I’ve already talked about Yars Rising a bunch. It came out in the fall and was overshadowed by other releases.

No demo, unfortunately. It is $30, but you can find the physical and digital versions discounted.

@Krambo42 Good point. Maybe ‘Great Metroidvania’ is too strong, but I would still say it is a good one. WayForward has also done the Shantae games, so I imagine Yars Rising is comparable.

I would modify the boss fights. There was no indication if your attacks were damaging them or how close you were to beating them (beyond possibly some dialog cues).

I would add Yars Rising as a surprise indie. A great metroidvania. And a game made by Yars fans for Yars fans. 😊

@OorWullie I think the idea was that you could link together the small challenges to get a really fast time on beating a level start to finish.

However, you are right. The build up doesn’t really pay off and those mini challenges just are not that fun.

As many have said, the NES Remix games brought better and more diverse challenges.

And don’t sleep on Yars Rising!

@Slain @nukatha @JohnnyMind See if the theme is available for tickets during the Maximus Cup. I was missing a theme and it wasn’t available, even after they made some available. Later, I was able to get it. It was during a Maximus Cup, but no announcement was made that it was available again (it was Theme 12 - Kirby Fighters 2).

I read the headline as the final Maximus Cup…. 😮😮😮

I see why IGN gave it a 5. My first impressions had it at a 7, but I think I am dropping down to a 6. I am also nearly finished with the game, but I am pushing myself to finish..

This may not be the biggest seller, but there are probably a lot of Switch players that never played the original Wii game. Many casual players may even just think it is a new game.

I kind of like Christmas themed games. Remember Elf Bowling? 😊🧑‍🎄

Yars Rising for me. I had so much fun with that one.

But there are also a lot of games I haven’t played yet.

@FishyS I wish this was more dlc and improvements to the original game, but I understand music licenses can be costly and push them to making the games separate.

I have the first game digitally. I’ll have to try out the demo for 3 and see if I want to pick it up.

I hope we get the SNES Tetris & Dr. Mario game. Basically it is the NES versions of both games on one cartridge, but supports two player split-screen and has a mode where you compete with both games.

Still, I find that I want to play and finish it. I haven’t given up yet nor felt the need to move on to a different game. 😊

We should all remember the price of another Square game. In 1996, Super Mario RPG (SNES) launched for $75 in the United States. 😬

Before the Switch launched, I remember a lot of people predicting that it would be $250 with a pack-in game included. 😬

@Ironcore @outsider83 Tetrisphere has a decent chance of being added to the N64 NSO app since it was published by Nintendo. Tetris Worlds was published by THQ, so it potentially has a better chance of being added to a collection like this.

So far, NSO has Game Boy Tetris and will be getting NES Tetris this winter.

I would also like the SNES NSO app to get the Tetris & Dr. Mario ROM. 😊

I had a hard time with the bosses too, but I am usually terrible with boss fights. Adding the upgrades for extra hearts and the additional heart drops helped. They need to display the bosses health. I never knew how much damage my attacks were making, nor how close I was to beating the boss.

Overall, though, it is a game made by fans for the fans. A perfect homage. Some of the mini games also include other Atari properties like Centipede and Missile Command. The end credits includes a very deep cut. I am geeking out. 🤓🤓🤓❤️❤️❤️

I bought the first game digitally at full price. I played it some, but not enough to justify buying the other versions. Nor did I think the other versions differed that much to what I already had.

However, I may get 3. But I will be getting the physical cart this time. I usually buy physical for this very reason. Lesson re-learned.

I’ll try A Little to the Left. These game trials are nice, but I wish we had more than just a week.
