I did a test playthrough of Part 1 on easy difficulty just to see what I was getting myself into if I did it on nightmare, and oh man I still haven't had the courage to try. I can only imagine what insanity is gonna be in part 2.
I want to 100% 3D World on Switch so I'm going through it with each character in increasing order of favorites. So I'm starting with Peach and then will go Rosalina, Toad, Mario, and then my main man Luigi!
@Juga Is it your first time playing Mario RPG by any chance? I remember my brother and I having a really tough time with them way back when.
As I've started doing with all of Nintendo's big releases (the ones that I care about anyway), already got a digital copy and have a physical copy coming in the mail. I want that digital convenience but don't want to miss out on cool box arts!
Samus Returns and Shadows of Valentia are just fantastic. Funny how they're both remakes of the second game in their respective series.
@Anti-Matter I also love Dillon's games and want him to get a Switch game or ports of the 3DS games on Switch. Also wish he'd been a full fighter in Smash instead of an assist trophy.
@markypickard Thanks for your reply, but it's the online multiplayer I'm wondering about specifically. I'm wondering if my brother in law and my sister can play online with me at the same time or if it would have to just be one of them playing online with me at a time.
Edit: I just found my answer on the website for the game. It's up to two players per system when playing online. So it sounds like I can play online with them!
I found that I didn't have as much fun replaying this game as I did 3D Land because the levels felt more designed for multiple players, but I'm hoping maybe the speed increase makes it feel a bit more energetic. Also I'm getting it for my brother in law for his birthday so we can play online together.
@scully1888 Does online support more than one player per console? I'd really like to play online with my brother in law and my sister who play on the same Switch. Or is it like you can only have one player per Switch? Just curious how it works.
I figured 3D World would be my last game purchase this year barring anything amazing being announced (got too many unplayed games as it is), but this fits the bill I think.
@Yanina @Snatcher Seeing other people say this too is nice since I've been hoping the same thing from the beginning. I think Nintendo has the perfect hardware model now. They just need to refine it and make it better (fix the joysticks first and foremost) but keep the same concept. The games are where all the innovation needs to be focused.
For a long time I've been getting on Animal Crossing to just do little daily things, but I've just started to get back into it because I want to actually put some more work into my town and make it better. I'll be doing some landscaping and moving things around a bit. I may also play some Cyber Shadow.
I kind of feel bad that I've left my Mario marathon hanging so close to the end, but I don't want to finish Color Splash until I can do it with my brother (he's really been enjoying it when we can play it together), and Mario + Rabbids I'm having a bit of a tough time getting into.
I dunno if it was already added in a previous update, but I got on the dream suite just now, and they've added an option to revisit towns and favorite ones you've visited before. Nice!
I don't mind grinding if it's an option to help me get ahead, but I don't want to have to do it. Although I rarely play RPGs or games with grinding in general these days. Too little time, too many other shorter and just as fulfilling games to play. Even if I try I just can't get into most RPGs now.
Spending the weekend with my sister and her husband so it'll mostly be TV and movies. They showed me Reno 911 last night which I thought was hilarious.
Anyway on video games, we might play some Animal Crossing or Smash Bros together.
I preloaded cyber shadow and the Dead Cells DLC. After this, my next game will be 3D World + Bowser's Fury, and after that...unless Nintendo announces something soon then there are no games on the horizon that I'm interested in. I'm perfectly fine with that because I have tons of unfinished games on Switch and PS4. It'll give me space to work on my backlog and on beefing up my movie collection.
@Gamer_Griff The thing about the Captain Toad DLC is that it has some brand new levels which are great, but it also has a bunch of remixed levels that I find a bit disappointing. I'd say it's worth getting for the new stuff alone, but it's a bit of a bummer that it's not all new content.
Raiden V was on sale for 7.99 I think so I grabbed it. Aegis Defenders is also 4.99. Anybody played it? It's supposed to be good, but I'm not sure I'd enjoy the tower defense. It's pretty cheap though so it wouldn't be a big loss if I ended up not liking it.
I'm sorta interested in Yoshi's Crafted World, but I've also heard it's kind of boring.
Honestly this game is incredible. It's just so fun. When I did it for my marathon back in about October, it was probably my second most fun game after Galaxy 2. 100%ed the whole thing that one weekend. I absolutely love this game. I hate to say it, but when I replayed 3D World, I wasn't having nearly as much fun.
I actually find that Doom Eternal on Switch is more fun and feels faster than on PS4 due to gyro aiming. It's not PC quality obviously, but the gyro really does give you better control.
Also some of my other favorite digital games from last month, while not new releases, were the Bit Trip games.
@SimoneBelmont @Northwind It really is bad. The other day I was trying to find a game that I couldn't remember the title of, and I had to sort through hundreds of entries in the shooter and platformer genres. After like an hour or more I found it. It was Huntdown.
I've been out of my Mario marathon for a while now...I'm very close to the end though. Just have to finish Color Splash and then do Mario + Rabbids, Captain Toad, Mario Odyssey, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Origami King. Won't be finishing Color Splash until I can play it again with my brother though. So I think I'll try to work on Mario + Rabbids.
I really hope Galaxy 2 does come to Switch at some point. I replayed it recently on Wii, and it's probably my favorite 3D Mario. The level design is just endlessly fun and replayable. I got the minimum amount of stars needed to beat the game so I could keep the majority of it fresh for if it does come to Switch.
I've been replaying basically every Mario platformer and RPG this year, and I've actually had the most fun with 64 and Color Splash. Thousand Year Door's story is pretty good, but I don't find the gameplay engaging enough to back it up, and it has a pretty slow start. Was a bit long too for a Mario game. Took me over 30 hours to get through when all the other RPGs generally took around 12 - 20 (except Dream Team which is padded waaaaaaay the heck out).
Sticker Star was boring though. So hard to get through that one.
Think I enjoyed Wedding season and Turkey Day the most. I enjoyed setting up photo shoots for Cyrus and Reese, and I also like searching for ingredients for Turkey Day.
Mostly playing the Bit Trip games that just came out. Also planning to play through Donkey Kong Country with my brother and possibly also my brother in law.
I feel like I actually need to go back and finish all the side content and actually beat the true final boss of the original game. Some of the bosses are just so hard though...
@nessisonett After an experience I had the other day I know the pain of merge conflicts all too well...
@Guitario Yeah, the eShop doesn't really tell you that. I think it was only said by the developers on Twitter, but I definitely got the discounts when I bought them.
Kind of goofy to have a 5 game limit on the poll when the 6 Bit Trip games are coming out!
Anybody that loves rhythm games or wordless storytelling like Hyper Light Drifter, I strongly recommend the Bit Trip games. They're about as perfect as I think any series of games can be.

Probably mostly just New Horizons for me.
I'm also thinking I may do a new playthrough of The Messenger before playing Cyber Shadow.

Probably my favorite 3D Mario after Galaxy 2. It's just endlessly fun.

Kind of cool that they called out Shadow of the Ninja. I'd seen it on the NES app but have never really spent much time with it. I might have to now.
@anonymunchy You doing a let's play?

Super Star Ultra doesn't have much competition if you ask me. Except maybe Robobot.
