1. We will learn more spec details, but the Switch 2 is way more advanced then most suspected. At $450, they are probably selling the hardware at a loss.
2. 1-2 Switch should not have been a pack in title. It wasn’t that fun and would have given many people a bad first impression.
3. If 1-2 Switch had been a pack-in title, the Switch would have costed $50 more, for a game that many really didn’t want.
@charliecarrot Agreed. I like the idea, but if this were to happen, the Switch 2 would be docked and the OG Switch would be the tablet controller (with no C button).
@SViper Right. Now that people can lend digital titles in an easier fashion, a lot of people may sell their physical games and then buy them digitally. That would potentially have been a lot of gold coins.
And essentially the value added now is the ability to lend titles.
@SillyG I love Picross, but the modern generic puzzles are a little too abstract. They use colors to help define the completed puzzles. Often I have no idea what the completed puzzle is supposed to be until they fill in the colors. It takes away a little of the fun.
Every time I hear about major sales like these, I think Disney must have received the deal of a lifetime for buying all things Star Wars for $4 billion.
@StewdaMegaManNerd Chrono Trigger? SNES and DS are the versions people like. But there was also a PlayStation version and it appears to be on mobile phones too.
@shoeses @Wisestfool According to Wikipedia, Special Themes 1-10, 12, & 17 are the only ones that you can get by exchanging tickets (without a special event).
I have a handful of them. Some I paid full price. A few I got on sale. I love that they include alternate ROMs when they exist (like the international version). The emulation is great.
However, I can’t justify buying too many more. $8 per title is a premium price (and is digital only). It is much cheaper when you buy them in collections.
I will feel more comfortable with the price if the purchases carry over to the Switch 2.
@kevinm360 This is true. The Wii U and 3DS did have eShops and a Nintendo Selects range.
Maybe Switch games will eventually be brought back as budget titles after we get the Switch 2. 🤞
EDIT: However, Nintendo is in a much different business position with the Switch. The Wii U needed all the life support it could get. For example, the Wii U got Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii) for $20 on the eShop.
@rjejr Players Choice and Nintendo Selects were a way to bring back old games to the retail shelves. With the eShop, this is no longer needed.
However, they should give permanent discounts to some of their older titles on the eShop (e.g. Link’s Awakening, ARMS, 1-2 Switch, Yoshi’s Crafted World, Mario Maker 2, Origami King).
The good news? Game Builder Garage was always $30. 😊

Re: Nintendo Appears To Have Given Its Game Cases A Makeover On Switch 2
@Anti-Matter I don’t know if it has been confirmed recently, but the Switch 2 game boxes are expected to be larger.

Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast
@SMJ Right. The original Super Mario RPG launched at $75 in the States.
It would be nice to have a range of game prices (based on content). Like how Game Builder Garage launched at $30.
Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast
At $80, I would expect any DLC for Mario Kart World to be free.
Re: "DROP THE PRICE!!!" Scream Nintendo Fans During Nintendo's Treehouse Live Broadcast
The Switch 2 hardware is more powerful than most anticipated. They might be selling it at a loss.
Re: Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour Price Has Been Confirmed
@ElkinFencer10 I am with you.

Re: Switch 2 Was Very Nearly Called 'Super Nintendo Switch'
@sullivans2004 Right! No “Pro” and no “New”. Terrible SEO.
Re: Nintendo Devs Reveal Some Big eShop Improvements On Switch 2
Switch Tooie. 😉

Re: Sony's Back On Switch With A Delightful New PSP Remaster
The colors and art style of this reminds me of World of Goo. 😊

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Direct Predictions - What Do You Want To See?
Time to right an eight year old injustice:
Disney Afternoon Collection. 😊
Re: Nintendo Direct Confirmed For Tomorrow, 27th March 2025
@kerplunk With your user image, I gotta add that they will finally right an eight year injustice. Disney Afternoon Collection for Switch!
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch 2 To Launch In June With 3-Phase Software Plan
3rd party can mean a lot of things. There are hundreds of indie devs. They are the ones that won’t be getting dev kits early.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch 2 To Launch In June With 3-Phase Software Plan
@MarioBrickLayer Indie devs probably won’t get theirs until June, but I bet a few major partners already have them.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch 2 To Launch In June With 3-Phase Software Plan
@LastFootnote I agree. Most indie devs won’t have dev kits yet, but a few trusted partners should already have them.
Re: Rumour: Nintendo Switch 2 To Launch In June With 3-Phase Software Plan
This sounds plausible. There hasn’t been much scuttlebutt on dev kits out in the wild.
Re: Nintendo Reuploads Game Vouchers Trailer With Switch 2 Fine Print
No need for a complex voucher system. Subscribers should get a simple percentage discount on 1st party eShop games.

Yars Rising is a joy. ❤️
Re: Rumour: Metroid Prime 4 Will Apparently Make Quite The Splash At The Switch 2 Direct
@Zaruboggan Same. As an adult, I can wait for Christmas. No need to peak at the presents. Please save the surprise and wonder for the Direct. 😊

So much Picross… Love it!

Re: Poll: What Switch Game Could You Not Live Without?
I used a technicality. I voted Mario Odyssey since Breath of the Wild is on Wii U (I did buy that version at launch).

Re: Nintendo Places Outside Top 20 In Metacritic's 15th Annual Game Publisher Rankings
@KITG_GROUP I can’t speak for their other games, but Ubisoft did have Prince of Persia in Jan of 2024 - and it did review well.
Re: Nintendo Download: 6th March (North America)
Pirate Trails and Puzzle Lights are missing in the poll.
Re: Nintendo Places Outside Top 20 In Metacritic's 15th Annual Game Publisher Rankings
@Alpha008 I would guess that Prince of Persia did a lot of the heavy lifting for UbiSoft in 2024.
Re: Hamster's Arcade Archives Celebrates Eight Years Of Switch eShop Releases
I am hoping they release Professor Pac-Man. 🤞
Re: Hamster's Arcade Archives Celebrates Eight Years Of Switch eShop Releases
455 * $8 = $3,640.00.

And for kids, the Switch is more affordable and practical.

My wallet says “Please, no”.
My backlog agrees.
The kid in me says, “Bring it on!”

Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Tops Switch Charts In Opening Month (US)
@Grumblevolcano They could shadow drop something without a Direct, but it wouldn’t be anything big.
We just got Wario Land 4 on NSO. Maybe we will get some mainline Pokemon games finally added to the subscription.
Re: Poll: Which Pokémon Game Really Deserves A Remake Next?
Maybe a mainline game finally lands on NSO? Still a long shot, but probably more likely than a new spinoff game getting announced.
Re: Donkey Kong Country Returns HD Tops Switch Charts In Opening Month (US)
So for February, still no big 1st party game announced, right?
Re: Anniversary: HAL Laboratory Is 45 Years Old Today
Glad you mentioned BOXBOY! and Part Time UFO in the article. ❤️
Re: Anniversary: HAL Laboratory Is 45 Years Old Today
I know the sequel was not developed by HAL, but it would be neat to see Balloon Kid added to the NSO Game Boy app.
Re: The Lego Game Boy May Be Reasonably Cheap If New Leak Is To Be Believed
It is just a render, but the buttons look a little too purple.
Re: Nike Has Gone Bananas With These Donkey Kong Country-Inspired Trainers
They should come with a red tie. 😉
Re: Random: This Fan-Made Render Has Us Dreaming Of Switch 2's Dual-Screen Potential
@Duncanballs Agreed. One theory is the dock will have some power to stream games to the TV with the Switch undocked. 🤞
The final evolution of the Wii U. 😊
Re: Random: This Fan-Made Render Has Us Dreaming Of Switch 2's Dual-Screen Potential
@LimitedPower @Anti-Matter Tomodachi Life 2 could also just be made for a single screen system. 😉
My daughter loves the original game. ❤️
Re: Random: This Fan-Made Render Has Us Dreaming Of Switch 2's Dual-Screen Potential
As the article acknowledges, it seems like a lot of weight for a USB port (even with the plastic supports).

Re: Game Vouchers Won't Work On Switch 2 Exclusives, Says Nintendo
Vouchers are a good deal, but a bit of a clunky system. Just simplify it by giving a discount on digital titles for NSO subscribers.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th February)
I forgot to vote for it, but I got the Tetris 99 DKC Returns theme last night.
Re: Hideki Kamiya Wants Nintendo To Reboot Virtual Console For Switch 2
@IOI Agreed! And NSO is missing Instruction manual scans.
EDIT: I would legit read way more instruction manuals on NSO than games actually played.
