I'm surprised it lasted this long. I remembered it existed about two weeks ago, gave it a shot on Switch 2, and the performance is still awful. It was a decent idea for a game but poorly executed overall.
Ugh, anything to not give the poor guy a proper new entry. The first Mario movie had an insane amount of references and was overall pretty good for what it was, but that novelty is gone for me with subsequent films. I'll give this a pass, but hopefully those that do watch it have a good time. New Star Fox, please Nintendo 😞
I'll definitely give this a look when it drops, but the mentization aspect (free to start😱) is very likely to make me bounce off of it. Battling is a fun aspect of the series, but I'm not one to micromanage IVs/EVs, equipped items, and so on. @Pillowpants The "Ignore" option has worked wonders for me in instances like this.
Buying this allows assist mode for all characters but doesn't allow you to disable it for Yoshi and Nabbit (so you can play them like regular characters that can get damaged)? Missed opportunity.
@Shmoo Counterpoint- RE: HD is decently newcomer friendly considering you can completely break the games difficulty by selecting analogue controls (which the enemies can't handle), and playing the newly included Very Easy mode.
I am a major fan of the first two games, but I'll take a beat before snagging this one, since it's $70 and I just got Requiem. I already played the demo for upwards of 8 hours, it's a ton of fun! Here's hoping for a performance patch by the time I do get it 😮💨
I won't double-dip, but I really enjoyed RE8 on PS5 (especially with the added third-person mode). I'm in the minority though where the Beneviento segment had me giggling almost the entire time with how silly the whole thing was (and sadly it slows down the momentum of sequential playthroughs). Beneviento in the DLC was much scarier to me!
@anoyonmus I would at least play MGS3 before Peacewalker. PW's plot is canon to the MGS timeline, and is a direct sequel to 3. I disagree that it's just a bonus extra, as there's still a very necessary setup for MGSV as well (with MGSV happening directly after PW in the timeline).
"The framerate has been halved, and the resolution is muddy...Oh wait! We're on the Nintendo Switch!" 😉 Jokes aside, I am VERY interested to see how they adapt these hard-baked PS3 references and six-axis gimmicks! Despite the "amount of gameplay vs cutscenes" controversy, I really love goofy MGS4 😎
Yeah...Jonathan Blow is a blowhard that can go blow himself as I blow away any traces of his games from my consoles (always thought the art style of Braid blows too).
Yakuza 3 catching strays here, the original (on PS3) was unfortunately gutted in the west, but the remaster on modern consoles re-added the content and is well worth a playthrough. I would still rate 5 as my least favorite of the series by a longshot! As for Kiwami 3, I'll add it to my shelf when I find a physical copy for less than 20.
Saiyuki was the first manga I ever read as a kid, and it got me interested in the Journey to the West proper (which it is a VERY loose adaption of). So I'd be interested in picking this up!
Gaah one of my regrets was passing this game up when it sold for ~$20 and wasn't too hard to find at retailers. Now it demands a much higher rate of course, so perhaps it's time I find the means to try it out if Nintendo isn't inclined to make it commercially available...yo ho ho 😬🐬
Price went up, functionality went down. Unfortunate, but I satisfied my collector itch with the Smash Bros. amiibo specifically, so now it's rare that I feel compelled to get one. Maybe a RE Requiem Grace or MH Stories 3 Rathalos, but those are just for the shelf.
@The_Nintendo_Expat Its unfortunate that "Metroidvania" will forever be the genre-defining term despite originally being a term to differentiate Castlevania titles (and "Igavania" technically replaced the term when describing open Castlevania games from the linear "Classicvanias"). Now I have a Headachevania 😵💫
At first I was angry that I passed up the $16 digital copy of Skyrim during the sale, just for this to get announced shortly after. Now I'm happy I gave it a pass! Back to my digital copy that runs 60 fps on Series S.
I'll never understand the weight people give Meta Critic numbers on their decisions, it just seems like a stressful and negative way to look at a medium. Nonetheless, I'm working through Prime 2 currently, looking forward to when I get to 4 (or 3 for that matter, dark aether is not my favorite place 😅)!
9/10 for me. I feel like there's just a few accessibility options missing (like binding spin to a button), and only being able to select music for City Trial instead of more modes and the menu. Other than that, it's been a blast and I'm still addicted! Just completed the Road Trip checklist, so now I'll focus on the other modes 😎
Capcom...I want to keep loving you but you make it so hard sometimes. When my friend sent me a picture of the deluxe edition I swore it off as a meme 😒
Limited inventory requires finesse. When done properly, it elevates the experience and the strategy involved in a survival horror (or hell, it can even be its own mini-game: RE4). When done poorly, it only frustrates. So it sounds like they made the right call there. Will keep an eye on this! Fixed cam/tank-controlled survival horrors are a gem.
What a surprise! I only (barely) remember the first game, because my friend at the time gave me the disc because he hated it 🤣 I honestly can't remember anything about it, other than it didn't click with me nearly as much as other fighters.
This is blurring the lines between the terms "remade" and "remastered" a bit, and to me doesn't read like a port isn't happening 🤔 Sure Prime 4 will definitely beat it to the shelves, but still seems like a stretch to say this means it isn't happening or planned...
Considering these trial games aren't even permanently added to your account (with an active sub) and the trial period is so short, it's odd they don't utilize this feature more to better advertise their library and NSO subs as a whole 🤔
It's still odd to me that the opposing trainers stand rooted the the ground as you and your Mon are running around during combat. Why not just control your current Mon directly at that point?
I tried the first Layers of Fear on a sale last October, and aside from a few decent liminal moments, it was extremely boring and completely devoid of scares. Thanks to Silent Hill 2 I'm a Bloober fan now, but I don't see any reason to return to Layers unfortunately.
I've always wanted to play Mario & Wario since the bucket trophy in Smash Melee! So that'll be one curiosity satisfied 😁 And Fatal Fury is always good fun.
@Luigivaldo Unfortunately I likely started playing after those patches to the mechanics, because I waited for a sale after they axed the MTX from the game. Jokes aside, I do think it's a fun kart racer (I'm a sucker for anything with Cloud in it), and I still dip in here and there for a few rounds!
I love hall effect, that alone almost sold me. But the row of buttons on the bottom, no haptics, AND no console wake? Still a miss, guys...still planning for Pro 2 once my original Pro drifts beyond repair (so far, so good).
Imagine a scenario where you get a cartridge with the entire VB library and your choice of the hunk of plastic or hunk of cardboard for these prices. It would really be a novelty release, but the reality is you have to be an NSO sub to have the privilege to order one of these accessories and play these games with an active subscription. WILD.
@Gatorclops I removed my original comment at this point, too much doom and gloom. I just felt depressed after all of these prices went live. It's sad the industry is in this state, but it is what it is. Not to say there isn't something for everyone, it's just personally hard for me to get hyped for anything outside Kirby kinda (only because I really like the first Air Ride), but seeing them go the Starlink route with amiibo is concerning 🤣 But you make solid points, and for anyone who loved this Direct, I'm happy for them.
New content this early is cool, but it should NOT be paid. Really on the fence with this, but my wife loves this game way more than me so maybe for her...

Re: Rumour: Nintendo's 2026 Plans Include New Star Fox & Zelda Remake, No 3D Mario
Please don't let Starfox be the third retelling of the SNES game! Also Ocarina remake would be HUGE! 😮
Re: Fox McCloud's Voice Actor For The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Has Been Confirmed
I. Need. That. VEST.
Re: PS5 Gets An Insane Price Increase – Will Nintendo Follow Suit?
We want to think they won't, but the Switch 1 price already went up. It's just a matter of time.
Re: Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition Has Been Rated For Switch 2
I wonder why it isn't just called Special Edition, unless...new content? 👀 DMC5/SE was extremely lacking in the costumes department!

Re: Feature: Where The Heck Do You Start If You've Never Played Resident Evil?
@Picola-Wicola The tone the start of the game sets lasts about 1/2 to 2/3 of the game. The final part is a change of pace for sure.
Re: Feature: Where The Heck Do You Start If You've Never Played Resident Evil?
@Shmoo Counterpoint- RE: HD is decently newcomer friendly considering you can completely break the games difficulty by selecting analogue controls (which the enemies can't handle), and playing the newly included Very Easy mode.
Re: Feature: Where The Heck Do You Start If You've Never Played Resident Evil?
You can start wherever you please and with whichever gameplay style appeals to you the most!
Re: PSA: Switch 2's "GameChat Welcome Offer" Ends This Month, Try It Out For Free While You Still Can
It works super well! I've had some great Mario Kart, Air Riders, and Monster Hunter sessions while using it. Very simple and convenient.

Helps me "appreciate" modern Pokemon games? I'm not sure that's the word I would use, personally 🤔

Re: Poll: Will You Be Getting Pokémon FireRed Or LeafGreen On Switch?
LeafGreen! I only beat these games once, and that was on FireRed, so time to mix it up.
Re: Pokémon FireRed And LeafGreen Officially Revealed For Switch
Awesome news to wake up to! And not on NSO!
Re: Missed Potential Or A Campy Classic? Switch 2 Exclusive 'Tokyo Scramble' Hasn't Been A Hit
Where is the option for just "No" on the first question? I own a Switch 2 and could tell from the outset this wouldn't be worth it.

@YoshiAngemon Ohh that's an excellent point! I could definitely see your last example being the case. A sort of "cover-all instances" recording.
