"Let‘s Face It" really is a masterpiece! I know how the word gets overused a lot these days but it‘s hard to call it anything else. The live rendition of Rascal King that was included in the PS1 game Rogue Trip will forever be burnt into my braincells. When I discovered the whole album about 15 years later I was overwhelmed about how effing good it it is.
I don‘t know, you either invite the guy to have him talk and let him tell you a few things or you let it go. This is just disrespectful. And given the fact that the people organising this knew he was going to use a translator makes it even worse.
@Spider-Kev
What I meant was that having a good storyline can’t make up for mediocre or boring gameplay. But having both, a good story and good gameplay would be the ideal way of course.
And that is what Nintendo has done right ever since. Gameplay first, everything else can be considered later. 'Cause what‘s the point if you have a wonderful chronological order but the gameplay just sucks?
Twilight Princess is one of my favorite Zelda games but one thing that p**ses me off is that last riddle before you get the Master Sword. It always breaks the pace for me and after the first or second playthrough I just looked it up online.
Second would be the original Wind Waker‘s last quest with the triforce shards. Why would you hide the necessary maps behind a friggin‘ paywall?
That‘s not saying the game is bad, but for 40 bucks I‘d expect more on the visual side to be honest. Or has Walking Dead: Destinies awoken a new sense of nostalgia for the PS2 era?
It‘s a near perfect game with universal appeal. It is going to be very hard to top that. But as others have mentioned, they are probably going to take the Smash Bros. Ultimate route. I could also see them introduce a new gimmick with different coins and abilities. But they‘d have to keep some kind of basic mode to make it accessible for newcomers.
I’m usually not complaining about framerates but revisiting the PAL-version made me realize that this version of OOT is in fact a pain in the a** to play nowadays. Why not make a remaster of the 3DS game, kinda like they are doing it now with Luigi‘s Mansion 2?
That‘s what I love about Nintendo, they always keep a certain modesty. They are not announcing things like "the next Nintendo game will be a step above everyone else and can be played by your dog in VR". Like, who is still hyped up by these empty phrases? I suspect it‘s going to be "Balan: Galaxies of Wonder".
I‘m also a fan of less is more. I think it makes it a bit less accesible for newcomers since it can be overwhelming to choose someone from a big roster like that. In my opinion it shouldn‘t be bigger than the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe count of characters.
Maybe I was at the height of my gaming skills back when SMG2 came out but I never thought that it would be too difficult.
Sunshine has a lot of frustrating aspects that kinda make it difficult. Like the watermelon. Or that venomous water and leaf level. Which you can only reach after spending a lifetime on that sh***y boat. God, I can see why I have no more nerves left at 30.
The most interesting part to me was how managed to find this strategy. They let an AI tool replay the same passage with limited controls over and over again until it finds a humanly viable way. I think it simulated over a hundred years of playing within an hour. Speedrunning has a lot of science going on and I think that‘s part of what makes it so interesting. Especially anything regarding Mario 64.
@russell-marlow I wouldn’t say it’s not a lot of people that know about them. It must be more of a European thing. Here in Germany there is hardly anyone not knowing their movies and many people including me frequently quote dialogues from the movies.
This is the most interesting that 2D mario looks to me since the first trailer for the DS‘ New Super Mario Bros. which came out 17 years ago. Remember your dad saying stuff like "this was 20 years ago"? Yes, we‘re getting freaking old, folks.
The only piece that never really satisfied me was the Lugi‘s Mansion theme in Smash. I think they kind of killed the eeriness of the original and made it a bit too lively.
The guy who has the balls to fight through a mansion full of ghosts to save his brother. Oh and not you, Toad. You were crying on a balcony and didn‘t bother turning on the light switch until said guy arrived.
@Not_Soos I‘m pretty sure the devs put a lot of honest work into it but can you really blame people for crapping on a game that looks flat out stolen? The creative director of this game must have just said: make it look and feel like Cuphead. They are basically cashing in on the huge amount of ground work that was laid by the Cuphead developers and that is simply a bit unfair. Why not take a different art style from later or even earlier cartoons? Why not add in different gameplay mechanics? Maybe 15 to 20 years after Cuphead people would call something like this a nice callback to the original game but given that Cuphead is fairly recent this will go down as a shameless ripoff.
I mean, they‘re not being total a-holes this time or anything, they give you the game as it is and if you want it you pay 50 bucks and you get it. Chances are you already own a PS3, PS4, XBOX 360, etc. and can get it a lot cheaper there.
Makes sense, Nintendo will eventually put their own emulators on the Switch or its successor. How can they sell a subscription method if you pay nothing for more or less the same on Steam Deck?
@PessitheMystic Not so sure about Luigi‘s Mansion 3 anymore but didn‘t the dog take a minor role there? I agree though, Yoshi would be fine without Poochie like in the original Wooly World. I guess it depends on how it‘s implemented. If it‘s not annoying or boring I‘d say it‘s ok but they really should come up with something else in the future. How about a friendly Boo in Luigi‘s Mansion? Or E. Gadd‘s son? You have a good point.
Donkey Kong Country and Star Fox. Although I think with DK it‘s pretty hard to top Tropical Freeze since that game is arguably one of the best 2D-platformers ever made.
Star Fox needs to return in what imagine to be a fully fleshed-out Star Fox Assault. Assault had a great formula but it feels rather short. If I was a chief officer somewhere up there in the holy realm of Nintendo I‘d let a studio develop an Assault remake built with a new engine and then use that engine to make a new game in the future. The Switch has a huge user-base and with that they were able to give new life to the Metroid-series. Maybe they could pull it off with Star Fox as well.
Why do people keep saying that Metroid Prime 2 is too difficult when Metroid Dread is the one kicking your butt 24/7? The only thing that’s difficult in MP2 is the boost ball boss and maybe traversing the dark world before you have the dark suit.
Already wondered why they call it Tomba when I always remembered it as Tombi. Gave it a pass as a kid because I didn‘t really understand the controls I think. Maybe I‘ll give it a shot.
If you want to play these games on original hardware you get yourself an Everdrive from Krikzz - problem solved. Adding something to your collection however is a different story. Then you better buy these now before companies like WATA get their hands on them.
I think the NA version describes best what kind of game to expect. It‘s more more of a party game for casual players than a game like Donkey Kong Country.

Re: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Has Been Rated For Nintendo Switch
While I will definitely play this I feel a bit sad that it doesn‘t have the atmosphere of the original and that it’s more cartoony like LM3.
I guess we’ll have to wait for some hobby modders who could tackle the game in a couple of years.

I don‘t know which video everyone is watching but these graphics are totally blurry much like on the PS2.
