@Alcea I agree! Honestly after seeing Fox in the Mario Galaxy Movie I would have preferred an animation in that style. Fox in the movie was quite possibly the coolest Fox ever and easily my favorite part of the movie.
@DiamondJim actually Arrowhead didn’t know much about compression either. They hired Nixxes Software to do their compression for them and thank goodness too…freed up so much space on my PC and Steam Deck.
I think what boggles my mind is that the physical release of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie is today (got mine in the mail earlier) and no one has said anything online.
I’ve replayed it enough since it released. My last play through was a couple years ago. I will hold off till this releases. I’ve probably completed OoT about 12 times by now if I had to guess.
I have so many stories with N64…. I took the one that I felt showed my craze for the system the best though and submitted it. Hopefully it gets posted. That 100 word limit though was difficult to meet but I got it done.
It’s a tragedy that they are key cards. If priced right I would have bought each one separately if the full game was on each card. Sorry folks, I’m with Anti-Matter on this one….key cards serve no real logical purpose. I guess I’ll have till October to find a good deal on a sd express card upgrade given I’m already starting to run low on my 512 gb.
I absolutely did not like Donkey Kong. I would have to go with No Man’s Sky. Game is a masterpiece and it’s a game that keeps on giving. It has great support and a great community. I’ve been playing it for years on my PC & Steam Deck. I got the S2 edition just because it was so cheap at launch and I wanted to support Hello Games.
I’m good with what I have. A console is a console…it plays games. I don’t need another that looks slightly different if there’s nothing wrong with the one I have unless there’s some kind of major enhancement like an OLED screen. I’ve never understood people buying multiple variants even less so if one should come out for the S2 given how much it costs. These people must be single with no children…
I clicked on this thinking “What the **** are they talking about? Nothing needs to change about this perfect game but a graphical overhaul!” Then I read 1-5 and those are actually pretty valid. The last one though, Princess Ruto being carried around….I don’t agree with. She’s a princess. A pampered, spoiled princess being carried around makes sense to me. In the 90’s as a teenager I got that concept when playing through this the first time.
MKW was fun for about a week. I got the bundle so I didn’t really feel like I was paying for it but while we’re on the topic I don’t feel there is enough content there to justify the price. MK8D is superior in just about every way possible. It’s absolutely valid to compare MKW to the game that immediately precedes it. Let’s stop pretending there’s a valid reason not to. Now….back to Civilization 7.
Outside of Civ 7 I hardly play mine and when I do it’s usually docked so mine is pretty pristine. I also have most of the games on PC that I have on Switch 2 which means I play them on Steam Deck as well as my PC.
I was there for Shenmue when it launched on Dreamcast. I was immediately hooked and the soundtrack was a huge reason for that. So atmospheric. Shenmue 3 greatly disappointed me. We waited darn near two decades for some resolution to Ryu’s story and all we got
was another cliffhanger.
Shenmue 1 is definitely the best of the series. Shenmue 2 was good but didn’t hold up to the magic of the first.
Also, Dreamcast may have been “ill fated” but it’s one of the best systems I’ve ever owned and I’m I child of the early 80’s. So many great memories with it. It now sits in my attic.
Glad I have both a Steam Deck and the S2. I have a high end gaming PC as well. I do play my SD more than my S2 that is if I'm not playing those SD games on my PC. I do think that much of a price hike is unwarranted though on the SD. As for the old argument which is better....they both have their quirks so lets stop this childish debate and just recognize that both platforms are unique with their own great qualities as well as their own disadvantages and really aren't competitors at all. That argument is tired.
I love this game. Next to Civ 7 (since the Test of Time update last week) they are my fav Switch 2 games. If I can peel myself away from Civ long enough I’ll give it a try soon. Harriet Tubman has been attacking my ships and trying to settle near my cities to prevent their growth and it’s time for Edward Teach (Blackbeard) and my Republic of Pirates to take her and the Americans out of the picture.
@wiiwouldliketoplay I agree with this. I’m also glad they provided that sheet music because I didn’t have to go search for the songs to remember what they were. I see sheet music and I instantly can hear it in my head.
It just dropped earlier. I watched the first 20 minutes of it. Also JumboPixel does a slightly better job at explaining things. He dropped this video about the first 10 moves earlier today as well: https://youtu.be/JzTckUTX8o8?si=jXzhDeZx7WTdz5x_
@Kidfunkadelic83 yep the game is the same across all platforms. I have it on both S2 and Steam. I double dipped lol. Only difference I foresee would be mods. You obviously wouldn’t be able to install mods on the S2 but the core official game is the same on all platforms.
@Kidfunkadelic83 yeah I was like that when I first started playing Civ. There’s a ton of really helpful videos on YouTube from channels like “JumboPixel” and “One More Turn”. You’ll start getting the hang of it the more you play.
Loved Lego Skywalker Saga…they even managed to make the sequel trilogy enjoyable in it…quite the feat. I’m definitely picking this up as soon as possible. On Steam though. Maybe S2 if it’s worthy of double dipping.
LOL if I'm reading most of the comments right everything in the world, including tech, is being flipped upside down....but Nintendo is okay....okay guys....sure. Let's not shill too hard. People can barely afford groceries but we will come out in droves for software and hardware no matter what the economic temperature is? I haven't bought a piece of software at full price in quite awhile and I used to buy everything. I'm not saying that they won't turn a profit this year or next...anything could happen but given the current state of the world I'm keeping my expectations very tempered.
The only way I’ll buy this game…..again……is if Glenn Powell is voicing him which is doubtful LOL. SERIOUSLY though, is Nintendo so creatively bankrupt that they can’t just give us some legit new games? I bought this game day 1 on N64 and bought the 3ds version day 1. I also have Star Fox Zero that I got day 1 that is basically SF 64 and even SF 64 is just a remake of SF on SNES which also got day 1 (aging myself here)…. Can we get a new story please?
EDIT: I feel the need to clarify after some are claiming “Star Fox 64 isn’t a remake of the SNES game blah blah blah”….its a REIMAGINING of the original game which in turn pretty much makes it a remake. Just because it’s hits slightly different story notes doesn’t mean it’s completely different. The same underlying story is still there. I guess you could frame it as a “retelling”. Two sides of the same coin.
Surely the physical release won’t be but a month or so after. I literally just preordered my 4k copy yesterday. I’m looking forward to seeing this again. My first time watching was weighted down by a lot of work stuff going on at the time and I wasn’t able to fully enjoy the movie so I’m excited to give it another watch.
The Zelda game that had probably a deeper story than most, at least in my opinion, was Wind Waker. Couple that with its fluid Saturday morning cartoon animation style it’s no wonder it’s my favorite Zelda. The fact that we still haven’t gotten Wind Waker HD on Switch enrages me just a tad.
Fact of the matter is exclusives are what keep a system afloat and the company behind it thriving. No better example than Nintendo. I once worked with a guy who asked me during a conversation “why would you want exclusives?!”. This guy was in a leadership position of a tech company and yet somehow he couldn’t see the importance of exclusives on a console. Not even one reason of the many they are important. How people land these leadership roles in large corporations absolutely blows my mind. Anyway, I really don’t see why companies haven’t been on this train all along…
I’ve been a fan of Splatoon since the very first Global Test Fire for the original game on Wii U. The single player stuff is alright. It’s entertaining but online is the real meat and potatoes of the franchise. I might be skipping on this one.

@AstroTheGamosian PlayAsia has them for preorder for 19.99:

Don’t pay the Nintendo tax. Just get them here. I’d love to have that pin set though. I’m a sucker for pins.
Re: Hands On: Astroneer Turns Co-Op Extraction Adventure, But Is 'Starseeker' Worth Playing In Early Access?
Astroneer is decent. I have it on Steam. Also have Starseeker on Steam. It needs a bit more time in the oven. It’s a tad bland in its current state.

Civ 7 and Splatoon 3 for me this weekend. Mainly Civ 7 though. This Test of Time update is a literal game changer.
