Re: Nintendo Of America President Says Tariffs "Not Factored" Into Switch 2 Price

BrokenCiv

Most consoles don't make money for the company. Its the software. Its been that way for years. Nintendo, a company that made 3.25 billion in 2024 alone and is also the richest company in Japan, can afford to keep the price the same to break even on this, at least till the tariff situation is settled which after they will keep the same price gouging sticker price on it to get their profit. What it boils down to is just greed and ego. They literally think they can do anything they want and us suckers will throw money at them.

Honestly I cringed quite a few times watching this movie. The only reason I watched it was because my kids wanted to see it and by kids I mean my 12 (soon to be 13) and my 14 (soon to be 15) year olds wanted to watch it. Glad the movie did well but it was just a little too overboard especially Jack Black which is saying something. My question though is why did it do so well? I’m thinking the name alone was the culprit.

Re: Opinion: A Few Too Many Questions & Unwelcome Surprises Are Taking The Shine Off The Switch 2 Reveal

I guarantee Nintendo’s ninjas knew these tariffs were coming and this is why everything is priced the way it is. When Nintendo saw all the backlash around the prices on their Treehouse streams they more than likely used the tariffs as an excuse to temporarily halt preorders and in the coming days they will announce that they are going to keep the price the same and look like heroes for not increasing the prices in order to charge the price they already knew they wanted. Nintendo’s financial reps aren’t stupid. They know full well what’s going on. Chess, people…….chess.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct?

BrokenCiv

I honestly didn’t see anything that got me excited. It’s just a bunch of stuff I’ve already been playing on Steam mixed with a few new Nintendo games that still have the same aesthetic as they did on GameCube/Wii/Wi U. Like there’s not much graphical upgrade to them. I’m not even sure if I want to preorder now until I see something that I just GOT to play. My FOMO is non-existent at the moment. The launch lineup is incredibly underwhelming. What’s funny is that they were showcasing the chat feature when everyone else has been doing it for like 25 years (first games I used voice extensively was StarCraft and Halo 2 over 20 years ago).

Re: Talking Point: What We Expect From The Switch 2 Direct

@johnedwin but I’m not. I said I wished for a watered down version and even said it was wishful thinking…and I have several friends with “decent” computers that runs Wilds just fine. We all play together quite frequently. These devs aren’t going to release software that requires so much power that it out specs the majority of PC gamers. Not a good strategy.

I’ll be 44 this year. Having lived through many console launches I have to say that I don’t really get excited for them anymore. The last one I was genuinely excited for was probably 3DS (this is counting consoles from other companies as well…I pretty much have them all). After awhile you learn that the newness eventually fades and it’s all just the wash, rinse, and repeat method: new console releases, buy new shiny console, buy games, play games, wish for a new console after awhile, new console releases, buy shiny new console, buy games, etc… Will I preorder it? Yes however it still feels like Nintendo releasing already outdated tech. I understand they have to release it at a point it’s accessible to the average consumer price wise. What I hope to see out of the Direct are what new features it brings to the table. Sure we saw that mouse functionality thing but it looks awkward and not really a selling point in my opinion. As for games, I would like to see Metroid Prime released as a steelbook with all 4 games but I don’t see that happening so I would gladly take the trilogy and 4 separate in their own steelbooks. I know this is wishful thinking but perhaps a watered down, working port of Monster Hunter Wilds. I play it on PC and would love to play it when I travel. It just doesn’t work that well with my Steam Deck.

Re: Talking Point: Which Switch Game Needs A 'Nintendo Switch 2 Edition' The Most?

BrokenCiv

Probably an unpopular opinion but none of them. I’m tired of giving Nintendo money over and over again for the same games. The only one I would actually welcome with open arms at the moment isn’t even from Switch but Wii U which would be Wind Waker HD. I’d love to have a portable version and why we didn’t get it is beyond me. Nintendo ported everything under the sun from Wii U to Switch BUT that game it would seem.
