Re: Poll: So, Did You Manage To Get A Switch 2 Pre-Order In? (North America)

BrokenCiv

Walmart let me queue in line about 2 minutes before "go live" last night. It was my last resort. I tried Best Buy and Target...both were $***shows. Walmart let me in my 10 minute window 6 minutes after "go live" and got it in. Subsequently I checked Walmart today about 6 different times and about 5 of those I could have checked out with more preorders but A) I don't think you can get anymore than 1...I might be wrong on that and B) I don't need that many Switch 2s and C) I'm not a bloodsucking scalper.

Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2

BrokenCiv

@Burning_Spear yep it was for shipping but even then they might be sending the units to the closest store and having someone deliver them on the morning of launch, kinda like when you do a regular online order for delivery and someone from your local store delivers it. I think this is how Walmart is able to tell people it will be at your door no later than 9 a.m. on launch day.

Re: eBay Is Already Flooded With Switch 2 Pre-Orders At Ridiculous Prices

BrokenCiv

@Pat_trick I don't think anyone should be shopping at eBay. Its become a wretched hive of scum and villainy. The scammers have ruined it for legit businesses on there. They will still send you a product but it won't be in the condition you thought you were purchasing. My last two purchases were for "like new" products" and both came in being heavily used. For instance one of them was a set of books and half of them had the covers missing and others had covers creased, pages falling out etc... You can report them and recoup your money but still, you can't really trust anyone on there anymore which is why I no longer shop there.

I was able to queue up “in line” at Walmart a few minutes before they went live. My goal was to order from Best Buy and Target was my second choice. Both the apps and the websites for those derped on me within milliseconds. I was still “in line” with Walmart and I was starting to get worried/annoyed about 5 minutes into it with not having any success yet when I had prepared so much. I was finally able to get one in the cart with Target but the checkout kept crashing on me when finally Walmart opened up and said I had 10 minutes to complete and order. I was able to get it it in with them thankfully. As a software engineer I found Walmart to be quite impressive in all this and they handled it so perfectly without anything ever crashing on me. This is coming from someone who has been overly critical of their website in the past. I can’t wait for June 5th now.

I called it: https://www.nintendolife.com/features/opinion-a-few-too-many-questions-and-unwelcome-surprises-are-taking-the-shine-off-the-switch-2-reveal#comment8575625

But really the joke is on them...I don't care about any of the accessories but the pro controller.

However, I do wonder how this will play on the price of amiibo. I have every Zelda amiibo thus far (the only one's I care to own) so I have to get the new ones obviously...

I don't find GameChat to be innovative at all. It just takes something that already existed and makes it weird. Also the fact that its a dedicated button that will eventually be put behind a paywall is absolutely ridiculous. But hey, am I gonna buy it and probably pay for all this stupid extra crap? Yeah, probably....because I'm a gullible Nintendo fanboy that has no self control.

Re: UK Charts: Switch 2 Anticipation Creates A Quiet Week For Nintendo

I reeeeeeeeaaaaaaally wish I could preorder.... Here is an AI generated song to express my frustration....enjoy:

(Verse 1)
I’m counting down the days, can’t wait to play,
The Nintendo Switch 2’s on the way,
I’m ready with my wallet, just waiting to spend,
But the tariffs hit hard, where’s my preorder, friend?

(Chorus)
I wish I could preorder, get it right now,
But tariffs are blocking me, what’s that about?
Nintendo’s got the Switch 2, looking so fine,
But the borders are stopping me from crossing that line.

(Verse 2)
I see all the videos, I see all the leaks,
But my wallet’s on pause, my patience peaks,
I’d love to get in early, be first in line,
But tariffs keep my hands off what should be mine.

(Chorus)
I wish I could preorder, get it right now,
But tariffs are blocking me, what’s that about?
Nintendo’s got the Switch 2, looking so fine,
But the borders are stopping me from crossing that line.

(Bridge)
I’ll be here waiting, can’t even try,
To grab it before it’s gone, oh my, oh my.
Nintendo, please hear my desperate cry,
Let me preorder, before time passes by!

(Chorus)
I wish I could preorder, get it right now,
But tariffs are blocking me, what’s that about?
Nintendo’s got the Switch 2, looking so fine,
But the borders are stopping me from crossing that line.

(Outro)
Maybe one day, tariffs will fall,
And I’ll grab that Switch 2, once and for all.
But until then, I’ll dream and I’ll pine,
Wishing that preorder button was mine.

Re: Nintendo Of America President Says Tariffs "Not Factored" Into Switch 2 Price

Most consoles don't make money for the company. Its the software. Its been that way for years. Nintendo, a company that made 3.25 billion in 2024 alone and is also the richest company in Japan, can afford to keep the price the same to break even on this, at least till the tariff situation is settled which after they will keep the same price gouging sticker price on it to get their profit. What it boils down to is just greed and ego. They literally think they can do anything they want and us suckers will throw money at them.

Honestly I cringed quite a few times watching this movie. The only reason I watched it was because my kids wanted to see it and by kids I mean my 12 (soon to be 13) and my 14 (soon to be 15) year olds wanted to watch it. Glad the movie did well but it was just a little too overboard especially Jack Black which is saying something. My question though is why did it do so well? I’m thinking the name alone was the culprit.

I guarantee Nintendo’s ninjas knew these tariffs were coming and this is why everything is priced the way it is. When Nintendo saw all the backlash around the prices on their Treehouse streams they more than likely used the tariffs as an excuse to temporarily halt preorders and in the coming days they will announce that they are going to keep the price the same and look like heroes for not increasing the prices in order to charge the price they already knew they wanted. Nintendo’s financial reps aren’t stupid. They know full well what’s going on. Chess, people…….chess.
