Probably the only RPG my daughter ever played (and enjoyed). Though, she has played a lot of the farming games like Stardew Valley.

With Ori and Cuphead, Microsoft realized they didn’t need a handheld. One was already available to them.

@Serpenterror The original DK arcade game, DK ‘94, and Mario vs. DK are all great games. And they are considered DK games, however, you don’t play as DK in them.

Like you said, people want new games playing as DK. A 3D game would be awesome. 😊

That said, I hope DK ‘94 is added to the NSO app soon. 🤞

@thesilverbrick I was surprised and pleased that Metroid Prime was only $40.

I always thought Link’s Awakening HD set the bad precedent. It should have been in the $40-$50 range.

At least Mario vs DK was $50 at release.

And Pikmin 1 & 2 were bundled together. Same for the upcoming Dragon Quest 1 & 2.

I got my copy for $50 from Woot, but looks like their inventory is currently sold out. There is a good chance, though, that they will get more in stock.

@GameName I am with you. I prefer the Namco Arcade collection or the Capcom Arcade Stadium approach.

Arcade Archives are more premium and are stand alone titles, but still $8.

I like the idea of rare games getting re-releases, but like many have said, this price is high for the digital version.

@Serpenterror I would think that NSO would pay owners for 3rd party titles, but I don’t know how much.

Great for people that want to own games, but I would rather just see it on the NSO GBA app. 😬

It will be a tough balance. We want to support indie games, but we also want to declutter the eShop.

Still, it is very nice and humble of him to encourage players to try other indie games. 😊

I am in the States. I was going to wait, but had some Christmas cash and got it from Woot for $50.

I will say this, it is hard to go back to the small screens of the 3DS after playing Switch. Guess my eyes are also getting older. 🤓

@Andee I found it to be a fun metroidvania, but I also have a lot of nostalgia for the IP. It probably won’t be too difficult for most, but I wasn’t looking for a “hard as nails” game. And I did like the soundtrack. Enjoy! 😊

Actually, Clubhouse Games has a shooting gallery similar to the one on Wii Play. I need to revisit Clubhouse games soon for that mode. 😊

I’ve already talked about Yars Rising a bunch. It came out in the fall and was overshadowed by other releases.

No demo, unfortunately. It is $30, but you can find the physical and digital versions discounted.

@Krambo42 Good point. Maybe ‘Great Metroidvania’ is too strong, but I would still say it is a good one. WayForward has also done the Shantae games, so I imagine Yars Rising is comparable.

I would modify the boss fights. There was no indication if your attacks were damaging them or how close you were to beating them (beyond possibly some dialog cues).

I would add Yars Rising as a surprise indie. A great metroidvania. And a game made by Yars fans for Yars fans. 😊

@OorWullie I think the idea was that you could link together the small challenges to get a really fast time on beating a level start to finish.

However, you are right. The build up doesn’t really pay off and those mini challenges just are not that fun.

As many have said, the NES Remix games brought better and more diverse challenges.

And don’t sleep on Yars Rising!

@Slain @nukatha @JohnnyMind See if the theme is available for tickets during the Maximus Cup. I was missing a theme and it wasn’t available, even after they made some available. Later, I was able to get it. It was during a Maximus Cup, but no announcement was made that it was available again (it was Theme 12 - Kirby Fighters 2).

I see why IGN gave it a 5. My first impressions had it at a 7, but I think I am dropping down to a 6. I am also nearly finished with the game, but I am pushing myself to finish..
