Re: Surprise! Nintendo Confirms That "Many" New Games Are Coming This Year

Giygas_95

@screechums And new power ups. The tried and tested space jump, morph ball, gravity suit, wave beam, plasma beam, etc could use some shaking up. Think Metroid Prime 2.

I'm not sure how it would handle Metroids being extinct unless they continue on with the story of Samus having the DNA of the last Metroid. Maybe now she could be a fugitive from the Galactic Federation who want to arrest her for getting rid of the X parasites against their orders. Or, let's be real...they probably have more secret facilities breeding Metroids if Fusion and Other M taught us anything.

Re: Surprise! Nintendo Confirms That "Many" New Games Are Coming This Year

It feels like its been ages since Nintendo released an honest to goodness all new game (meaning 3D World + Bowser's Fury doesn't really count although Bowser's Fury is great). I guess the last one was Age of Calamity unless I'm forgetting something else? And the last one I've even been interested in was probably Origami King back in July...

@Beeko3024 I know I said what I said about all new games, but YES, Xenoblade X doesn't deserve to die with the Wii U...I'd buy that in a heartbeat.

@earthinheritor Probably Origami King or Age of Calamity, though they're a lot more niche than Animal Crossing.

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About E3 2021?

Giygas_95

I'm pretty sure we're gonna get another Smash character revealed, and I'm excited for that. I hope we get Doomguy, but I'm kind of doubtful.

I'm hoping for some good new first party reveals (can we get a Metroid Prime 4 trailer? Please?). I'd like to see the Dillon's Rolling Western franchise make its way to Switch too.

I'm also hoping for one or two ports. I would absolutely love some Metroid games ported, especially Metroid Prime Trilogy and an HD remaster of Samus Returns. Add GB and GBA to the Switch online service and launch it with Metroid II, Metroid Fusion, and Metroid Zero Mission.

Mario Galaxy 2 would be great also, but maybe we'll have to wait till the 40th anniversary for that...I really hope not. I'm sure we're gonna see some Zelda content. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD seem likely. I also hope we eventually get a port of Xenoblade Chronicles X. It's a really great RPG, and I'd hate for it to be stuck on the Wii U.

Anyway, that's a lot more than one or two ports, but I hope for at least one or two of those. Especially Xenoblade Chronicles X.

Not really interested in any of the other companies unless Ubisoft finally announces a new Splinter Cell (please don't make it open world...)

@AlexSora89 Me too. The anticipation of finding out who the last fighters are is killing me. I'm sure they're saving the best for last (I hope they are anyway).

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 8th)

Giygas_95

Let's see...I woke up a few minutes ago with a hankering for Doom Eternal so luckily my Switch was still sitting beside me from playing it before I went to bed. I'll probably transition to playing it on PS4 at some point though since it's a smoother experience there.

I'm also nearing the end of my hard mode run of AM2R. It's been an interesting experience, but the limited missile ammunition in a game where you need tons of them to kill Metroids has gotten annoying at times. The bosses are sure challenging, but the rest of the game doesn't seem that much harder. I'll probably stick with normal mode in the future since I feel it has a much more well approximated difficulty curve and better pacing.

I'm also gonna try to continue progressing through Mutant Mudds Super Challenge on the Switch collection. I fully completed Deluxe last weekend, and it's one of my all time favorite platformers. Super Challenge is good too, but it raises my anxiety levels way higher!

Lastly, I need to continue my playthrough of DOOM II. Remains to be seen if I do or not since I kind of want to play other games more. Oh, and I'd also like to start a new playthrough of Hyper Light Drifter. Aaaaaaahhhhh too many games too little time.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (May 1st)

Giygas_95

I finished all of Ultimate Doom (including Sigil) on Ultraviolence. Honestly...I hated Sigil. I just did not have a good time with it. I found the ammo supply way too restrictive for it to be fun, and the map design was incredibly annoying much of the time.

So I moved onto Doom 2, and I'm also playing some Doom 2016 and Eternal as well. On top of that, I'll be playing some Hyper Light Drifter and Metal Gear Solid V as well. Really a smorgasbord this weekend! Side note, I just picked up a physical copy of Hyper Light Drifter, and I love it. It's nice having a physical copy of my #1 indie game.

@ThomasBW84 Jedi Fallen Order is so good! Hope you have a good time with it.

Re: Feature: Every Mega Man Game Ranked

Giygas_95

I always go back and forth on whether Mega Man 2 or 3 is better but then I remember that 2 has that awful turret boss and the stage that precedes it. There's nothing overly terrible about the stage except that the music is awful and repetitive in a game that mostly has great music. Plus there's some things that still feel a bit janky in 2 like the series still hadn't quite found its identity. I never cared much for the numbered items, and bosses like Air Man are just weird with how I'm pretty sure some of his attacks can't be dodged.

So 3 for me. I would say Mega Man 9 is my favorite Mega Man Game overall. Somewhere in my top ten would also be Mega Man X2 and X (I actually prefer X2 over X), all four Zero games, Mega Man 2, Mega Man X4, and Mega Man ZX. Don't know if I could put them in a particular order.

Re: Review: The Longing - Tedious By Design, And Incredibly Successful At It

Giygas_95

So I'm assuming in order to get this game to actually have 400 real days worth of content, that means they have to limit your progression fairly often right? If you could just play non-stop, you'd probably see all there is to see in no time. So doesn't that mean this would be sort of a pick up and play for a few minutes a day type of game before quitting and going on to something else? That doesn't seem like it would get too boring unless I'm not understanding...

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 10th)

Giygas_95

I'm doing what I'm considering to be my own head canon chronological playthrough of the Doom series. I'm starting with Doom 3 and switching between it and Lost Mission to sort of combine the two into one game since they take place at the same time. It'll go something like this:

Doom 3 + Lost Mission
Resurrection of Evil
Doom 1 (including Thy Flesh Consumed)
Sigil
Doom 2
No Rest for the living
Final Doom
Doom 64
Doom 64 Lost Levels
Doom 2016
Doom Eternal
Ancient Gods Part 1
Ancient Gods Part 2

I'm also popping in and out of Animal Crossing. Still trying to make blue roses, but I'm getting close.

And when I'm not playing Doom, I'll be working on my thousandth playthrough of Ghost Recon Future Soldier plus its Raven Strike DLC. I love that game.

@HamatoYoshi It sure is outstanding. I didn't like it as much at first because of how different it is from 2016, but it's my favorite Doom now.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 3rd)

@Edu23XWiiU Photo camo was so overpowered. I took a picture of a brown comforter and would often get 100% camo index. I miss 3D. Wish the effect could have survived past the 3DS.

I might have to try the HD rumble on Eternal since you mentioned it. I have the rumble on my Switch turned off to save battery.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 3rd)

Giygas_95

@Edu23XWiiU I thought the motion controls seemed pretty good when I tried the other day, but everyone's different. Doom Eternal on Switch is really the gold standard for gyro controls.

And sorry if it sounded like I was ignoring the fact that you said you already had it. Initially, I didn't look closely enough to realize that you and the other person asking about it were different people!

I'd also like an HD version of Snake Eater 3D. The addition of crouch walking made the game actually playable for me.
