suggesting nintendo go after money and customers?
If you guys like the status quo, that's fine.
Apparently asking for more is insane.
@Jokerwolf : This isn't merely an issue of licensing though. Unlike the PC version of games, developers do not need to do any additional work to ensure that the software can run on other hardware (unless they consciously make the effort long after release due to incompatibility with new drivers/GUIs etc. but modern games are typically future-proofed in this respect), whereas developers need to allocate additional resources to get the software working on new dedicated video game consoles (hence why they wouldn't want to give away these versions away at no additional cost). Similarly, one could make the case that buying a movie should entitle one to any future remasters/restorations of the film in perpetuity (despite any associated costs in such an endeavour) , but this wouldn't be economical for a lot of producers/studios.
I understand where you are coming from, and perhaps in theory, publishers could sell a universal license for games (that entitle one to a game on multiple and/or future consoles if one were to, say, link the same publisher, in this case, Bethesda account to their NNID, Xbox account, PSN account etc.), but I am not sure how feasible this would be in practice, or if publishers would be apprehensive about such a system due to the likelihood of it being exploited.
Games by third party publishers usually drop to levels low enough that this shouldn't really be a concern. I paid peanuts for the PC version DOOM (2016) and I would buy it again in a heartbeat if it comes to GOG.
@Silly_G Ya Well now more than ever they do next to no work porting on anything but the Switch version, even if they charged more for a universal version that would be fine too but I think more companies should consider it.
@Doktor-Mandrake it's contract work. It kinda implies fixed rates and "cheapest bidder" culture.
This game is so crazy and fun.
@StevenG
The status quo would a triple A game like Doom Eternal being released on physical as well so really Bethesda are being trailblazers by just releasing the game digitally. What mavericks!
All that stuff you mentioned about the amount of control Nintendo should hold over third party publishers is ridiculous.
@Jokerwolf : Sure. I think publishers generally should be more generous to those who choose to download their games (and I say this as a hardcore physical collector). I think it is frankly insulting that people are expected to pay full price, say, for FIFA 21 if they already own FIFA 20 and FIFA 19 (which are mostly the same), and likewise with versions of the Pokémon games. Why should one pay full price for the other version if they have already paid for a digital copy of the other? It makes no sense as the benefit of owning a digital copy of the second version is negligible when compared to owning a physical copy of both games (that can at least be used between multiple consoles), so, I definitely think that Nintendo should extend a substantial discount in that case. And likewise with Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 (which looks virtually indistinguishable from the first game).
@TheFullAndy The status quo is months late and no physical release.
@Jokerwolf
The cost of games would go through the roof if there was a universal licence so the majority of people who only buy one game for their sole platform would be paying over the odds so a minority of people could have one game on all their platforms, which is a bit pointless in itself anyway.
@StevenG
Dammit you are right. OK I want the status quo changed, how do we make the game come out at the same time as the others so I have already played it on Switch?
Incredibly impressive port. I remember all of those who doubted this port, Panic Button has done it again. 👍
@TheFullAndy There should be an option as I said, an extra $20-$30 for a universal license would be reasonable.
@Jokerwolf
But then how can the publisher know how many physical games to order for each platform?
Massive potential costs issues that would see a lot of game devs go bust.
Your idea is only remotely possible in an all digital future or when there are less platforms available and I don't fancy either of those options.
@TheFullAndy You didn't? Shigeru Miyamito sent me a personal letter where he thanked me for buying Nintendos all these years and there was a package with a brand new Switch Plus (the pro model of Switch not yet released).
@Agriculture
Must be because I wasn't in the ambassador programme for the 3DS. Curses!
@TheFullAndy It could happen now as a digital only option, you are not entitled to physical in this situation for it to work.
@Jokerwolf
But while physical games still exists it isn't a realistic option and one that will never be considered by the big publishers.
@Silly_G simple solution for customers who bought FIFA 19 and FIFA 20. Don't buy FIFA 21. Nobody has a gun to people's heads. The power is with the consumer. Again with puyo puyo Tetris 2. If customers feel the game is no different then it's an easy choice not to buy the game. Publishers give customers a choice. It's an easy buy or don't buy!
That looks like a huge amount of fun.
@TheFullAndy That isn't true, digital exists along side physical right now. If you don't want a universal copy then you buy it on the platform you want physically and forgo that as an option, that is a decision you would be making and that is fair if you value physical.
@mikegamer Not entirely true. Companies do owe their customers a good product/service, otherwise it's lights out for them.
@Jokerwolf
You are missing my point.
Whilst physical games still exist, a universal digital option cannot exist because it impacts the logisitcs of the physical release. How many physical copies will the publisher now need made because a universal digital option is obviously more desirable. So the market is flooded with too many physical copies not being sold which drives the price down, or too little copies so they lose sales.
Then you have the issue of how do you sort out which of Nintendo, Sony , Microsoft, Steam, Epic, Apple, Google etc gets the percentage of the digital sale. I buy a game digitally on Switch, Nintendo gets 30%, I can then play it on Xbox and Playstation and neither Sony nor Microsoft get a cut? You see that being allowed to happen? I mean Sony just agreed to allow cross platform play!
It's a pipe dream mate, even in an all digital scenario.
@Nerdfather1 Pretty pathetic going through comment history before even having a conversation.
That is all part of business and the changing landscape, it happens in all industries, physical is being phased out anyways. It might be a pipe dream to you but this is what I am doing when I release my game down the road, I will set the precedent for it and hopefully others follow suit.
@Jokerwolf
I admire your ideals but It aint happening mate with your game or any others.
If you want to release your game on all platforms lets see if Nintendo et al all are as generous as you. My guess is no.
@TheFullAndy It is not up to them I can simply charge more for a universal copy and you get keys for each of the platforms it releases on. There are some hurdles but I think it is worth it in the end to try it.
@Jokerwolf
But surely you would have to pay all the other platforms the game would now be free on the 30% cut yourself? That cost would stack up fast.
@StevenG No it isn't insane to ask for more.
You are absolutely correct.
What is insane is asking more from people who have NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
Like we discussed earlier, you're pinning this on Nintendo when you should be asking more from Bethesda on this one.
It's like asking the hotel for a discount on your flight... when you should be asking the airline.
See that's the insane part.
@Jester151 I actually was wondering the same since I already bought doom 64 back at launch. Figured maybe they'd give the discount for buying it since it was going to be free with eternal. I dont think you're way off base honestly.
@NintendoByNature yeah, wasnt expecting such a backlash for suggesting such a thing.
@Jester151 yea I mean. They suggested giving 64 free with eternal originally. So, im surprised more people just forgot about it or didn't seem to really care. Eh whatever. Is what it is I suppose.
I highly prefer the switch pro controller to my basic ps4 pad but I can’t justify Switch tax anymore. Not only that, but there are some games I just won’t play on handheld/tabletop anyway. Love my switch but yeah, got Doom Eternal on vanilla PS4 for $16 before thanksgiving.
Wow, the full-throated defense of mega-corporations here is quite mind-boggling. Companies are not your friends. You don't have to buy their stuff and you don't need to love the value you're getting even if you do. Capitalism is supposed to be about competition - part of that is criticizing business decisions you don't like, not just saying "yes, please and thank you, oh great owners of production!"
For the record, I raised an eyebrow myself when I saw Doom 64 thrown in as an incentive, since so many people had bought it specifically to tide themselves over. Granted, Doom 64 was extremely cheap, so I don't particularly care, but I certainly won't jump down the throat of someone who does.
I swear some of you jump at opportunities to defend mega-corps. You'll actively talk down your fellow gamers/consumers. hoping these companies will send you a nice Christmas card or tell you how proud they are of you.
@Omarzy @BoilerBroJoe
Who in this chat is actually defending it? Or are they (we) just being realistic because they (we) don't live in fantasy land?
If you lot got what you wanted the games industry would collapse in of itself and we would all be left with nowt.
Grow up.
I interpreted comment #2 as being an opinion rather than a demand or some expression of 'entitlement'. 'I think "this" would be more incentive for what is on offer here, and as this isnt the case I will pass until it's on sale'. I don't see the issue with their sentiment. I didnt interpret 'should' as meaning 'must', I read it as 'would be better if'. At the very least I can understand why some people would be put off by the release, and I dont see a problem there either.
Personally I own the Steam and PS4 versions. I was interested in buying it on Switch but the lack of a physical copy feels like a bit of a deal breaker for myself. I understand given how much Nintendo's proprietry cartridges apparently cost for devs as to why some opt to skip physical, but my own decision is to give it a miss.
Funnily enough, Doom Eternal is also the tagline of 2020. Graphics were good for that but story was a wild ride.
I'm sorry if I missed something, but what exactly is the "anti consumer" issue here with Eternal on Switch?
@Omarzy : Right? There are so many shills defending detrimental business practices that are of no benefit to the consumer. The stupidest part is they are not on their marketing or development teams, nor do they have stakes in the business, and yet they leap to the defence of multi-million/billion dollar companies as if their prosperity depends on it (and to the detriment of all consumers of a product/brand). Imagine if people were as passionate about defending and supporting small businesses as they do getting ripped off by big businesses?
Heavily downgraded. I’m good with ps4 version
@Dragonslacker1 I agree. I can’t play fps games on switch. They joysticks don’t seem right. Even with pro controller fps seems off.
It’s kinda funny that so many people complain about the game being 8 months old; 8 months is not even one year, and it’s still an awesome game, and honestly I don’t get why it had that price drop on other consoles.
@Tonyo if you need all of that then you care nothing about the actual game
@Dragonslacker1 @Mgene15 I have no issues with my switch. I bought a case though that actually makes it more comfortable in my hands but as for the controller itself there is nothing wrong with it.
@Dirty0814 how about the fact the enemies are incredibly low texture compared to even the 2016 port? Sorry but things like that effect the overall quality your obviously easy to please
@Mgene15 i agree people who keep saying this is amazing or a miracle just dont understand the compromises and are happy to turn a blind eye just because oh its eternal on a portable.
Will get on this tonight once I’ve got the kids asleep. Can’t wait! Basically the port looks similar to Doom 2016 which is a good thing as I had a blast with that. Gyro baby!
A few fuzzy textures and low cutscene Frame rate will not stop me from having a blast with the Dooper Shotgun!
@TheFullAndy There's some jokers on this site. The minute you say something contrary to their beliefs you're sucking corporate schlong...and then in the same breath throw around terms like "fellow gamers". I need to update my bingo card again.
@WiltonRoots
Ha! It seems some people just don't know, or aren't willing to accept how the world works.
Doesn't mean there aren't business practices I won't criticise, microtranscations in full price games being being a big one, but this particular decision just made sense for Bethesda.
@TheFullAndy You can do it with some work arounds so that you are not losing out if you made the universal version the PC version and then it would generate the keys for those systems, all the pricing would be adjusted for it. It is very possible to do it with no loss at all.
@Jokerwolf
Well I wish you luck on that and your game!
@TheFullAndy Thank you! Once I have some kind of demo I will be sure to let Nintendo Life know about it, may be a few years though lol.
@Razer agree 100%
@EVIL-C That's subjective
@mikegamer Art, music, film, etc.. That's subjective. A crap business deserves to go under.
