Re: Sonic Creator Yuji Naka Still Has One Problem With The Movie Redesign

DarkKirby

I can understand the eyes not being joined together, because if they are animating the eyes in HD in 3D, they want to be able to have the orbs of the eyes look like they're moving, while of course in a 2D animation of Sonic, or in less detail, you can't see that shine in the eyes anyway, so you can just have the pupils more around and it looks fine.

That said, they at least made the part where Sonic's eyes normally join a light color to simulate the joined area.

Re: Soapbox: Attacking Pokémon Creator Game Freak Isn't Cool, But Biting Back Isn't The Answer

While harassing people may not be good, you cannot be a public figure and expect only, nice, supportive comments from people as a whole, especially when you're involved with something that has made people upset.

That's completely ridiculous.

That said, there have been cases in the past where angry people have harassed people who are not actually responsible for why they were upset.

Re: What Sakurai Really Meant When He Said Smash Bros. "Is For Good Boys And Girls"

DarkKirby

Although it was already pretty obvious why she was left out, the Japanese broadcast at least confirms the team wanted to keep the Switch entry within the lowest age rating

DLC cannot raise a game's age rating, DLC and the base game have different age ratings, and do not effect each other.

This is one of the reasons why games always have the warning that online content cannot be guaranteed to keep to the age rating on the base game.

That said, Nintendo wanted to keep Mai out to keep the image they want for the game intact.

Although for comedy's sake, someone made a "Smash Safe" version of Mai.

Re: New Game-Changing Features Revealed For Pokémon Sword And Shield

DarkKirby

This is not confirmed, but according to some leaks, the Nature Changing Mints are post game Battle Tower Rewards (from a BP shop), and Hyper Training still needs level 100 Pokemon and Bottle Caps.

If true, nothing has really changed, since at that point breeding for Nature and IVs will likely be faster than raising a Pokemon to level 100 and also grinding the Battle Tower.

Re: Blizzard Has "No Idea" When Overwatch 2 Will Be Released, Just Wants To "Make It Great"

DarkKirby

The obvious plan Blizzard had that everyone already knows is to pile on the big announcements at Blizzcon to silence any complaints about their behavior in relation to pandering to China, which in large part worked for the people who were attending Blizzcon.

Overwatch "2" isn't ready to be shown, it probably has nothing to show, they just needed lots of announcements to drown out criticism.

Re: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore Will Be Censored On Switch

DarkKirby

This is already what I expected since the Japanese trailer was the same, and Nintendo's new policy of "sending the western censors right to the Japanese development studios".

This is technically the best business decision if they want their games censored for the west (even if I personally disagree with censoring the developers), because if the Japanese version is the same, nobody knows what was changed.

The problem with this game is, it came out on the Wii U before they implemented the policy, so people already know what's been censored, and I doubt the Japanese players care that much, since they have the uncensored original version already on the Wii U.

Re: Talking Point: Mario Kart Tour Is Certainly Dividing Opinion, But Why?

DarkKirby

Here's the short version.

People who don't like it think the controls are poorly thought out, the game should be in landscape mode so you can see better, and the monetization is far, far too aggressive with both loot boxes and a subscription service that both makes the game less grindy, and allows you to play the most fun mode (which is still only AIs).

There is also the problem that if Nintendo actually succeeds at selling a subscription service within a F2P game, you can imagine tons of other F2P games will follow suite.

Re: Is Game Freak "Recycling" 3DS Animations In Pokémon Sword And Shield On Switch?

DarkKirby

The models and animations are the same ones being used since Gen 6. It's not really a question.

In addition, it's quite standard practice to have these things made high quality, then down scaled to run properly with the hardware.

Part of the backlash is many fans are well aware the explanation given for the dex cut isn't believable.

I've said so before though, the real problem is despite the cut, the game doesn't really seem significantly improved from past entries, it kind of looks the same, upscaled S/M with giant Pokemon (a by design disposable mechanic), and wild area.

Re: Junichi Masuda Releases Official Statement About Limiting Sword And Shield's Pokédex

DarkKirby

This is a PR "non-response" response.

I'll say again, I think the main issue is not the Pokemon being cut, but there seems to have been nothing gained in exchange,

It's funny how he would use the term "evolve" to describe the Pokemon games, because the games have always been a story of one step forward, 2 steps back, as they keep removing features people love, for the sake of making the games "different".

If there was a huge leap in other areas of the game, people would be more understanding of something like cutting Pokemon. But there wasn't. It looks like upscaled Sun/Moon with Wild Area and Giant Pokemon (a by design throwaway gimmick most people don't care about).

Yet the game now costs more, for less content then before.

Re: Video: Sega Releases Ridiculous Live Action Trailer To Promote Team Sonic Racing

DarkKirby

@RupeeClock

It's not paid or planned promotions Sega has ever had a problem with.

It's people playing their games in youtube without their express permission, with rules on what could and couldn't be said or done beforehand.

For example, there was youtuber who uploaded his Yakuza let's play on youtube, and Sega Japan gave him 3 copyright strikes in a row and took down his channel. Luckily, this guy had a friend who knew some people from Sega of America, who got the copyright strikes removed and his channel restored, and than gave him written permission to upload his let's play, but the guy was so shaken from the experience he never uploaded let's play content from Sega games again.

Re: Feature: 10 Things We'd Like To See In Animal Crossing On The Switch

DarkKirby

The magic of Animal Crossing dies once you start seeing the animals repeat the same thing another animal said.

At this point they don't feel alive anymore.

So there need to be a lot more possible conversation combinations.

Make the custom picture feature more detailed and allow people to just upload pictures instead of having to spend a few hours placing all the pixels themselves.

Allow for a visit random town feature. You can visit a random town, but when doing so you can't change anything in the town.
